Best Case
Cromartie was a superb play-maker last season, starting only 8 games but leading the league with 10 interceptions and also scoring three touchdowns (once on an interception return, once on a fumble recovery, and once on a missed field goal return). Cromartie's athleticism, hands, and return-skills make him a threat to do well in the big-play department again in 2008. Once he has the ball in his hands, he is a threat to take it to the house from anywhere on the field. While it's unlikely that he'll get double-digit interceptions again, he could match last year's #22-ranking among DBs as he should get more tackles as a full-time starter all year.
Worst Case
Cromartie's fantasy success last year was built on interceptions and touchdowns, and his performance in those areas will be very difficult to repeat. He is not a physical player who will get a lot of tackles in run support, so if his INT total drops off, his fantasy value will suffer quite a bit.
Outlook
After last season's exciting display of talent, Cromartie may overvalued as a fantasy CB in 2008 based on his 2007 name recognition and highlight reel. While he is one of the more exciting corners in the league, he won't get consistent fantasy points from tackles, and he is unlikely to match his 10 interceptions from a year ago. While he does have significant upside potential, he should realistically be looked at as a DB3 or DB4 in twelve-team fantasy leagues.
