Donald Butler has never posted the huge numbers you'd like to see from a 3-4 linebacker but there are reasons to hope for improvement. For one, Butler has a young and improving defensive line in front of him. Another is that despite playing in only 12 games last year he actually improved in sacks and logged just over 1/2 a tackler more per game. If Butler could put together a 16 game season similar to what we saw last year he should be up over 100 total tackles and pushing 5 sacks. Finally, Butler is only entering his third season in the league. Like a majority of this Chargers defense, there is more potential than proven results.
