There was a lot of hype surrounding Denard Robinson's role with the Jaguars in his rookie year and it was all for nothing. Robinson failed to deliver offensively for the Jaguars and was more or less just a special teams player. There might be more in store for Robinson in his sophomore season in the league as he has exceptional speed, but he will be a tough guy to count on for production on a week to week basis.

2013 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Robinson's first carry came from the wildcat, but the Chiefs easily snuffed him out as he tried to carry it up the middle. Robinson's second carry came in the fourth quarter, as Gabbert handed the ball off to him in the shotgun for no gain.

Week 2 - When Jones-Drew was injured late in the second quarter, Jordan Todman came in to replace him. However, Robinson started the second half. His first play saw him used as a decoy on play action, before his only carry of the day went for no gain up the middle.

Week 3 - Robinson's first action came late in the second quarter. He was tackled in the backfield after a toss however. Early in the third quarter, Robinson took the ball in the wildcat. He was met in the backfield and hit so hard that he coughed up the football. Robinson didn't feature much outside of that.

Week 4 - Robinson was officially labelled as a wide receiver this week. His first touch of the ball came after he lined up as a receiver and was the target of a screen pass. Robinson dropped a pass that went into his chest however.

Week 6 - Robinson was the second back into the game, but his first carry went up the middle for a short gain. In spite of being the second back into the game, he wasn't used again.

Week 7 - Robinson came into the game in the second quarter. He was the second running back to receive a carry and he immediately broke outside of right tackle for a nine yard gain. Robinson didn't return to the field seemingly.

Week 8 - Robinson's first carry came early in the first quarter. He carried the ball up the middle for four yards. On his very next carry, the next play, he was tackled by Ahmad Brooks in the backfield. Robinson broke his next carry outside left tackle for his best run of the season, 21 yards, but the play was negated for holding. Robinson had an eight yard gain in the fourth quarter. He showed good patience before making a decisive cut to turn upfield. He followed that up with a strong run up the middle for a first down.

Week 10 - Robinson was the third back into the game and his first carry went for just two yards. Robinson got his second carry late in the first quarter, but again he was limited to a short gain. After running him up the middle twice, the Jaguars then pitched it to Robinson but he was stopped for a loss after he cut back too early. Robinson's next carry came in the fourth quarter, when he was stopped for just two yards off left tackle.

Week 12 - Robinson came in during the fourth quarter for the first time. He ran the wildcat, before dropping back to throw the ball downfield to Cecil Shorts. It was a good throw, but Shorts was well covered by Joseph.

Week 14 - Robinson came in out of necessity once both backs ahead of him were injured in the fourth quarter. His first involvement was to block on play-action before he took his first two carries for no gain before the Jaguars punted the ball away.

Week 15 - Despite Maurice Jones-Drew's absence, Robinson only had one carry in the first half. He took that carry for a short gain. His second carry came in the third quarter when he broke off right tackle into the secondary. He showed excellent speed and aggressiveness as he attacked the line of scrimmage, but fumbled the ball trying to score the touchdown.

Week 16 - Robinson has featured very little this season and this game was no different. His first touch of the football game in the fourth quarter, when he caught a pitch outside left tackle. Robinson showed excellent acceleration and made a quick decision to get a first down.
