Receiving: 2 / 24 / 0 on 2 targets
Leonard entered the game in the first-quarter on a 4th a 2 situation. The Broncos must have thought he was the upback for the punt unit, but there was no punter behind Leonard and he was really lining up in a Wildcat-like formation. Leonard took the snap and ran for five yards, giving the Bengals a first down and some much-needed momentum. It was his longest carry of the day, but Leonard provided Carson Palmer with a solid receiver out of the backfield too. All of his targets were on short passes, and one he turned into a long gain on the Bengals only scoring drive of the day.
Receiving: 2 / 17 / 0 on 2 targets
With DeDe Dorsey released last week, Leonard is firmly entrenched as the third down back and was again effective as an outlet option and on a screen play on passing downs.
Receiving: 1 / 11 / 0 on 2 targets
Leonard was quiet in his third down role, but made his lone reception count, lunging for a first down on a long fourth down situation late in the game. He was also wide open on a successful two point conversion pass play.
Rushing: 1 / 4 / 0
Receiving: 6 / 28 / 0 on 7 targets
Palmer continues to rely heavily on Leonard in third down situations. When Leonard isn't contributing in pass protection, he's being used on screen and dump routes frequently. He was targeted on a shovel pass inside the five yard line in the game tying drive.
Rushing: 1 / 1 / 0
Receiving: 3 / 30 / 0 on 3 targets
Leonard managed only a one yard gain on a short yardage situation late in the fourth quarter, but was again effective on a variety of screen and shovel pass plays in the two minute and third down offense.
Rushing: 3 / 11 / 0
Receiving: 3 / 19 / 0 on 3 targets
Leonard was the Bengals' back on passing downs. He converted on multiple third downs, breaking tackles and turning a one yard gain into a five yard gain on a shovel pass and banging forward to pick up another first down on a short yardage carry. He's also improving in pass protection and has become a vital part of the Bengals' third down package.
Rushing: 4 / 8 / 0
Receiving: 3 / 24 / 0 on 3 targets
Leonard continues to be a valuable outlet receiver and short yardage threat on passing downs. He converted another third down on a catch out of the backfield and gained tough yards spelling Bernard Scott after Cedric Benson's injury.
Rushing: 13 / 36 / 0
Receiving: 0 / 0 / 0 on 1 targets
Leonard filled his usual role on passing downs and saw more carries as a complimentary power back when Bernard Scott needed a break. Leonard was stopped inside on the majority of his carries, but refused to go down on first contact and made the Raiders gang tackle him to the ground.
Rushing: 1 / 1 / 0
Receiving: 1 / 6 / 0 on 1 targets
The Bengals didn't have many long passing downs against Cleveland, leaving few snaps for Leonard. The Browns had Leonard well defensed, preventing him from getting open on screens and gang-tackling him well on his lone carry, a pitch sweep that went for just a yard.
Receiving: 2 / 25 / 0 on 2 targets
Leonard was the primary back on passing downs and made two strong gains on screen passes, leaping over a defender to gain more yards on one play.
Receiving: 2 / 12 / 0 on 3 targets
Leonard made a quick catch in the flat that he was able to turn upfield and extend for a first down on a third down play, but never had a regular role in the offense.
Receiving: 2 / 12 / 0 on 2 targets
Leonard was again the team's primary back on passing downs and he converted yet another third and long by carrying tacklers past the first down marker after catching a shovel pass from Carson Palmer.
Rushing: 1 / 8 / 0
Receiving: 0 / 0 / 0 on 1 targets
Leonard was the Bengals' third down back, but also saw time as the team's second tight end with J.P. Foschi inactive. He had an eight yard gain on a draw play on third and long.
