Best Case

Vince Young was injured in week 1 last year and never got his starting job back after Kerry Collins took over. In addition to dealing with his injury, Young also dealt with depression other emotional issues off the field. He is currently saying all the right things as he hopes to show the team that he's finally matured on and off the field. He wants to regain his starting job, and is trying to develop the pocket passing skills that will complement his great talent outside the hash marks. If Young works hard enough to put it all together, he has the physical skill and winning background to become a superstar in the NFL.

Worst Case

Vince Young will have to look like a superstar before the Titans take the job away from Kerry Collins, because the veteran signal caller understands what Tennessee wants from their offense -- mistake-free football with great decision-making and accuracy on third down. Young's meltdown in 2008 was a major issue and the Titans signed a virtual clone of Kerry Collins in Patrick Ramsey to compete for the backup spot. This is a good chance Ramsey could win the No. 2 job and relegate VY to clipboard and scout team duty on Sundays.

Outlook

Vince Young wants to rejuvenate his once promising career as a starting QB in the NFL. He first has to beat out Patrick Ramsey for the backup job in Tennessee and then will have to wait for his opportunity behind Kerry Collins.

2008 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Young did not get into much of a rhythm during the game. He attempted four deep passes, but missed his intended receiver on three of them. He was better on his shorter passes, mostly to Chris Johnson and Bo Scaife, but was mostly off the mark. His touchdown pass was more the result of a good catch of a slightly errant throw and excellent running after the catch. He was hit in the fourth quarter while making a pass, and left the game as a result of an injury to his left knee. Young remained seated on the sideline for most of the remainder of the game, leaving on a cart with 59 seconds remaining in the game.

Week 2 - Young did not make the trip to Ohio for the game. He stayed at home to rest his injured knee.

Week 13 - Young came in for some late game action with the Titans up several scores. This marked the first action Young had seen since his knee injury in Week 1. He primarily handed the ball off save for a dump off throw that went for big yardage.

Week 17 - Young likely didn't think he'd be finishing the season like he did, completing nine of his 13 passes for 55 yards as the backup in a meaningless game due to its playoff implications. Of which he will unlikely be a part of. Young also tacked on 25 yards with his legs.
