2007 Game Summaries
Week 1 - Droughns was used as a fullback and only had one carry in the game. He gained five yards for a first down. Droughns was targeted once but did not make the catch.
Week 2 - Droughns hauled in the only pass thrown his way for a four yard gain on the Giants' second drive of the game. He also averaged over 21 yards on three kick-off returns.
Week 3 - Droughns was used exclusively as the Giants goal line back, rushing three times for three yards and scoring two touchdowns. Droughns benefited from two plays, both, which brought the Giants down to the one yard line, giving him an opportunity to finish off the drives.
Week 4 - Droughns was the backup running back to Ward, having only five carries on the night.
Week 6 - Droughns got his first carry with the ball on the one yard of the Falcons, and cashed in with a touchdown. It was Droughns' third touchdown of the year, all of them have been from one yard out. His next carry came on a third and short play in the second quarter, and he got all the carries in short yardage situations in the first half. He got more carries in the second half as RB Derrick Ward rested his injured ankle most of the second half. Droughns broke off a long 45 yard run late in the game. He had 12 carries in the second half and ended up being the Giants' leading rusher with 90 yards.
Week 8 - Droughns did not enter the game until the second quarter, but served as Brandon Jacobs' backup for the entire game. He finished with 27 yards on either carries, with no targets on the day. In the fourth quarter Droughns had two separate carries of 11 and eight yards nullified by penalty. He was able to convert three first downs on the day.
Week 11 - Droughns played well in relief of Jacobs, amassing three catches for 26 yards while adding 11 yards on the ground.
Week 12 - Droughns did not find much room to run in his first start as a Giants player. Droughns replaced the injured Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward in the Giants backfield. He was however bottled up by Vikings and finished with just three yards per carry. He did score once on a short one yard dive into the end zone.
Week 13 - Reuben Droughns carried the ball ten times for 25 yards. On his first carry of the game early in the second quarter, Droughns ran the ball in for a one yard score. However, on that play Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith threw a challenge flag pertaining to the previous play. The referees determined it to be on time, though the replays showed that it was thrown after the ball was snapped. Though the challenge was not won, it took a touchdown away from Droughns. Derrick Ward scored two plays later. Midway through the fourth quarter, starter Derrick Ward injured his ankle, and Droughns finished off the game for him, getting six of his ten carries late in the game. With the offense driving, Droughns got in for a two yard touchdown to put the Giants in the lead for good. This score would count.
Week 14 - Droughns had a good game in support of Brandon Jacobs, as he carried three times for 34 yards. His most significant run came on the Giants first scoring drive, as he took a third and short carry 35 yards to the two yard line. The Giants would settle for a field goal, putting their first three points of the game on the board.
Week 15 - Droughns was not utilized frequently Sunday night. He was targeted three times and only had one rush, accumulating only eight total yards on one reception.
Week 16 - Droughns was stopped for a loss on a fourth a goal and ended with three carries for negative five yards. After Jacobs left in the fourth quarter Droughns saw more playing time.
Week 17 - Droughns did not have a carry until the third quarter, and it went for negative one yard. He did not see any other game action.
Week 20 - Droughns was active for this game, but did not see any playing time with Ahmad Bradshaw having a nice game backing up Brandon Jacobs.
