2007 Game Summaries

Week 6 - Gray took a knee at the end of the game.

Week 7 - Gray entered the game in the second quarter after Garrard's injury, and he played the entire second half after Garrard was unable to continue. His passes were often erratic, and he frequently overthrew his receivers. His first pass went for negative yardage, and his second was intercepted by Bob Sanders, which set up Manning's second TD drive. Gray dropped back to pass only two times in the third quarter, the first one resulting in an incompletion, and the second resulting in a Dwight Freeney sack in the end zone for a safety. His three fourth quarter drives ended in an INT, a failed fourth down attempt, and a sack/fumble.

Week 8 - Gray was asked to take a safe approach with most of his passes. He appeared nervous initially, and overthrew several of his intended receivers. For a brief stretch he seemed to settle down and looked sharp in completing a couple passes in the intermediate range, but overall did not get into a rhythm, in part due to the Jaguars' emphasis on the running game. Gray displayed good arm strength on the few times he was asked to throw a pass that was not short, but struggled with his touch and accuracy on some of his shorter attempts. He did show good poise in connecting on a nice touchdown pass to Matt Jones and on some throws he made in the fourth quarter, but overall had an uneven game.

Week 9 - Gray showed ease and high comfort level with throwing deep passes, and as a result of completing some of them, garnered a lot of passing yards. However he made some bad and inaccurate throws, which caused him to have three interceptions and miss receivers who were open at other times. Although he was inconsistent, Gray showed if given time to throw he could make some big plays in the deep passing game. He attempted the majority of his passes from the pocket and did not show much of an inclination to scramble when his protection broke down.

Week 10 - Gray attempted mostly shorter passes, and only threw deep a couple times. He started accurately, but then had stretches where he missed open receivers, usually overthrowing them although they were open at the time. He did not lose his poise, and made some key plays late, both running and passing, to help guide his team to the victory. Gray again demonstrated a strong arm, but was not consistently accurate as he relied on his arm strength in an attempt to get the ball to his receivers more than touch.

Week 14 - Quinn Gray came into the game late in the fourth quarter. He threw one pass for 19 yards and it was good for a first down leading to their final field goal. On third and nine, he also scrambled for 15 yards. It took the clock to the two minute warning. Gray just knelt down three times after the warning.

Week 16 - Gray entered the game once the rout was complete -- or at least appeared to be. He added two more touchdowns to the score, on throws to Reggie Williams and backup TE Richard Angulo. Gray seemed a little off when he came in, but once he settled in, he ran the offense like the well-oiled machine it appeared to be.

Week 17 - Gray seemed very comfortable directing the Jaguars' offense and posted stellar numbers as a result. He remained calm in the face of an aggressive pass rush and was in sync with his receivers. Gray looked for his wide receivers throughout the game and did not target his tight ends very much. He displayed a very strong arm both on deep passes and on shorter ones where he rifled the ball to his receivers in tight spaces, and enough touch when needed.
