Best Case
Jon Kitna has been a Top 8 fantasy QB in three different cities (Seattle, Cincinnati and Detroit) and was a 4,000-yard passer in each of his last two seasons as a full-time starter. Even at the ripe old age of 38 years old, Kitna acquitted himself quite well in place of Tony Romo last year. Kitna completed a career best 65.7% of his passes, threw for 237 yards/game and tossed 16 TD passes in just 10 games. He clearly knows Jason Garrett's offense and yet is more than happy to resume his backup role now that Romo is healthy.
Worst Case
Kitna is no spring chicken and last year's performance was beyond what we had seen from him in a long time. As the clear cut backup, Kitna has little fantasy value in traditional redraft leagues at present.
Outlook
Kitna is a backup worth keeping on a watch list, but he shouldn't be on a roster unless Tony Romo gets hurt again this year.

2011 Game Summaries
Week 2 - Jon Kitna relieved Tony Romo at the start of the third quarter as Romo received treatment for a fractured rib in the locker room. Kitna was effective as a replacement and showed a veteran's composure considering he was called on on short notice during a competitive game. Kitna's fist series ended with an interception but the damage was undone as Alex Smith answered with an interception of his own on the subsequent 49ers drive. Kitna settled in on his second drive, engineering a quick 18 yard drive that resulted in a game-tying touchdown throw to Miles Austin. Kitna's best throw came on a 33 yard toss to Kevin Ogletree. Unfortunately most of the gain was called back due to an Ogletree facemask penalty.
