Best Case
Trent Edwards gets an NFL lifeline in the form of the Oakland Raiders. With Jason Campbell on shaky ground and an even shakier Kyle Boller currently ahead of him, Edwards has one of the easier paths to a starting job for a number 3 Quarterback. For both Buffalo and his short stint in Jacksonville, Edwards never had quality receivers at his disposal. While the quality of the Oakland receivers can be argued, they have potential and talent. Edwards may be able to find his niche with them.
Worst Case
Trent Edwards was unwanted by both Buffalo and Jacksonville last season after starting for both of them. Neither of these sides were hardly flush with QB talent, so for Trent Edwards to even make another NFL roster is a surprise and with less than 1 passing touchdown a game on average, fantasy owners are likely to treat him like the Bills and Jaguars did.
Outlook
Trent Edwards needs to be considered when doing rankings and projections for 2011. With Jason Campbell a risk, and Kyle Boller even riskier Edwards could see the opportunity to start again at some stage this season. Fantasy owners will need to see something before even considering climbing aboard the Edwards ship, but stranger things have happened in the NFL, so pay attention to how Campbell plays this year and whether Edwards can beat out Boller for the No.2 role.
