2007 Game Summaries

Week 2 - Bollinger filled in for an injured Tarvaris Jackson during the overtime period. Taking over at his own 20 yard line, Bollinger quickly completed three passes to get the Vikings near midfield. However, he fumbled the snap on the next play, which eventually led to the game-winning field goal for Detroit. It's worth noting that Bollinger looked much more comfortable and confident in the pocket than Jackson looked at any point in the game.

Week 8 - Bollinger replaced Kelly Holcomb in the third quarter, and led three full series. He played well, and gave the team a little spark, but also was not flawless. He did lead the Vikings on a field goal drive in his first possession. He next two drives were largely unsuccessful though.

Week 9 - Bollinger entered the game when starter Tarvaris Jackson was knocked out of it. Bollinger's stats won't wow anyone, and that's because 40 of his 95 yards came on one play. But it was that one play that was the death blow for San Diego, as the 40 yard bomb ended up in the hands of Sidney Rice down the sideline. It put Minnesota up 21-14 and turned out to be the game-winning score. Essentially, it turned out that Bollinger was most effective at what the Vikings really needed him to do -- and that's to hand the ball off to RB Adrian Peterson. With San Diego keying on Peterson so much and the fact that he still set the all-time single game rushing record, it's safe to say that this will be the approach going forward whether the Vikings QB is Jackson or Bollinger. Jackson's status will be updated throughout the week, so be sure to check with us if your hopes are riding on the starting QB for the Vikings (and we sincerely hope for your sake that they aren't).

Week 10 - Bollinger did not bring the same spark to the passing game he brought in his limited relief role in week 9. The most glaring weakness was his play on third downs. Bollinger completed just one pass on four attempts on third down, and was also sacked twice. As mediocre as Bollinger's numbers were, they were padded by a couple long drives when the game was well out of hand. He did not look good, and did not get in any sort of rhythm all afternoon.
