Best Case
Over his three years in the league Morrison has steadily ascended the fantasy charts. He has posted at least 91 solo stops in each season with a low of 96 since his move to MLB in '06. Not only is he a tackling machine but his big play production has steadily increased as he has become more comfortable with his responsibilities and the pro game. With 5 takeaways (4 interceptions), 10 passed defended and as sack, Morrison landed among the top 10 fantasy linebackers in '07. He may not yet have reached his full potential and could push the top 5 in '08.
Worst Case
Barring the obvious injury scenario there is very little risk or downside with Morrison. Even if the Raiders do a complete defensive turnaround there is little chance that he will fall short of the 85-90 tackle mark and there is no reason to expect a decline in big play production. At worst Morrison can be counted on as a solid LB2 in '08.
Outlook
Morison is both productive and consistent. He has established himself as a solid #1 linebacker in 12 team leagues. He has not yet joined the ranks of the elite but it is entirely possible that he could do so as soon as this season. Rank Morrison among the second tier of number one linebackers. He's not on par with DeMeco Ryans or Patrick Willis but he's not far behind and is as safe a bet as anyone to finish among the top 12 linebacker in '08.
