NYG - Only two draft picks remain unsigned -
New York Giants OT Justin Pugh, the team's first-round selection, and QB Ryan Nassib, the team's fourth-round selection, are the only two remaining unsigned draft picks.
NYG - Four still rehabbing -
New York Giants C David Baas (undisclosed), OG Chris Snee (hip), CB Terrell Thomas (knee) and LB Jacquian Williams (knee) did not take part in team drills during organized team activities (OTAs) Wednesday, May 22. They are still rehabbing, and participated only in individual drills.
NYG - Spencer Paysinger among starting LBs -
New York Giants LBs Mark Herzlich, Spencer Paysinger and Keith Rivers were the starting linebackers during organized team activities (OTAs) Wednesday, May 22, with LBs Dan Connor, Aaron Curry and Etienne Sabino lining up with the second unit.
NYG - Aaron Curry admits previous lack of motivation -
New York Giants LB Aaron Curry admitted that the money he earned as a high draft pick changed him and he lost his motivation, ultimately leading to his trade from the Seattle Seahawks. 'Early in my career, I was just selfish and self-centered,' Curry said Wednesday, May 22. 'I was more about me than I was the Seahawks at the time. I was more focused on my own desires versus the franchise and the team. It was immaturity, and I'm glad I got past that stage.'
NYG - Justin Tuck not thinking about future -
New York Giants DE Justin Tuck, a free agent at season's end, said Wednesday, May 22, that he wasn't thinking about his future with the team, or how he might fit under the salary cap in 2014. 'Do I think about that?' Tuck asked. 'Why would I? I just go out and do my job. I'm old enough to know better. You can't control it and if you try, it just gets worse.'
NYG - Increased reps for other WRs -
New York Giants WRs Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks were missing at organized team activities Wednesday, May 22, over contract disputes, so QB Eli Manning was working with WRs Jerrel Jernigan, Louis Murphy and Rueben Randle during the session.
Footballguys view: It's good for the young WRs like Jernigan and Randle to get more experience catching passes from Manning. Murphy traveled with Manning to Duke University earlier this year to work out and catch passes.
NYG - Hakeem Nicks unhappy with contract -
New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks did not show up to practice Wednesday, May 22, because he is unhappy with his contract situation, a source indicated. Nicks did not violate any rules, since organized team activities (OTAs) are voluntary, but head coach Tom Coughlin was expecting him.
Footballguys view: Nicks may be in line for a new contract before Victor Cruz. We may see both get new contracts before the start of the regular season.
NYG - Ramses Barden to take physical -
Free-agent WR Ramses Barden (Giants) will be in the New York area Thursday, May 23, and he will take a physical for team doctors of the New York Giants.
Footballguys view: Barden has failed to develop his raw game. He came out of Cal Poly in 2009 and needed to become a better route runner and improve his concentration. Barden still struggles to get open and will drop easy passes. We'll see if the Giants bring him back in 2013.
NYG - Eric Herman signed -
The New York Giants have signed seventh-round draft choice OG Eric Herman. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
NYG - Henry Hynoski injured -
New York Giants FB Henry Hynoski (knee) suffered a knee injury during organized team activities Wednesday, May 22, and was carted off the field. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI in the near future.
NYG - Hakeem Nicks not at workout -
New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) was not present for organized team activities Wednesday, May 22. Head coach Tom Coughlin said he expected Nicks to attend the workout. Coughlin said Nicks likely would have been limited to protect his knee.
NYG - Terrell Thomas willing to move to safety -
New York Giants CB Terrell Thomas said he'd be willing to move to safety and that it would be easy because he played it in high school, for a stint in 2011 and in some formations in 2010.
NYG - Jerrel Jernigan taking advantage of opportunity -
New York Giants WR Jerrel Jernigan has shown progress as Victor Cruz remains absent from OTAs. WR Hakeem Nicks said his teammate has been adjusting well to the slot role, which fits him. 'I feel like he got a lot of reps,' Nicks added. 'He's a little older now, he's a little mature. He got more patient in his routes. ... He's catching the ball a lot better, and he's ready to step up.'
Footballguys view: Jernigan can be a good slot WR because of his speed, quickness and run after the catch ability. He's competing with Rueben Randle to be the team's third WR behind Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz.
NYG - Hakeem Nicks says he's healthy -
New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks said he hasn't experienced problems with the knee that plagued his 2012 season, adding he's feeling 'as good as [he's] felt in awhile.'
Footballguys view: Nicks is one of the best wide receivers in the league when healthy. He's struggled with durability issues throughout his pro career. If he's back to full strength that's nothing but good news for the Giants. Nicks has a current ADP of WR20 and is coming off the board in the middle of round five.
NYG - Slow progress in talks with Victor Cruz -
The New York Giants are making slow progress in contract talks with restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz on a long-term contract. The two sides are expected to resume negotiations this week.
Footballguys view: The team wanted to get something done before OTAs but that doesn't look like it's going to happen. We're not too concerned by this situation unless it lasts until training camp. Even in that scenario we don't see Cruz missing any time in the regular season.
NYG - Looking for Aaron Curry to lose weight -
The New York Giants would like LB Aaron Curry to lose about 10 pounds before the start of season. The team believes Curry can help out at either strongside linebacker of middle linebacker.
NYG - Morgan Newton signs -
The New York Giants signed undrafted free-agent TE Morgan Newton (Kentucky).
NYG - Andre Brown could be poised to start -
New York Giants RB Andre Brown could be poised to start in 2013. 'This is my year,' Brown said. 'I have to go out there and I have to produce. I feel like this is a very important season and I have to go out there and show the world what Andre Brown is made of.'
