Best Case
Jon Beason quickly grew into a solid middle linebacker in his rookie year, showing solid run support skills and coverage ability. If he remains at MLB all season, he has 95+ solo tackle potential and will likely put up reasonable big play numbers. That kind of production would likely put him in the top ten overall in all scoring systems.
Worst Case
If rookie Dan Connor impresses during the preseason, Beason could be moved back to the weak side linebacker position. Beason will still be effective there, but his tackle opportunity will be limited enough to drop him as low as the LB2-3 tier. If Beason stays in the middle, the Panthers' shaky depth at defensive tackle could force him to face more blockers. That could hamper Beason's ability to get sideline-to-sideline and negatively affect his tackle numbers.
Outlook
Beason's outlook is dependent on how quickly Dan Connor progresses and whether the Panthers decide to move Beason to the weak side to make room for the rookie. As a MLB, Beason is a top tier IDP option. On the weak side, he falls into the deep LB2 tier, albeit with plenty of upside.
