Best Case

Dumervil broke through with a Pro Bowl caliber season last year with 12 sacks. He plays much stronger than his frame, which allows him to leverage himself in pass rush. Should he improve in run defense, he could get hit the 40 plus solo tackle plateau to put him firmly in the top ten defensive linemen at year's end. If the Denver defense improves as an all-around unit, Dumervil has the pass rush capability to hit double digit sacks, which would give him top five upside.

Worst Case

The Broncos rotate their defensive linemen frequently. With Ebenezer Ekuban and Jarvis Moss returning and Tim Crowder likely to improve in his second season, Dumervil may not get the snaps he needs to stay consistently productive in the box scores. Dumervil's proven that he can compete despite his short frame, but any lower body injury will significantly hamper his ability to out-leverage offensive lineman. A little bad luck and decreased opportunity would knock Dumervil out of the top twenty linemen.

Outlook

Dumervil is a safe bet to stay in the 30-35 solo, 8-10 sack range. He's likely to see some decreased opportunity with the return of a healthy Moss and Ekuban, which will keep him from outdistancing his 2007 stats. Consider him a solid DL2 in most leagues and a borderline DL1 in big play scoring systems.
