Week 1 vs. SEA

Receiving: 6 / 52 / 1 on 6 targets

Royal did not appear to be a big part of the game plan so much as a dump off option, which accounts for most of his receiving totals (all but one were for seven yards or less). The one longer one, however, was a dandy little catch at the goal line. On all of his catches, he showed good hands. The Bills appeared to look to him more often as the game progressed.

Week 2 vs. JAX

Receiving: 0 / 0 / 0 on 2 targets

Royal was unable to haul in his two targets, although he was affective as a blocker.

Week 3 vs. OAK

Receiving: 4 / 34 / 0 on 5 targets

Royal didn't light up the stat sheet by any means, and he was more of a safety valve than anything. That said, he did catch four passes and could provide some value to a fantasy team starving for a tight end, especially since it appears that the Buffalo offense is vastly improved from last year's version.

Week 4 vs. STL

Receiving: 1 / 8 / 0 on 3 targets

His role in the passing offense is somewhat limited, although he is a TD threat. He is a good blocker and has pretty good hands but the Tight End position has never been a focal point of the Bills offense.

Week 5 vs. ARI

Receiving: 2 / 8 / 0 on 3 targets

Royal was not a positive factor in the passing game. However, he fumbled a catch in the second half that was recovered by Arizona.

Week 7 vs. SD

Receiving: 4 / 53 / 0 on 6 targets

Royal's productivity is fairly inconsistent, but as has been the case with most opposing tight ends this season, he was able to put up nice numbers against San Diego. He wasn't targeted in the end zone, however, and he didn't catch a pass in the second half.

Week 8 vs. MIA

Receiving: 2 / 26 / 0 on 4 targets

A tough afternoon for Royal as he dropped the first two passes thrown to him and then fumbled in the fourth quarter when he was trying to pick up a first down.

Week 9 vs. NYJ

Receiving: 5 / 70 / 0 on 6 targets

Royal had six looks go his way and was the Bills leading receiver because of it. He caught five balls for 70 yards and was targeted deep down the seam on a couple plays. Royal showed good hands and a nice ability to run after the catch as he powered his way for some tough yardage late.

Week 10 vs. NE

Receiving: 1 / 6 / 0 on 4 targets

Royal managed to catch one of the three hurried passes that came his way.

Week 11 vs. CLE

Receiving: 1 / 22 / 0 on 3 targets

Royal did not catch a pass in the first half. His first catch of the game came on a big catch for 22 yards over the middle late in the game as Buffalo tried to rally from a two point deficit.

Week 12 vs. KC

Receiving: 3 / 29 / 0 on 4 targets

On third and goal from the one yard line on the Bills' first drive, Royal was wide open in the end zone but Edwards badly over threw him. Lynch scored on the next play, and Royal went on to catch three passes for 29 yards. A first down catch in the second quarter was negated by penalty.

Week 14 vs. MIA

Receiving: 0 / 0 / 0 on 1 targets

Royal missed the last game with a hamstring injury but returned to the lineup. Unfortunately he dropped a pass in the third quarter that hit him in the hands and would have been a first down.

Week 15 vs. NYJ

Receiving: 1 / 5 / 0 on 3 targets

Royal only caught one of his three targets, which was good for just five receiving yards.

Week 16 vs. DEN

Receiving: 1 / 8 / 0 on 2 targets

Royal had a tough time finding holes in the secondary but caught one pass for eight yards.

Week 17 vs. NE

Receiving: 2 / 30 / 0 on 5 targets

Royal was a frequent target of QB Trent Edwards, but only could manage two receptions for 30 yards. Again, it wasn't the best day for the Bills passing offense due in large part to the elements.
