Outlook: Ryan Mallett is the only backup right now to Tom Brady and while nobody expects Brady to go down with injury, nobody expected it back in 2008 when Matt Cassel had to step in. Mallett came into the league with a lot of personality questions and a very strong arm. Over the last few years, he's worked on his accuracy and timing as well as his decision-making. It's impossible to know how he'd do if thrown into a tight game to replace Brady, but the fact that the Patriots are currently rolling with no other safety net should speak volumes.
