2007 Game Summaries
Week 1 - Martin only caught the first pass that came his way, on the Dolphins' first drive of the game. His other targets were off target and dropped, respectively.
Week 2 - Green did not attempt to throw to tight ends often. Martin was used more as a blocking tight end than a receiving one. They never ran plays for him down the middle. His catches were all in the flats.
Week 3 - Martin caught three passes as the primary TE target for Miami.
Week 4 - Martin caught his only target of the game for six yards. Despite Cam Cameron and Trent Green both being fond of using the tight end on their previous teams, Martin wasn't a big part of the passing game.
Week 5 - Martin caught two passes for 12 yards on three targets for the game.
Week 6 - Martin did catch two touchdown passes in the game, but only because he managed to get open while the pass play broke down. He was used as a safety outlet only and the Dolphins did not design much, if any of the passing game around him. His second touchdown catch was a good looking one as he was forced to jump and wrestle the safety for the ball.
Week 7 - Martin was not a major factor in this game.
Week 8 - David Martin was inactive for this game because of a groin injury.
Week 10 - Martin caught four of his five targets and proved to be reliable in his limited role.
Week 11 - Martin only caught his only pass of the game for seven yards in the third quarter.
Week 12 - Martin came up with two nice catches, one for 21 yards in the second quarter, and the other for 14 yards on a third quarter flea flicker.
Week 13 - David Martin had a productive day as he caught four of his six targets for 22 yards.
Week 14 - Martin caught only two passes for eleven yards. Martin was the target on Cleo Lemon's interception, but Lemon was hit as he threw and the ball hung in the air. Martin did his best to break up the pass, but was unsuccessful. Martin lost a six yard reception to a penalty.
Week 15 - All of Martin's looks came in the first half. He had an 18 yard second quarter receptions nullified by penalty.
Week 16 - Martin made a backwards running stumbling catch to the nine yard line in the third quarter, but the Dolphins were unable to capitalize on the field position. Martin also had a high pass bounce off his hands in the end zone.
Week 17 - Martin caught a nine yard pass late in the first quarter. He would have a bigger catch later in the half when he got open over the middle and QB Cleo Lemon hit him on a 19 yard gain. Martin would come back a few plays later and catch a short pass and turn it up field for a nice 18 yard gain. He led all Dolphins receivers at halftime with three catches for 46 yards. Martin had only one catch for six yards in the second half.
