Best Case
If Edgerrin James were to go down with injury it would Marcel Shipp that would currently get a majority of the carries. Marcel is a proven backup and while a solid veteran he more than likely would end up in a RBBC with both J.J. Arrington and Tim Hightower.
Worst Case
In recent years Marcel Shipp hasn't even been able to muster over 3 YPC. Once thought of as a possible TD vulture for Edgerrin James it appears that Shipp's main role is an "in case of emergency" back. He doesn't get many receptions or 3rd down opportunities because of J.J. Arrington. With the addition of Tim Hightower this season it could mean even less opportunity for Shipp.
Outlook
If he makes the team then one shouldn't expect much from Marcel Shipp in the way of production. Edgerrin James needs to stay fresh, and the Cardinals may look to rookie Tim Hightower to do that. This means the Shipp may have to sail from Arizona. The situation depends on the development of the rookie Hightower, if he shows that he can be effective immediately then it may be farewell for Marcel Shipp.
