Best Case

Muhammad enjoyed the best years of his career in Carolina and is well-known to the organization in Charlotte. After suffering through a series of mediocre Chicago QBs, it should be a relief for Muhammad to be working with a top talent like Jake Delhomme again. If Muhammad can stay healthy and play a full slate of 16 games, he could return to the 1,000-yard receiving level during the 2008 campaign, and possibly approach double-digits in the TD department.

Worst Case

Muhammad is entering his 13th NFL season and is way on the wrong side of 30 (he'll be 35 years old when the 2008 season kicks off). His best season during the last three years was 2006. If Muhammad loses another step during the 2008 training camp, he could fall off a cliff in terms of fantasy production. He also is going to battle the much-younger D.J. Hackett for the No. 2 job. If Hackett were to win that spot, Muhammad could end up as a little-used reserve this year.

Outlook

Most of the Footballguys think Muhammad will finish the year well outside of the top-50 WRs. At the end of 2007, it seemed as if there were too many miles on his tires for a ton of optimism about Muhammad's 2008 prospects. However, the early word out of mini-camps is that Muhammad is in great shape and looks like the Moose of old. If he continues to impress in July, he could swiftly climb up draft boards during August.

2007 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Muhammad was uncharacteristically quiet, with just one reception late in the second half for a very minimal gain.

Week 2 - Muhammad was not very involved in the Bear passing game and was one of the main culprits of Grossman's inaccuracy. He did not help himself by dropping a sure reception in the fourth quarter on a drive that ended in a Grossman interception on the next play.

Week 3 - Despite the high number of targets, Muhammad was only able to catch two passes for 21 yards. All three of Rex Grossman's interceptions were intended for him.

Week 4 - It was nice to see Muhammad involved in the game plan again. He scored Chicago's first touchdown when he caught a 15 yard slant pass in the second quarter, and caught five balls on the day. Through Chicago's first three games he only caught four pass.

Week 5 - Muhammad's numbers suffered as all the Bears' receivers did with Griese at the helm. Griese targeted the tight ends 13 times, and the wide receivers nine.

Week 6 - Muhammed came across the middle late in the game to catch a well thrown ball and broke away from his defender for a 33 yard touchdown.

Week 7 - Muhammad was targeted seven times, catching five passes for 79 yards and coming through with the club's biggest play of the game, catching a 15 yard touchdown with seconds left to win the game.

Week 8 - Muhammad had one catch for seven yards in the first half. He caught his second pass for 16 yards midway through the third quarter. He was not much of factor through most of the game as he and the Bears receivers struggled to get open.

Week 10 - Muhammad was targeted six times, catching four passes for 87 yards, four of which resulted in Chicago first downs.

Week 11 - Muhammad was the clear loser of the QB change. He was only targeted once in the first half, but when he got his chances he looked very good.

Week 12 - Muhammad nearly caught a touchdown with a very nice catch on the right side of the end zone in the first half, but couldn't get both feet down as he tried to pull the ball in while being closely covered.

Week 13 - Muhsin Muhammad caught three passes for 52 yards on six targets. His biggest play of the game came late in the fourth quarter on the final drive of the game. The Bears were fourth and 15 from midfield, and Muhammad caught a Grossman bullet pass for a 20 yard gain to extend the game for a few more plays. With Grossman's strength throwing the deep ball, Muhammad figures to remain an inconsistent option in the offense since it's Bernard Berrian with the deep speed.

Week 14 - Muhammad caught three passes for 22 yards in the first half and would add two catches for five more yards in the second half.

Week 15 - Orton looked for Muhammad at critical moments in this game, but the veteran WR came up with only two catches. He appeared to score on one of them, but after an official review, the play was overturned and spotted at the one yard line.

Week 17 - Muhammad converted on all three passes thrown his way, averaging under ten yards per reception.
