TE dynasty rankings by Jeff Pasquino

|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jimmy Graham | NO | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Jimmy Graham is a force over the middle and in the Red Zone, and he is one of Drew Brees' favorite targets. With Sean Payton back in the mix, Graham should be favored to be the top fantasy tight end in 2013, especially when you consider the health issues for the two studs in New England.

| 2 | Jason Witten | DAL | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Jason Witten set a record last year with his 110 receptions as a tight end, and with the way that Dallas has been going in the passing game, Witten should remain the second option for quarterback Tony Romo. After stud wide receiver Dez Bryant, Witten will get the most targets as Miles Austin continues to fade. Romo and Witten have a tight bond and that goes a long way, especially towards racking up valuable fantasy numbers.

| 3 | Rob Gronkowski | NE | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Rob Gronkowski is a tough tight end to rank this year, thanks to his numerous surgeries on both his forearm and now his back. When he is 100%, he is the top tight end in the game and a force with one of the best quarterbacks to ever play throwing in his direction quite often. With Tom Brady losing Wes Welker, Gronkowski could see even more action - if he is ready to go each and every week. I would feel better taking Jimmy Graham or Jason Witten first from a risk standpoint, but if both are gone and Gronkowski is there, I would be tempted.

| 4 | Vernon Davis | SF | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: The San Francisco 49ers need someone to step up to fill the big hole left behind in the wake of the Michael Crabtree injury. Odds are that both Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis will be the two names at the top of the list, both for need and also for targets this year from QB Colin Kaepernick. Davis can fill this role and develop further as both a player and a leader, which could easily make him a stud fantasy tight end once again.

| 5 | Aaron Hernandez | NE | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Normally the second tight end on a team is not much of a fantasy option, but New England is not your normal passing offense. Hernandez is moved all over the field and Tom Brady gets him the ball quite often. With Wes Welker gone, Hernandez could see even more targets this year, especially if Rob Gronkowski misses time again.

| 6 | Kyle Rudolph | MIN | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Kyle Rudolph was the favorite target for Christian Ponder last year, thanks in part to the loss of Percy Harvin for over half of the year. Ponder and Rudolph connected all year to give Rudolph impressive numbers. Both players will look to build on last year's efforts as the Minnesota passing game develops with new wide receivers Cordarrelle Patterson and Greg Jennings. Defenses will have to play Adrian Peterson first, which should open up the middle for Rudolph to take advantage again this year.

| 7 | Owen Daniels | HOU | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: The Houston Texans have been looking for what must seem like forever for a second wide receiver to help out Andre Johnson and quarterback Matt Schaub. Kevin Walter was just not the answer, nor was Jacoby Jones. The Texans drafted DeAndre Hopkins in the hopes that he becomes that receiver, but until he learns the pro game and develops, tight end Owen Daniels will see a ton of targets. Expect big numbers for Daniels in 2013.

| 8 | Dennis Pitta | BAL | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Dennis Pitta emerged for Baltimore as the best pass catching tight end, a statement that could have been said since he was first drafted as more of a receiver from BYU. Pitta will get even more work this year with Anquan Boldin gone (49ers), as the Ravens need a viable second target after Torrey Smith for QB Joe Flacco. Pitta will work as the second target with Jacoby Jones used as the third option. Do not be surprised if Ed Dickson sees the field more as a second tight end, but the fantasy tight end to own in Baltimore is clearly Pitta.

| 9 | Greg Olsen | CAR | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Greg Olsen very quietly put up strong fantasy numbers last year in Carolina, catching 69 passes for 843 yards and five scores from Cam Newton. The Panthers are one of those teams that does not seem to have two viable wide receivers, which makes the tight end position the second most targeted spot in the offense. Until Carolina develops someone to compliment Steve Smith outside, I expect Olsen to put up strong TE1 fantasy numbers.

| 10 | Jared Cook | STL | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Jared Cook moves from Tennessee to St. Louis, where he will become the move tight end for the Rams. Head Coach Jeff Fisher will use Cook early and often in the passing game, as he has surrounded quarterback Sam Bradford with more weapons this year. Cook should see far more targets and open spaces with the Rams, which makes him a valuable tight end to grab with huge upside.
(hide this) | |||
| 11 | Martellus Bennett | CHI | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Martellus Bennett may be working on his third team in the NFL, but this might be his best chance to shine. The Bears want to get their tight end going under new head coach Marc Trestman, and Bennett will work with quarterback Jay Cutler to get on the same page early. The Bears do not have a strong wide receiver aside from Brandon Marshall, so Bennett could easily become the second-most targeted player in Chicago.

