2007 Game Summaries
Week 1 - McMichael was only thrown to twice in the game. His first catch wasn't until there were less than six minutes left in the fourth quarter. He did pick up a first down to open the final drive.
Week 2 - McMichael caught two of the six passes targeted toward him for a healthy 40 yards. He appeared to be in pain at one point when he limped to the sidelines after a catch. He did come back into the contest though.
Week 3 - McMichael was targeted four times in the game, catching two passes for 13 yards.
Week 4 - McMichael was targeted five times, catching three passes for 24 yards.
Week 5 - McMichael caught an eight pass that came up short on a third down play in the second quarter. It would be his only catch of the first half. He would add two more catches in the second half, including a 29 yard pass with 13 seconds left that was for a touchdown.
Week 6 - McMichael did not get many looks, considering the state of the WR corps. The other TE, Dominique Byrd, actually had more. The time share between them did not help either one's final numbers. McMichael got one red zone look, he dropped the ball in the end zone.
Week 7 - McMichael was able to make a couple of key catches, but mainly he is being used to help out the porous offensive line with blocking.
Week 8 - McMichael was largely a non-factor in the game. His 39 receiving yards were a function of him being the last receiver and only receiver open in the passing game. The Rams ran only one play, which resulted in an incompletion, which was actually designed to go to McMichael.
Week 10 - McMichael caught a short two yard touchdown pass from RB Steven Jackson in the second quarter. On the previous play, McMichael had been downed at the two yard line while attempted to leap his way into the end zone.
Week 11 - McMichael caught just one of three passes thrown to him, but showed his good hands coming up with the onside kick late in the game to help the Rams to their second victory of the season.
Week 12 - Both catches were for first downs, and he showed good hands in the process. The lack of catches is due more to the need to use him as a blocker, since the Rams offensive line is still banged up.
Week 13 - McMichael showed how dangerous he can be as a receiver, with his short TD catch. The Falcons were caught off guard because he had been helping out the offensive line so much, he was able to slide off a block and get wide open. Nevertheless, he was stuck blocking most of the time, which limited his potential.
Week 14 - McMichael played hard, and looked threatening when he had the ball, but was called on to be a blocker most of the time.
Week 15 - McMichael's first target came with 3:55 left in the third quarter and went for four yards. His only other catch came in the fourth quarter and covered 18 yards.
Week 16 - McMichael made an impact in the third quarter with a nice one handed reception for ten yards and a first down, on a third and long play to extend a St. Louis drive. McMichael would add three more catches in garbage time when the Steelers had the game well in hand.
