Best Case

Dewayne White started off strong in 2007, racking up five sacks in the first eight games. A left triceps injury slowed him down and he only had one sack the rest of the way. White played left defensive end last year, but the Lions have moved him to the right side, which is the prime pass rushing spot on the defensive line. White put up top ten fantasy numbers in the first half of last year and if he can return to that form, he has an outside shot to be a low end DL1 this year.

Worst Case

Last season was White's first as a starter, and he was inconsistent even before his injury. With the move to the right DE spot, White will now face elite left tackles on a weekly basis instead of the normally weaker right tackles. If White is not more consistent and does not get pressure playing against better linemen, he could fall outside the top 30 DL.

Outlook

White is a solid two-way DE and the move from left to right end should result in more sack opportunities. White was hurt last season and it affected his performance, as he could not use his left arm to gain leverage in any of his pass rushing moves. Prior to his injury, White had 24 tackles and five sacks in the first half of the year, which are top ten caliber numbers. If he can manage a consistent pass rush while playing against elite left tackles, he should be somewhere in the mid DL2 range this year.
