Best Case
Leftwich was back with the Steelers last year in his second stint with the team. He was supposed to be the starter for the team while Ben Roethlisberger was suspended but suffered a knee injury in the final preseason game. Leftwich was released and re-signed to the team in the month of September. He's a quality veteran backup who could lead the team to victory if Roethlisberger were to miss time due to injury.
Worst Case
Leftwich isn't exactly mobile and it makes durability a big concern for him. The Steelers Offensive Line is patchwork at best and whoever is under center needs to keep their head on a swivel. Leftwich will be the primary backup again but may not see the field until week 17 garbage time if Roethlisberger stays healthy.
Outlook
The Steelers love having Leftwich on the roster. He gives them valuable veteran insurance in case Ben Roethlisberger gets hurt. However, he should not be rostered in re-draft leagues. If Big Ben is injured Leftwich would be an easy pick up on the waiver wire. If forced into the starting lineup Leftwich wouldn't be a top 15 fantasy QB from week to week.
