2007 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Scaife and Young seemed to be in a rhythm early in the first half, and showed some athleticism in his route running and going after the passes that were thrown to him. However he was not targeted in the second half as the Titans relied heavily on their running game.

Week 2 - Despite all of the talk that Scaife is QB Vince Young's favorite receiving target, Scaife only pulled down a single catch for eight yards over three targets.

Week 3 - Scaife got involved in the passing game early, he is clearly the pass catching TE in this offense. His fourth quarter TD catch essentially clinched the game.

Week 5 - Scaife did not pick up a catch until very late in this game, and was outpaced in production against the Falcons by teammate Ben Troupe.

Week 6 - Scaife was targeted six times, catching three passes for 45 yards. He did fumble the ball on one reception, but the Titans were able to get the ball back after Tampa Bay fumbled the recovery.

Week 7 - On Scaife's first catch of the game he fumbled the ball, turning it over deep in the Texans territory. But he would be targeted the most in the first half for Tennessee as he had six balls thrown his way. He had four catches for 38 yards in the first half. Scaife would have two catches for 11 yards in the seconds half but, would finish as the Titans second leading receiver and had a team high six catches for the Titans.

Week 8 - Scaife caught both passes thrown his way for 12 yards.

Week 9 - Bo Scaife caught six passes for 35 yards. Scaife caught all six passes thrown to him. All of the passes were thrown short, usually when Young had nothing else downfield. Scaife picked up three first downs in the game. He caught a short pass and took it down to the Carolina nine yard line.

Week 10 - Scaife received the most targets in the second half with seven -- but only garnered three receptions. He was asked to run longer routes, and although he managed to get open on some of them, Young did not connect with him. Two of Scaife's targets were in the end zone.

Week 11 - Scaife was Young's second favorite target behind Justin Gage. He dropped one of the passes, but a late first half catch that was ruled incomplete, took a big gain off the books and stalled what looked to be a promising Titans drive.

Week 12 - Bo Scaife seems to have a good rapport with Vince Young from their days together in Texas. He was the receiver that Young looked for when the protection broke down, but he was slow to make an impact. The first two passes thrown his way were off target and not catchable, the first one was an interception on pass thrown behind him. He was targeted on three of the first seven passes on the lone long drive of the game in the fourth quarter.

Week 13 - Scaife contributed with a solid afternoon, spreading out four catches against the Texans and helping to convert a couple of key first downs.

Week 14 - Scaife did a good enough job of getting open, but the vast majority of Vince Young's passes to him were simply uncatchable. It was a combination of factors: good defense being played on Scaife, ineffectiveness on the part of Young, all mixed with a bit of bad luck, that did him in. He nearly made what would have been the game-clinching reception along the left sideline late in the contest. With Tennessee facing a third down and five situation with 2:37 left to play, Young dropped back and lofted a pass down the sideline for Scaife. LB Matt Wilhelm had been beaten on the play, but stuck his arm up at the last moment and blindly knocked the ball away from Scaife, who would have easily caught it for at least a 15 yard gain. It was simply that kind of day for the Tennessee offense.

Week 15 - Tight end Bo Scaife technically did not catch either of the two passes thrown towards him, but he actually nicely pulled in one of them for what could have been called an 18 yard touchdown. The catch was nullified due to a Tennessee holding penalty.

Week 16 - Scaife saw only one target, which was good for a 12 yard completion.

Week 17 - Scaife was the safety valve for Vince Young when Young was in trouble. He was only able to come up with three receptions, but that was a product of his being covered on over the middle pass plays. He did leave the game for a short time after his was hit when the ball arrived, and the ball rebounded into Justin Gage's hands. He would return in the fourth quarter to gain an important first down on a screen pass on the game winning drive.
