Best Case

Rex Grossman plays with confidence, the offensive line holds up well and Marty Booker re-discovers the fountain of youth, tapping into his previous success several seasons ago with the club. If all of this were to occur, Booker could have an 800+ yard / six-touchdown season for the Bears.

Worst Case

The Bears struggle blocking, passing and throwing the ball in 2008, limiting the production at the receiver position. Booker has lost a step and doesn't surpass his mediocre numbers of the past several seasons, slotting into a role that nets him 50 receptions and a couple of touchdowns on the season.

Outlook

The interesting thing with Booker is that his worst case scenario (not involving injuries) is likely his 2008 outlook as well. Booker will get playing time but he will likely put up only marginal stats throughout the season. He has had at least 556 receiving yards in five straight seasons but hasn't eclipsed 747 yards since the 2002 season. It is likely he will slot in somewhere between 556 yards and 747 in 2008 which along with his lack of touchdowns throughout the years, will make him a marginal fantasy prospect at best this season.

2007 Game Summaries

Week 1 - Booker saw most of his looks in the first half. He nearly scored in the third quarter, but was wrestled down short of the goal line. Booker had a drop in the first half, but also converted one of his receptions and an end around into a first down.

Week 2 - Booker caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter. He did not do anything spectacular, but he worked his way into a good day.

Week 3 - Booker seemed to have the confidence of Green in the first half, but was only targeted once in the second half when Miami fell behind. He gained 60 yards on five balls but did not score.

Week 4 - With the exception of a short reception of eight yards for a first down, Marty Booker was a non factor in this game. He was targeted on a pass over the middle that was intercepted, and later had a drop over the middle.

Week 5 - Booker was the most targeted Miami receiver, getting ten balls thrown his way and hauling in five receptions for 45 yards.

Week 6 - Booker was very quiet for most of the afternoon only catching two passes. He is clearly not part of the Chambers/Brown combination that is the heart of the Dolphins offense.

Week 7 - Lemon threw the ball behind Booker on a number of occasions, limiting the wide receiver's production. Booker should slide into the number one receiver spot for the Miami Dolphins with WR Chris Chambers' recent departure.

Week 8 - Booker caught three passes for 31 yards, on four total targets. Two of his catches were for 13 yards, but was not targeted down the field at all. With the trade of Chris Chambers it was assumed as though Booker would take over as the top target, but that distinction seemed to go to Derek Hagan, at least in this game.

Week 10 - Since Miami traded Chris Chambers, Booker has become WR1, but he only managed to catch two of his11 targets. He dropped two passes that were right in his hands and had another potential first down late in the game knocked away along the sidelines. He managed to find the openings in the Buffalo secondary but he couldn't make enough plays. Of Lemon's 13 incomplete passes, nine were thrown to Booker.

Week 11 - Booker had no catches and no targets in the first half, but did catch a 19 yard pass early in the second half. It would be his only completion and his only target of the game as Miami's pass offense sputtered to move the ball.

Week 12 - Booker was very involved in the passing attack, especially late. Five of his targets came in the final quarter, as did his two 20+ yard catches.

Week 13 - Marty Booker saw eight targets come his way as he snagged four of them for 36 yards.

Week 14 - Booker missed the game with a knee injury.

Week 15 - Booker led the team in receptions and targets. He was Lemon's go to guy when the team needed a first down, and most of his targets came on medium hitch or out routes.

Week 16 - Booker was a top target for QB Cleo Lemon but the Dolphins as a team were unable to get anything worthwhile going on offense and Booker did not contribute anything memorable in the loss.

Week 17 - Booker had only one catch for nine yards in the game.
