2007 Game Summaries
Week 1 - Green had a decent game in his first ever start for the Miami Dolphins. He completed a high percentage of his passes (63.2%), although a majority of those completions were short dump-off throws. Green rarely looked deep, and when he did, his targets frequently dropped the ball. He seemed to have some chemistry with Chris Chambers, throwing 13 balls his way. Green also passed to his running backs a lot, sending eight balls to Jesse Chatman and six to Ronnie Brown. His lone touchdown of the game can at the very end of the first half, when he scrambled right and found tight end Justin Peele in the end zone. Green did a good job protecting the ball for most of the game, as he was not responsible for any turnovers. He did have a ball that should have been intercepted by Fred Smoot late in the game, but Smoot dropped the ball.
Week 2 - Green was inconsistent with his accuracy all day versus the Cowboys. He overthrew his wide receivers several times, leading to the interception late in the third quarter. He had a lot of power, but his accuracy was a problem. He fumbled and lost a snap, and in the two minute drill fumbled a spike attempt which cost them precious time and a down. He played poorly on all but three Miami drives.
Week 3 - Green completed 23 of 36 for 318 yards and one touchdown, but also threw a costly interception with Miami down 24 to 13. He is trying to gel with his new team and the offense is improving. Miami gained over 400 yards, and if Ronnie Brown can continue to post big numbers the passing game will really open up. Green has a competent receiving corps headed by Chambers and Booker.
Week 4 - Green passed for 158 yards, while throwing one touchdown and two interceptions. Early in the game Green made a mistake by targeting Marty Booker in man coverage, however Thomas Howard dropped back from the middle linebacker position and jumped on the poor decision. He brought the ball back 28 yards to the Dolphins 11, setting up the first score of the game. Later in the game Green was under pressure and tossed the ball up hoping to make a play in the endzone where Chambers was single covered, however this ball was also picked off. Green did lead a third quarter drive down the field and capped it off with a three yard touchdown throw to Justin Peelle on a play action pass. He faced a lot of pressure throughout this game, though even when he had some time he appeared to be shaky and tentative in the pocket. He showed little ability to elude the rush, though he did make one nice play where he got outside the pocket and threw back across the field to an open Ronnie Brown.
Week 5 - Green was injured in the first quarter and was carted off with a head injury. Green fumbled the ball on the play, then was injured trying to block for WR Ted Ginn who recovered the fumble and was attempting to turn the busted play into a gain. Green was hit in the head by Houston DL Travis Johnson's knee and was not moving much after the play.