| 12 | Tyler Eifert | CIN | |
| 13 | Antonio Gates | SD | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Antonio Gates may be on the wrong side of 30, but he is still a force to be reckoned with when he is healthy. I expect him to be back to 100% and have a revitalized year with the Chargers, who need Gates and Rivers to rediscover their connection once again to improve both of their fantasy numbers. Gates is a relative bargain if he rebounds to his older self, even if only for this year.

| 14 | Dustin Keller | MIA | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Dustin Keller signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, where he will look to rejuvenate and revitalize his career in 2013. Keller will be part of a much better receiving corps in Miami, along with former Steeler Mike Wallace for second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Keller is very incentivized to have a big year and play up to his Top 10 fantasy numbers from 2010 and 2011.

| 15 | Brent Celek | PHI | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Brent Celek remains the top tight end in Philadelphia in a new offense designed by Chip Kelly. Kelly will want to use 2-3 tight ends at any given time, which is why he both added James Casey and also drafted Zach Ertz. Celek will see plenty of snaps and is already learning the new offense at a rapid pace. Celek has been a Top 10 fantasy tight end twice in his career, so he is a solid TE2 option with TE1 upside, especially in PPR leagues.

| 16 | Brandon Myers | NYG | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Brandon Myers was a PPR monster in Oakland last year, but he struggled to find the end zone until the second half of the season. Now with the Giants, Myers is likely to be the third-most popular target for Eli Manning after his top two wide receivers (Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks). Myers could make himself a very popular player for the Giants by working the middle of the field, moving the chains and getting open in the Red Zone. He is a high upside TE2 with TE1 potential.

| 17 | Dwayne Allen | IND | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: The Indianapolis Colts are another team with young talent on offense that is developing together towards a great future. Similar to New England, the Colts use two tight ends quite often, a scheme QB Andrew Luck is very familiar with since using it at Stanford. Both Coby Fleener and Dwayne Allen are big targets that can get open over the middle and in the Red Zone. While it may seem like Allen outperformed Fleener last year, Fleener missed four games - so both tight ends were comparable on a per-game basis. Both Colts tight ends are value fantasy TE2s in 2013 and beyond.

| 19 | Zach Ertz | PHI | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: The Philadelphia Eagles could not help themselves when Zach Ertz was sitting there when it came to select in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Ertz was considered one of the top two tight ends available (Tyler Eifert) and new head coach Chip Kelly wants to utilize the tight end often for his fast paced offense that is being installed in Philadelphia. Ertz will be the second tight end for the Eagles in 2013 behind Brent Celek, but like many teams today, two tight ends could see the field quite often. This could be Celek's last year in Philadelphia, so Ertz may be the starter as soon as 2014 for the Eagles.

| 20 | Fred Davis | WAS | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Washington needs a tight end option to help out their young quarterbacks, either Robert Griffin III or Kirk Cousins. Fred Davis is a Pro Bowl caliber tight end - when healthy. That was the problem last year, rupturing his Achilles' tendon in Week 7 last season. Davis is on track to be ready for Week 1 this year and could easily be the most targeted Redskin in the Washington passing attack.

| 21 | Brandon Pettigrew | DET | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Brandon Pettigrew is the starting tight end for the Detroit Lions, which translates to becoming one of the most targeted players in the NFL. Matthew Stafford led all quarterbacks in passes attempted last year, and aside from Calvin Johnson, there are not any other receivers who have stepped up to be 100+ target options for the Lions. Pettigrew is pushing to have another strong season, bulking up and gearing up for a big year with Detroit and making the most of his 100+ targets again this season.

| 22 | Ladarius Green | SD | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: At some point, Antonio Gates will be winding down his Pro Bowl career, and Ladarius Green is poised to be the next man up on the San Diego depth chart. Green may see more targets this year, but odds are that he will have to wait at least one more season to really see enough snaps and chances to become a fantasy relevant tight end.
(hide this) | |||
| 23 | Jermichael Finley | GB | show |
[Jun 5th] Jeff Pasquino says: It is just so hard to trust Jermichael Finley. He has had so many chances to be the stud tight end in the top passing attack in the NFL with Aaron Rodgers, but he just has not been able to step up and deliver. Until he gets remotely close he will be a mediocre TE2 for fantasy purposes in my book with so many better options across the league. Green Bay is also going towards a more balanced offense, adding two rookie rushers (Eddie Lacy, Johnathan Franklin), which will likely eat away at the overall Packer passing game.
(hide this) | |||
| 24 | Travis Kelce | KC | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Andy Reid loves to move the ball via the pass, and he wants to use the tight end spot as a big target for his quarterback. Kansas City grabbed Kelce in the third round in April, and they will work him in to the new offensive scheme right away. New quarterback Alex Smith will target Kelce often since the Chiefs do lack playmakers in the passing game after Dwayne Bowe.

