Best Case

Jason Hill is potentially a quality NFL starter. He is strong, very fast and has good hands. He can run good routes and has the toughness required. The receivers in front of him at San Francisco are hardly guaranteed starters. Isaac Bruce is soon to be 36, while Bryant Johnson and Arnaz Battle are yet to show much in their careers to date. Hill has an opportunity to see significant playing time in a Mike Martz offense.

Worst Case

Hill hardly set the NFL alight in his rookie season with the sum total of 1 catch for 6 yards, although he did have injury problems. The signings of Bryant Johnson and Isaac Bruce hardly points to the 49ers being confident of Hill's ability to rise to the challenge of becoming a starter. Potential quite often does not meet reality and Hill has numerous challenges to get playing time, let alone do something if he gets it.

Outlook

Last year was a development season for Hill. Dynasty owners see the potential in Jason Hill, but this is the year he must fulfill that potential. With an unsure receiving corps, Hill should get a chance. Because many are aware of his potential, Hill could quickly become overvalued, but just as likely is that he'll be buried on the depth chart. Do pay careful attention to news out of training camp, because if Hill gets a role then as a part of Mike Martz offense he'll get stats.
