2007 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Holt led all the Rams' receivers with eight catches for 73 yards. Holt scored the Rams' only touchdown on a three yard slant at the goal line. Bulger looked his way 12 times with Holt picking up three first downs. He also drew two pass interference penalties. One of these led to a Wilkins field goal. There had been a lot of talk lately about how healthy Holt's knee was. He had said he was just 70% and then Coach Scott Linehan said he looked 100%. Saturday, he said he'd let his play do the talking and he answered quite a few questions.

Week 2 - Holt looked like his usual brilliant self for most of the contest. He collected five of the six passes thrown his way for 74 yards and one touchdown. Unfortunately he lost a fumble when the ball was stripped away from him inside the 49ers ten yard line. The Rams were driving and appeared to be heading toward a commanding lead when that play shifted momentum to the 49ers.

Week 3 - Holt was the most targeted St. Louis receiver with six for the game, and he was able to haul in five of those targets for 63 yards receiving. Four of Holt's receptions resulted in first downs, but he was unable to get much going downfield against the Buccaneers. He did show his veteran field presence, falling on a fumble by Steven Jackson and helping his club retain possession.

Week 4 - Holt led the club in targets, with 12, and came down with five receptions for 52 yards. He wasn't helped much by the play of his injured quarterback and the Dallas defense did a great job containing Holt for most of the game. He did seem to be open on one of the Rams' trips in the red zone, but Bulger was sacked on the play and could not get the ball out quick enough to connect with him. Holt was targeted five times on third downs, showing he is still Bulger's go to receiver. He did have a fumble on a short pass completion, but was able to fall on the ball and retain possession.

Week 5 - Holt had a very nice game but, was a non-factor in the first half only catching one pass for 12 yards. That would not be the case in the second half as he caught a 34 yard pass on St. Louis' first drive of the second half. QB Gus Frerotte would go back to him two plays later for an 11 yard touchdown in the right corner of the end zone. He had a ball bounce off his hands, on a play he usually makes, and the deflection lead to an interception. It looked like Holt short-armed the ball on a pass that was very catchable. But Holt would redeem himself by catching a big 26 yard pass in the fourth quarter. He also caught a pass for a two point conversion with 13 second left in the game.

Week 6 - Holt was unable to make an impact this game. With the next two receivers on the depth chart nursing injuries, the Ravens were able to shift all of their attention onto Holt instead, who himself was clearly not playing at full speed due to his continued recovery from knee surgery. He made a few clutch catches for first downs, but they were of the shorter variety, with his longest going for only 17 yards. Though Holt is normally relied on as a deep threat, the Rams offensive line was unable to protect Frerotte long enough for the wideout to get deep. He was targeted once in the end zone, and almost pulled in a near impossible grab in the back corner.

Week 7 - Holt looked like he may have been the only Rams receiver out there in the second half, Bulger threw five in a row to him to start the half, in order to get something going on offense. He pulled in nearly every catchable ball, but uncharacteristically he also dropped a sure touchdown pass.

Week 8 - Holt was a force in the offense very early in the game, going up over the Browns cornerback to haul in a 39 yard reception. Outside of this reception and a nice one yard touchdown catch in the first quarter, Holt had a very quiet day. Most of his 110 receiving yards came late in the game, with the Browns in soft zone coverage. Furthermore, the problems with the Rams offensive line forced Marc Bulger into shorter pass situations, and Holt did not have much of a part to play in that scheme.

Week 10 - Holt looked fast. He made several clutch grabs on third and longs which were crucial in the Rams' dominating performance -- including converting a third and 17, a third and 15, and a third and seven.

Week 11 - Holt's three yard touchdown on the opening drive was the only touchdown in this game. Holt had a 21 yard reception called back on a holding penalty in the second quarter.

Week 12 - Holt was unable to break free for any big gains, but still hauled in five catches, four of which were for first downs. He suffered the most from Bulger's absence, as Frerotte was unable to find him on any of his usual game breaking deep routes.

Week 13 - Holt lit up the Falcons secondary in the first half. His first three receptions were for 23, 38, and 31 yards, with the last ending in the end zone. He was targeted less in the second half as the Rams were trying to protect their lead.

Week 14 - Holt was the only receiver for the Rams that did anything that even resembled production. He was able to catch the ball consistently, but he never had any room to run after the catch.

Week 15 - Holt's first catch went for a ten yard gain that took the ball down to the Green Bay 33 yard line. Later on in the drive, he caught a four yard touchdown pass that tied the game at seven. The score was Holt's seventh touchdown of the year. His final catch was a nice grab on a low ball that went for a seven yard gain on a third and six play. Holt was targeted on a deep pass into the end zone at the start of the fourth quarter, but the pass fell incomplete.

Week 16 - Holt had 19 yard catch in the first quarter and added a 14 yard reception later on. He only had two catches for 33 yards as the Steelers defense did a pretty good job on both Holt and Isaac Bruce in the first half. Holt had only one catch for eight yards in the second half and was seen having a heated exchange with head coach Scott Linehan on the sidelines after a Pittsburgh interception.

Week 17 - Holt was the Rams' best receiving option and finished the game with seven catches for 93 yards. He had a long reception of 31 yards.
