2007 Game Summaries
Week 1 - Franks had two dropped passes, significantly hurting drives both times. It seemed like Donald Lee got more playing time after the second dropped pass, since Lee was not targeted in the first half and received four targets in the second half. Franks did have one nice shoestring catch in the game, going for a first down.
Week 2 - Franks' first catch of the game didn't come until the third quarter, but he made it count by scoring on a two yard touchdown pass. After the touchdown grab, Franks grabbed three more Favre passes for a total of 18 yards.
Week 3 - Despite not being heavily involved throughout, Franks was directly involved in three very critical plays during the course of the game. He dropped what would have been a sure touchdown late in the first quarter. It would have been a somewhat difficult grab as he was fully extended, but it was certainly a catch that could have and should have been made. He later atoned for that play somewhat by hauling in a five yard touchdown from Favre that put Green Bay up 17-7. He wasn't thrown to again until the fourth quarter, when a Favre pass intended for him in the end zone was batted away on a fourth down pass. While it's clear that Donald Lee is the main receiving option at tight end, it's just as clear that Franks is once again going to be a factor down around the red zone.
Week 4 - Franks was a frequent target in the short passing game, his longest reception was 12 yards. He also had two drops of passes that he could have caught and made his final line even better.
Week 5 - Franks had three quarters of his targets come in the late part of the game; clearly Favre trusts him.
Week 6 - Franks did not have a catch in this game but was targeted by QB Brett Favre in the end zone. On the second and goal play from the Redskins eight yard line, Favre lofted a pass near the back corner of the end zone. Franks secured the pass but fell out of bounds after contact from the Washington defender. He looked a little shaken up following the play and was carted off later in the fourth quarter with what was reported as a knee injury.
Week 17 - Franks' first catch went for a gain of 24 yards in the first quarter. His second grab came at the start of the second quarter and went for six yards down to the Lions' four yard line. On the next play, Franks caught his third touchdown of the year.