| 25 | Jermaine Gresham | CIN | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: If Jermaine Gresham was watching Round 1 of the NFL Draft, he had to be disappointed when the Bengals selected Tyler Eifert. Gresham can view the young tight end as a complimentary player to help the squad or a threat to Gresham's job - either way, Gresham has to step up and perform this year else he will be somewhere else soon. Gresham has the chance to be the second option again this year in the Bengal's offense, but he has work cut out for him.

| 26 | Jordan Cameron | CLE | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Jordan Cameron is getting a lot of preseason buzz, and for good reason. The Browns love their young starting tight end, and Brandon Weeden will need a big, reliable target over the middle. Cameron is a guy you can draft late that has a high upside - perfect for a late selection in your draft.

| 27 | Marcedes Lewis | JAX | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Blaine Gabbert needs some help this year, and for the first four weeks of the season, it will not be coming from Justin Blackmon. That means the rest of the receivers have to step up, starting with both Cecil Shorts and Marcedes Lewis. Lewis has been a solid fantasy tight end in the past, scoring 10 times in 2010 to finish in the Top 5 tight ends that season. He can certainly push towards that mark again if he develops chemistry with Gabbert, but it will be a challenge for sure given the offensive struggles in Jacksonville.

| 28 | Zach Miller | SEA | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Seattle has a lot of offensive weapons, from quarterback to tailback to wide receiver. Unfortunately for Zach Miller, he is near the bottom of the intended target list for Russell Wilson on most play calls. With Percy Harvin being added to Seattle's wide receiver corps, Miller moves even further down the list. Miller has the talent to be a fantasy TE2 with TE1 upside, but the Seattle offense limits his ability to become a playmaker simply because he does not get enough targets.
(hide this) | |||
| 29 | Delanie Walker | TEN | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Delanie Walker has moved on from the San Francisco 49ers and the shadow of Vernon Davis. Now in Tennessee, Walker becomes the starting tight end for the Titans, who let Jared Cook move on to St. Louis. Walker is not a flashy player, but QB Jake Locker can certainly use a big target over the middle now and then to relieve some of the pressure that Locker will face in a make or break season. If Tennessee gets Walker 5-6 targets a game, he becomes a viable fantasy TE2 with weekly matchup upside.

| 30 | Jordan Reed | WAS | |
| 31 | Rob Housler | ARI | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: The Cardinals acquired a much better starting quarterback in Carson Palmer over the offseason, which greatly improved the fantasy outlook for all of the Cardinal receivers. Housler will be the starting tight end once again this year for Arizona, and given that Palmer is a significant upgrade over the previous pass throwers out in the desert he should be able to find the end zone at least a few times this season. Given Housler's solid reception numbers (45 catches, 417 yards) despite zero touchdowns, Housler has good upside in 2013 and beyond now that he has a legitimate quarterback under center.

| 32 | Tony Gonzalez | ATL | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Tony Gonzalez is back for one more go-around, this time with the hopes of getting to the Super Bowl. He came very close last year, falling just one game shy in a loss to the 49ers, but his performance on the field was nothing short of Pro Bowl caliber. With a 93-930-8 stat line, he finished as one of the top tight ends in the game yet again, and Atlanta was able to convince him to put off retirement for one more year (at least). Gonzalez should remain a pass catching machine and score plenty of touchdowns - just do not expect much from the veteran after the catch.

| 33 | Kellen Davis | CLE | |
| 34 | Heath Miller | PIT | |
| 35 | Gavin Escobar | DAL | show |
[Jun 8th] Jeff Pasquino says: Dallas wants to start to use some of the latest rage in the NFL - two tight end sets. In actuality, they have attempted to do just that before, back when Martellus Bennett was on the roster, but it did not work out. Jason Witten is entrenched as the starter, and the Pro Bowl caliber tight end is going nowhere. Escobar may show flashes of ability and with questions for the Cowboys at wide receiver after Dez Bryant, Escobar could see more targets than expected - but that sounds far too optimistic. I expect him to be stuck behind Witten for several years as he awaits an opportunity to play more.
