Outlook
Barton has generally been underrated for much of his 9-year career. With the departures of Victor Hobson and Jonathan Vilma, he now becomes more of a critical piece of the Jets defense than he was in the past. He's managed to play a full season in 7 of his 9 seasons in the league so he doesn't appear to be much of an injury risk. Like most Jets players, Barton had a disappointing season last year thanks at least in part to the emergence of Harris. This year, Barton should have little trouble keeping his starting job, but he figures to lose some playing time to Brad Kassell on running downs. Barton is a solid all-around player who doesn't do anything great but does a lot of things well and that should keep him on the field quite a bit. He's a solid depth player in deeper IDP leagues.
