2012 Game Summaries
Week 1 - Aromashodu did a great job catching the meager amount of balls thrown his way, each one for a significant gain. He was not, however, a big part of the offense and looks as if he will remain an occasionl weapon and no more.
Week 2 - Aromashodu struggled to gain separation and couldn’t really get open. Even when passed to, he had a hard time reeling in the catch. He gets hot and cold during the year, and this was definitely one to file under cold. At this point, he could be the odd man out when Jerome Simpson returns.
Week 3 - Aromashodu was only targeted twice but caught both for 24 yards total. His first catch was an adjustment to Ponder’s scramble, and Aromashodu was taken down immediately. The second catch was the result of good separation on his comeback route, sitting in the soft part of the zone beyond the first down marker.
Week 5 - Aromashodu stepped in as the Vikings second receiver and did an excellent job against Tennessee. He ran crisp routes and quarterback Christian Ponder was happy to exploit the single-coverage the Titans had rolled his way. Aromashodu's best catch came on a deep pass to the left in the second quarter. On the play, Aromashodu quickly broke off the line and found himself with a step on his man down the left sideline. Quarterback Christian Ponder placed the ball nicely over Aromashodu's shoulder allowing for a nice 19 yard gain.
Week 6 - Aromashodu was an afterthought at best in this offense and Ponder isn’t looking for him really at all. In fact, there was one play early in the game where Ponder threw to Percy Harvin in double coverage while Aromashodu was pretty open. He was unable to get separation most of the time and struggled to get open otherwise, which accounts for Ponder’s lack of acknowledgment of his existence for most of the game.
Week 10 - Aromashodu wasn't targeted at all in this game before he appeared over the middle in the third quarter. Aromashodu caught a crossing route in front of a defender, in stride with his hands before sprinting across the field for a very big gain.
Week 13 - Aromashodu isn’t a factor or person this offense likes to lean on, and only saw one target all day. He was well covered by Devon House. There was a little contact and the Vikings lobbied for a flag but none came. Aromashodu made a pretty good break on the route, but Ponder’s pass was very slow getting to him and so House had plenty of time to deflect it regardless of any pass interference.
