Outlook
Carr was a second round selection for the Oakland Raiders and is their next "quarterback of the future" and apparently now their quarterback of the present. A strong preseason and Matt Schaub's struggles have led him to be named the week 1 starter. Carr had a monster season at Fresno State in 2013, becoming only the 4th FBS quarterback to throw for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. Carr is athletic quarterback with a good arm, but some question how much of his production was a result of the spread offense run at Fresno State. His quick release and arm talent will assure he gets a long look. The Raiders offensive line could make things difficult on the rookie.

Raiders | Derek Carr burned the blitz in 2019 (Sun May 17, 04:10 PM) - Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr posted an NFL-best 95.9 QBR against the blitz (defined as any play when the defense rushed five or more players) in 2019. Carr also led all quarterbacks in completion percentage (71.6) and yards per attempt (11.11) against the blitz. Our View: Carr played well when he was under duress in 2019. His spot at the top of the depth chart is under duress this offseason as the Raiders added Marcus Mariota in free agency.
