2007 Game Summaries
Week 1 - The Chiefs' top receiver, Eddie Kennison was handed the ball on an end around on the first offensive play of the game for the Chiefs. As he went untouched around the end for what at first appeared would be a good gain, he started limping and hobbled off of the field with an obvious problem to his right leg. After he left the game for good, it was reported to be a right hamstring injury. It was not yet known how serious the injury is. Dwayne Bowe took his place. If he is out for an extended period, he will be missed.
Week 5 - Kennison returned to the lineup but was not much of a factor. He only had one target, which was in the first half. It was a deep pass in the end zone that was not catchable.
Week 10 - Kennison is back and nicely compliments Dwayne Bowe. He caught three of the passes sent his way for 34 yards. Even more significant was his willingness to keep active even when the ball was not meant for him as witnessed by his fumble recovery.
Week 11 - Kennison saw most of his action as the team's punt returner. He fumbled his first return, but the Colts were unable to convert the turnover into any points.
Week 12 - Kennison caught both passes thrown to him. He is still a dependable receiving option but has definitely moved to a new role as the second wide receiver for Kansas City.
Week 13 - Kennison's day began inauspiciously and only got worse from there. He dropped a touchdown in the end zone from 20 yards out on Kansas City's opening possession, and the team settled for a field goal. He was also the targeted receiver on both of Damon Huard's interceptions. And to top it all off, he was the target of a key fourth down pass that fell incomplete and really put the Chargers in the driver's seat. On the play, Kennison actually appeared to have caught the ball and then fumbled it away, which would've led to an easy San Diego touchdown the other way. So ironically, it was actually better for him to have not caught the ball and converted the play. Despite the five targets, Kennison didn't record a catch in the game.
Week 14 - Kennison caught a short pass on the first offensive play of the game for the Chiefs. He was then never targeted again in the contest, leaving him with two total yards of offense.
Week 15 - Kennison was a bit of a surprise. The veteran looked like he had turned back the clock to the days before his season opening injury. He was Croyle's number one target, grabbing six of the ten passes intended for him. He picked up 39 yards, but one of the targets for him was actually an uncounted catch that would have been for 45 yards. It was called back due to a holding call on the Chiefs.
