Outlook
The signing of Osi Umenyiora is a proactive response by the frustrated Falcons brass to inject some life into 2012’s 28th-ranked pass rush. In part-time duty for the Giants last season, Umenyiora showed some of his old speed around the edge, but was a liability at times against the run. Umenyiora is playing under an incentive-laden contract, the value of which will be commensurate with the number of sacks, hits and hurries he generates. With John Abraham out of the picture, Umenyiora should get the nod at RDE. With Atlanta in winning positions – especially in the Georgia Dome – Umenyiora could reach 30/15/9.0 territory and finish as a decent DL2.
