Outlook: In Kyle Orton's first season as Tony Romo's backup, he completed 9-of-10 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown. While hardly an awe-inspiring box score, it demonstrates exactly what the Cowboys hoped when they signed the former Bears and Broncos starter. Orton is an experience veteran that could maintain the Cowboys offense at an acceptable level in Tony Romo's absence, but has no delusions at this point in his career of competing for a starting job. In 69 NFL starts, Orton has thrown 81 touchdowns against 57 interceptions. His career average of 6.6 yards per attempt is pedestrian, but Orton has steadily improved his willingness to throw downfield, averaging more than 8 yards per attempt in stints in Kansas City and Dallas.
