2007 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Smith filled in for Mike Anderson as McGahee's primary backup, and he ran impressively. Smith caught the only ball thrown his way and scored the Ravens' first TD on a six yard run.

Week 2 - Smith infrequently spelled McGahee and saw some action on third downs in obvious passing situations. His one catch was good for a first down on Baltimore's first scoring drive. Smith appears to be the clear number two back on the depth chart.

Week 3 - Smith saw some action on third down and to occasionally spell McGahee. He caught all three balls thrown his way.

Week 4 - Smith was brought in mainly to spell McGahee for a play or two and as a change of pace back in the running game. The Ravens ran Smith in the same manner as McGahee, largely up the middle with the occasional run off tackle. His three receptions were largely a factor of the other receivers being covered and him being used as a safety valve.

Week 5 - Smith carried the ball five times for two yards, while being targeted two times in the passing game, catching both of those passes for 9 yards. Smith spelled McGahee and was used at times in third down packages, but looked ineffective in his touches.

Week 6 - Smith was used on occasion as a pass catching back, once gaining a first down. He had two carries for five yards.

Week 7 - Smith gained six yards on his only touch. He was targeted and was open on a fourth and one play at the end of the game, but Boller led him too much.

Week 9 - Smith had one carry for 11 yards in the first half, and he did not have any carries in the second half.

Week 10 - A non-factor in the Baltimore Ravens come from behind game plan, Musa Smith had one catch for one yard and no carries in the game.

Week 12 - Smith was ineffective as a runner, but caught all four of his targets as a receiver. Surprisingly, he finished second on the team in catches and receiving yards.

Week 13 - Smith was used occasionally to give McGahee a rest. He looked okay but did not have the same combination of power and speed that McGahee showed.

Week 14 - Smith spelled McGahee a few times, but otherwise didn't see much game actions, even in garbage time.

Week 15 - Smith had several carries to spell McGahee, including a big 16 yard gain in overtime.

Week 16 - Despite McGahee's injury, Smith still only saw carries in spot duty. He caught two of his targets.

Week 17 - Smith ran hard and determined against Pittsburgh. He put in extra effort when necessary for extra yards and was hard to bring down. He combined with RB Cory Ross to create a formidable tandem for the struggling Ravens' offense.
