South Carolina
Draft: round 2
age 23.3, born February 14, 1990
Outlook: Alshon Jeffery came into Chicago and there were high hopes for a new vertical passing game. Instead, Jeffery struggled to stay healthy, was flagged several times for pushing off, and the offense shifted to be all Brandon Marshall. This season, Jeffery will begin as the #2 option for the Bears and assuming he stays healthy, he should easily improve on his pedestrian numbers from last season.
Dynasty outlook:
The Bears are committed to their passing offense, and have regulated Devin Hester back to returning kicks. Earl Bennett is really a #3 guy for them now and Jeffery is their #2 opposite Brandon Marshall. The key will be figuring out what that means for 2013 and beyond. Jay Cutler is in a contract year, and if he finally elevates his game, Jeffery will be one of the main beneficiaries (Marshall can't catch many more passes per game now). If Cutler continues to struggle, and the Bears make a decision to go in another direction, it could be a few years before Jeffery has any legitimate fantasy value. He's talented enough though to take the risk, and he is definitely worth having on your roster - if only for the upside potential.
