Best Case
The Broncos were very happy sign Anthony Alridge as an Undrafted Free Agent following the 2008 NFL Draft, and with good reason. "Quick Six" is his nickname, and he often lives up to that title. Anthony is a quick and agile player with gamebreaking speed. He averaged an impressive 7.1 yards per carry during his career at Houston, and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Alridge can also be used very effectively as a receiver out of the backfield, he did spend an entire season as a slot receiver in college. When in open space Quick Six is extremely dangerous as defenders have no idea what move is coming next. The Broncos could use him as a 3rd down back, and also as a great kick/punt returner. Playing the #2 in a RBBC means that Alridge could be a top 30 back.
Worst Case
Alridge is a playmaker, but he went undrafted for a reason. He is too small to play anything more than a change of pace RB. Anthony will also have to prove that he can stay injury free if he is to make the Broncos final roster. Even the slightest injury could de-rail his NFL career in Denver. If he does make the team, Alridge could have a few hundred yards receiving, and some minimal special teams stats.
Outlook
Mike Shanahan loves what he's seen of Alridge in college, and now it's time to find out if he can make it in the pros. The Broncos have plans for Alridge not only as a runner and receiver, but also as a valuable part of their special teams unit. Anthony should make the team and start wowing coaches and fans from the word go. Even if Anthony struggles as a RB early, the Broncos could find a spot for him as a slot receiver. Quick Six and the Torain Train could end up being the Broncos RBBC of the future.
