On his sole catch, Royal made a very nice reception on a short slant route which he was able to add some yards to. For the most part when in, Royal was a blocker.
Receiving: 2 / 29 / 1 on 2 targets
Royal's big play came on the opening drive to give the Browns an early lead. Cleveland lined up in an odd formation, where they had 3 receivers split out on the left and three players split out on the right, one of them being the right tackle. It left four men on the line of scrimmage and the Bengals were a bit confused on the formation. With Josh Cribbs on the right, looking like it was a bubble screen, the defense shifted focus to him and when the ball was snapped, Royal was able to streak by his defender and lay out for a perfect TD reception.
