Best Case
Bobby Engram is easily Seattle's most reliable receiver. He was the team's best receiver in 2007, and it looks like he will have a great opportunity to be Seattle's top pass-catcher again in 2008. We know that Nate Burleson led the team in receiving TDs, but Engram was far and away Seattle's best red zone target. He tied Burleson for the team lead with 14 red zone looks, but Engram actually caught nine of his targets for six TDs (compare to Burleson's eight catches for three TDs). Engram led the team in targets (135). His hands are gold as he caught over 70% of those targets for a career-best 94 receptions and his first 1000 yard season ever. Moreover, he finished as the No. 15 fantasy receiver -- higher in PPR leagues. With Burleson's questionable hands, Branch's questionable availability, and the young receivers' questionable skill, Engram could actually improve on those numbers for 2008.
Worst Case
Engram is not young, and at some point, the wheels will come off. Also, Engram is coming off a career year. The likelihood of a 35-year-old receiver repeating a career year is very low. He could be pushed aside by good play from the young receivers behind him, by the return of Deion Branch, by the continued big play aptitude of Nate Burleson, or by the emergence of one of the tight ends as a viable red zone target. The team did not draft TE John Carlson in the second round to have him sitting on the bench. Could Carlson supplant Engram as the team's red zone threat? Finally, the team could either rediscover the running game or use their wealth of speedy RBs as targets out of the backfield.
Outlook
As reliable as Engram is and as much as Hasselbeck is sure to lean on him in the red zone and on third down, the team needs to develop its youth. In 2007, Engram had five double-digit target games including a 21-target game against Cleveland. Engram will still probably receive his several targets per game, but he is not likely to have that many double-digit outings. He should still be quite valuable to fantasy owners in PPR leagues.

Why he is undervalued
according to three of our writers (based on an ADP of 93, WR 35 on June 12 --- go here for the complete article)Sigmund Bloom - It's criminal to get the #1 WR in an offense led by a good QB in the late 8th round. He was 15th among WRs last year and could even improve from that level with Deion Branch likely starting the season on the PUP list. Make Engram a priority in the 7th/8th.
David Dodds - Bobby Engram finished 2007 with career highs in receptions (94), yards (1,147) and touchdowns (6). Add in the fact that Deion Branch tore his ACL in January (and won't likely be ready to start the season) plus DJ Hackett is now in Carolina and you have the recipe for a repeat performance. Jeff Pasquino - I expect that Deion Branch will not be playing until at least October, and possibly miss all of the 2008 season. Engram led all Seahawks in catches (94) and receiving yards (1,147) and is poised to start once again for Seattle. The Seahawks ground game is brand new, so QB Matt Hasselbeck will target his favorite WR most games, giving Engram ample opportunity to be a Top 15 WR again this year.2008 Schedule

2007 Game Summaries
Week 1 - Engram led Seattle in receiving with 64 yards on three catches. He was targeted just three times, and two of his receptions netted Seahawk first downs.
Week 2 - Engram filled the possession receiver role, hauling half of his catches for first downs. Hasselbeck looked to him often on third downs. He and Burleson see roughly the same amount of looks; unfortunately for fantasy purposes, that dulls both of their values slightly.
Week 3 - Engram started off with an 18 yard touchdown catch and settled in to be his usual, reliable self. In the second half he was only targeted twice, but caught both balls for first downs. This was a regular day at the office for Engram, and the touchdown was a bonus.
Week 4 - With his touchdown catch on the afternoon and multiple catches over fifteen yards, Engram showed his versatility as a receiver to play a position other than the slot and make catches directly over the middle of the field.
Week 5 - Engram was easily the best Seattle WR on the field (which isn't saying much). One of his catches went for a first down, and the other was an 11 yard gain on second down and fourteen.
Week 6 - Engram took advantage of getting the start with Branch and Hackett injured, and led the team in both receptions and receiving yards. He clearly has an affinity with Hasselbeck and showed his sure-handedness by catching 90% of his targets.
Week 7 - Engram was Hasselbeck's favourite receiver, but still he was used in a possession type role, catching balls over the middle and on medium comeback routes. Four of Engram's catches were for first downs and were of 14 yards or longer. No red zone looks, however.
Week 9 - Engram was all over the field throughout this entire game. After an effective first half where he was targeted nine times and caught a touchdown pass, the Seahawks went back to him twelve more times in the second half of the game. Engram's stats were not affected by the return of D.J. Hackett to the lineup, as this allowed him to play in his natural slot position and find the open space in the secondary.
Week 10 - Engram's first grab of the game came on the Seahawks' initial drive of the game and went for 16 yards. He followed that up with two grabs in the second quarter for a total of 30 yards and finished his night with a ten yard reception in the fourth quarter. Engram was the targeted receiver on Matt Hasselbeck's only interception of the game.
Week 11 - Engram was reliable as usual, pulling in nearly everything thrown his way. He did have one red zone look, but his main value was in moving the chains, as he accounted for four Seattle first downs.
Week 12 - Engram was the most consistent of the Seahawks receivers. He was able to snag almost everything that came his way, and all of his second half catches were for first downs.
Week 13 - Engram has proven to be a receiver who is capable of going over the middle and making the tough catch while getting hit. Evidence of his toughness came on his final reception when he was hit hard immediately after making the catch on the 50 yard line and he popped right back up, seemingly unaffected by the hit. Even when he made a mistake, fumbling the ball after making the catch on the second play of the second half, he bounced right back and caught a sideline pass for a first down on the very next offensive play.
Week 14 - Engram's touchdown was a thing of beauty as he made a diving catch in the front of the end zone. Engram finished the game with four catches for 55 yards and one score. His longest catch was 20 yards. He was targeted mainly over the middle of the Cardinals secondary.
Week 15 - Engram was targeted ten times and caught all but one of those passes. He ended up with nine catches for 84 yards. Five of those catches went for first downs. Engram did not have any red zone chances in this game. His longest catch went for 19 yards and it got the ball into Carolina territory. The drive ended with Seattle's first points of the game on a field goal.
Week 16 - Engram had a solid game, leading the team in targets, receptions, and receiving yards.
Week 17 - Engram remained a favorite target of Matt Hasselbeck and hauled in a nice over the shoulder pass for a touchdown in the first half. Engram sat out the second half.
Week 18 - Bobby Engram caught four passes for 57 yards, not surprisingly all over the middle. Though he played in two receiver sets, when Nate Burleson came in on three receiver formations, Engram would slide over to the slot. He did have a drop, but played a steady game, accounting for four of the Seahawks' 11 first downs through the air.
Week 19 - Bobby Engram played in the slot, and again was Matt Hasselbeck's favorite target, garnering six receptions, 67 yards, and a touchdown on ten targets. On the 11 yard touchdown, Hasselbeck threw into triple coverage, but Engram still came down with the ball in traffic to put the Seahawks up 14-0 with only four minutes gone in the game. Uncharacteristic of Engram were two drops, both in the second half with the snow falling down heavily.
