2007 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Owens was targeted early in the game, and Romo looked for him five times in the opening half. Unfortunately, the passes were poorly thrown and three were uncatchable. Owens finally caught his first pass on the opening possession of the second half. He gained 18 yards for a first down and followed it with a 22 yard reception for a touchdown. Owens turned his next reception into a 47 yard touchdown, but his last target was a poorly thrown pass and it was intercepted before it reached him.

Week 2 - Owens had a very solid receiving day for the Cowboys. He was targeted often and only dropped one uncontested pass. Romo seems to trust Owens. Owens did not break many tackles in this game, something he is known for doing. He was covered heavily throughout the game, which could be because Glenn is out so defenses can focus more on Owens. Owens caught his touchdown catch on a fourth down and four from the 34 yard line in the fourth quarter, which showed that the Cowboys have confidence in their offense.

Week 3 - Despite not getting into the end zone, Owens had a big night catching the football for the Cowboys. When Dallas needed a big play, Romo would look to get the ball to Owens. He caught four passes on third or fourth down that moved the chains, and seven of his eight catches went for first downs. Though it has no fantasy implications, a false start infraction in the first quarter followed by a pass interference call in the second cost the Cowboys' offense 15 yards.

Week 4 - Owens had a quiet game from a numbers standpoint, with three receptions for 33 yards, but made a huge block downfield on Patrick Crayton's first touchdown reception. While he didn't put up big numbers, Owens was still the most targeted receiver with nine for the game.

Week 5 - Owens was active in this game, but overall he wasn't much of a factor, as Romo seemed to have difficulty finding him. Owens did have two opportunities in the last 20 seconds to make a game-changing catch, but he could not execute either attempt. The first came on a two-point conversion try to tie the game, but the ball was stripped out of Owens' hands on a great play by CB Jabari Greer. The second play was initially ruled a catch and would have set up a game-winning field goal attempt, but replays showed that Owens dropped the ball. Owens also dropped one other catchable ball in the third quarter.

Week 6 - Owens was targeted a team high ten times. He caught six of the passes for 66 yards and a touchdown. Owens did a nice job of getting his feet down in bounds on a 13 yard out route in the second quarter. He lost a 23 yard grab to an illegal shift penalty. Owens also lost a nine yard catch just before halftime, when he was pushed out before he could get both feet down. However, he caught his 12 yard touchdown pass on the next play. Owens was guilty of a false start penalty. He also dropped his fifth pass of the season on a slightly underthrown Romo pass.

Owens has 16 touchdown receptions in his last 18 games.

Week 7 - Owens dominated the Vikings' secondary, and got open with ease. He caught all seven of the passes thrown in his direction. On his touchdown, the Vikings defense left him open and Romo found him alone in the back of the end zone.

Week 9 - Terrell Owens did not disappoint in an always highly anticipated return to Philadelphia, catching ten passes for 174 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted 12 times on the day, and did not have any dropped passes. On Owens' touchdown, he broke a tackle over the middle, and jogged in for 45 yards play, breaking the game open to start the third Backup tight end Tony Curtis caught a one yard touchdown on a jump ball type pass by Tony Romo to the back of the endzone. Curtis leaped and made a nice athletic play. That was his only target of the game.quarter. Owens was often seen on the sidelines motioning to the crowd, and flapping his arms like an eagle, really enjoying his brilliant game. As expected, Eagles fans were far from receptive.

Week 10 - Owens led the team in receptions and receiving yards, as he compiled six catches for 125 total yards and two scores. He was again a man amongst boys in the New York secondary as he tacked on his fourth touchdown in two games against the Giants this year.

Week 11 - Terrell Owens caught eight passes for 173 yards and four scores, on his way to an outstanding game from the controversial veteran. Somewhat slowed throughout the first half only catching one short touchdown, something lit a fire under Owens in the third quarter, at one point ending three straight drives with deep touchdown passes from Tony Romo, going for 31, 46, and 52 yards respectively. Owens seemed to take advantage of missing free safety Sean Taylor, as he frequently got behind the coverage of Shawn Springs and the safeties were commonly out of position for help. On Owens' last touchdown he caught a dart down the right sideline and Taylor's replacement Pierson Prioleau missed a tackle allowing Owens to get by him for the longest play of the game.

Week 12 - Owens was targeted early in the game on a deep pass play in the end zone that was intercepted, and was used mostly on possession routes that he ran well. His touchdown catch was a beautiful reception on a perfect pass, which helped him end the day with good numbers.

Week 13 - Owens had a huge first half as he had six catches for 147 yards. He caught two early passes for 18 yards but, dropped a very catchable ball on third and eight, deep in Green Bay territory. The Cowboys were forced to settle for their second field goal. Owens came back and caught a big pass for 34 yards on the next drive that put the ball inside the Packers ten yard line. Owens caught a 48 yard pass over the middle early in the second quarter to give him 100 receiving early in the second quarter. He capped off a big first half with a ten yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter. QB Tony Romo and Owens continued their half of pitch and catch as they hooked up for a 37 yard completion on the next possession.

The second half wasn't too kind to Owens as he had a sure touchdown in the end zone but, he had the ball bounce out of his hands and into the hands of Packers CB Al Harris. This was a huge play since it would have given the Cowboys a ten point lead early in the fourth quarter. He only caught one pass for nine yards in the second half, but saw plenty of double teams in the half after scorching the Packers' secondary in the first half of the game.

Week 14 - Owens did not have a good game, but it was due to the Lions making a strong effort to keep him from making any big plays. He did not see any targets in the first half, and his three catches all came in the third quarter. Two of his receptions went for first downs.

Week 15 - Terrell Owens caught only two passes for 37 yards on 12 total targets. Tony Romo just missed Owens on a few deep routes that were just overthrown, and his numbers were not helped by Romo's inaccuracy, though ironically Owens did not have a catch until late in the third quarter when Romo had already injured the thumb on his throwing hand. Owens was the target on all three Romo interceptions, one of which was in the end zone.

Week 16 - Owens looked on his way to a big game, demanding the ball and coming up with a big touchdown early, however exited in the second quarter on a play which he was not even involved. The injury was diagnosed as a high ankle sprain, one which will likely limit him from playing effectively until the playoffs, and perhaps longer.

Week 17 - Owens was inactive with a high ankle sprain.

Week 19 - Owens led the team in targets, and was targeted deep frequently. He caught Romo's only touchdown pass on the game in the first half. Owens finished second on the team in receiving yards. His high ankle sprain didn't seem to bother him during the game.
