2007 Game Summaries

Week 2 - Scheffler was active for this game, but did not have any targets. He only came in for the two TE formation.

Week 4 - Scheffler continues to play behind Daniel Graham and only had one target, thrown at his feet by Jay Cutler.

Week 5 - Scheffler came into the game without a reception on the season, but left with two impressive grabs and a blocked punt. Whether that will translate into more playing time remains to be seen, but he looks ready to contribute more heavily. He entered the game for the first time after WR Nate Jackson left with a leg injury.

Week 7 - Scheffler continued his comeback from a nagging foot injury by having his best game yet of the season. He caught a third quarter touchdown, and seemed to show the chemistry that he started to develop with Jay Cutler at the end of the 2006 season. He appeared to re injure his foot near the end of the game.

Week 8 - Scheffler made a nice grab on the Broncos first drive that went for 11 yards and followed that up later in the first quarter with a five yard touchdown catch. His final catch of the game came in the fourth quarter and went for 12 yards.

Week 9 - Scheffler caught six passes for 46 yards. He dropped his other target. His fumble resulted in one of four Detroit turnovers.

Week 10 - Scheffler was a regular target for the Broncos' passing attack. He caught four of the five passes thrown to him for 31 yards.

Week 11 - Scheffler was third on the team in receptions and yardage, and two of his catches went for first downs.

Week 12 - Scheffler made an acrobatic catch on his fourteen yard touchdown, and showed his big play ability to go deep over the middle and stretch opposing defenses. Tony was often utilized off the line as a slot receiver in this game, catching everything thrown his way as Daniel Graham was utilized primarily in a blocking role in this game.

Week 13 - Scheffler caught one pass for a 17 yard gain. Cutler tried to hit him on another deep pattern, but was unsuccessful.

Week 14 - Scheffler was also impressive at the tight end position for Denver. He caught all four passes intended for him, accumulating 31 yards through the air.

Week 15 - Scheffler barely broke the plane of the end zone before the ball came out of his outstretched hand. The Texans picked up the loose ball and began to run it back for what would have been a touchdown but the touchdown call was upheld following review.

Week 16 - Scheffler was far more active than his two receptions would seem to indicate. Aside from Brandon Marshall, Scheffler was the high man as far as targets for the Broncos. And when they got into key situations, more often than not it was Scheffler who was the top option. He was targeted near the end zone for a near-touchdown late in the third quarter, but the ball was tipped up in the air and intercepted by Clinton Hart. Scheffler was then thrown to three more times during the course of the second half, so it's not like they went away from him following the turnover. Unfortunately for him, all three passes resulted in incompletions as Cutler pretty much fell apart in the second half.

Week 17 - Scheffler had a good game working the sidelines, and the short middle of the field. He finished with 52 yards on his seven receptions and added a touchdown.