Footballguys view: Brown has the experience that David Wilson does not have. He's bigger than Wilson and more capable between the tackles and on short yardage situations. Brown has huge durability concerns and lacks the big play ability that Wilson brings to the field. We'll see the two battle for the starting job in training camp.
NYG - Nothing imminent on Charles Woodson -
The New York Giants are not close to signing free-agent CB Charles Woodson (Packers) and no visit has been scheduled. The Giants would need Woodson to be OK with signing a one-year deal for close to the veteran minimum for a deal to be struck.
Footballguys view: The Giants, Raiders, Panthers, and Broncos all have interest in the veteran. If he wants to contend for a championship then the Broncos and Giants become the most attractive teams.
NYG - Dwight Freeney interested -
Free-agent LB Dwight Freeney (Colts) would love a chance to play for the New York Giants, according to his father. The Giants would likely look to sign him to a veteran-minimum deal, and Freeney would seem to fit that former DL Osi Umenyiora occupied. However, the Giants have plenty of other options for the defensive line at this point.
NYG - David Wilson likely will be kick returner -
The New York Giants likely will continue to use RB David Wilson as their kick returner after being unable to sign Oakland Raiders WR Joshua Cribbs. It was believed Wilson would have his return duties reduced because he is expected to be the starting running back.
Footballguys view: We'll see if this holds up for Wilson if he shines as the team's starting RB. The Giants have other options at return man like WR Jerel Jernigan or CB Jayron Hosley.
NYG - Aaron Curry thinks he can be impact linebacker -
New York Giants LB Aaron Curry thinks he can be an impact linebacker on the team's defense. "I really believe I have the ability to be an impact linebacker on this defense," Curry said. "I feel like I can affect each play that I'm in the game. I'm looking forward to just putting it all out there and emptying my tank every day at practice and taking it to the game just to have fun and win some football games."
NYG - Make roster moves -
The New York Giants waived TE Michael Palmer and CB Antonio Dennard Thursday, May 16.
NYG - Interested in Charles Woodson -
The New York Giants are interested in signing free-agent CB Charles Woodson (Packers), according to Woodson's agent, Carl Poston. The Giants would likely sign Woodson to the veteran's minimum if he passes a physical.
Footballguys view: The interest in Woodson is starting to skyrocket in the last week or so. Teams like the Broncos, Raiders, and Panthers also have interest in Woodson. The veteran has position versatility and can play both safety and cornerback.
NYG - Aaron Curry details -
New York Giants LB Aaron Curry's deal is worth $780,000 with a $50,000 roster bonus, $15,000 workout bonus and a $715,000 salary. His cap hit is a $620,000 minimum salary benefit.
NYG - Victor Cruz lowers demands -
New York Giants WR Victor Cruz has lowered his demands to closer to what the team is offering. The team is believed to be offering nearly $8 million a year. There is optimism a deal will get done, but nothing is imminent.
Footballguys view: Cruz wanted WR1 money (around $11MM annually) but now seems to be willing to renegotiate. He's certainly outplayed his first contract as the team found Cruz as an undrafted free agent out of UMass. Something should get done before the start of training camp if not sooner.
NYG - Johnathan Hankins contract details -
New York Giants DT Johnathan Hankins agreed to terms on a contract that will pay $4.03 million and includes a $1.311 million bonus.
Footballguys view: Hankins is a technically sound DT who plays with good functional strength and understands leverage. He diagnoses plays quickly as they unfold in front of him and he's willing to make plays down the line of scrimmage.
NYG - Nothing imminent with Victor Cruz -
There is nothing imminent between the New York Giants and restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz on a contract extension.
Footballguys view: Cruz is not attending Giants OTAs but Eli Manning is hopeful that something will be worked out. "We get into some real practices next week so hopefully as we get into those live going-against-the-defense practices he'll get back in so we can get back to work," Manning said.
NYG - Eli Manning hopes Victor Cruz attends OTA's -
New York Giants QB Eli Manning said he hopes WR Victor Cruz attends organized team activities next week. "We get into some real practices next week so hopefully as we get into those live going-against-the-defense practices he'll get back in so we can get back to work," Manning said.
Footballguys view: Cruz wants a new long-term deal and no progress has been made on that contract just yet. Giants co-owner John Mara recently said he's "pretty confident" the two sides will be able to come to an agreement.

NYG - Justin Pugh getting comfortable with RT -
New York Giants OT Justin Pugh said he has been working on getting comfortable with playing at right tackle after playing left tackle in college. 'The whole thing is protect the inside,' Pugh said. 'Before I was right hand, right foot and now it's just left hand, left foot. So it's just getting used to that and just feeling more comfortable in that stance and it's something that I feel really comfortable with now and just need to keep building on it over the summer.'
NYG - Were interested in Lavelle Hawkins -
The New York Giants were interested in meeting with New England Patriots WR Lavelle Hawkins, but he decided to sign with the Patriots.
Footballguys view: The Giants need to add better depth behind Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. Hawkins is a decent veteran but not a difference maker.
NYG - David Wilson could keep return duties -
New York Giants special teams coordinator Tom Quinn said he believes RB David Wilson can still be a kick returner this season even though he is expected to be the starting running back. 'With his expanded role (in the offense), we'll see where it leads,' Quinn said. 'He said he'd like to do both, but it all depends on the game and his carries and what his role is in the offense.'
Footballguys view: Wilson should be the lead back for the Giants with Andre Brown playing as the change of pace power back. We'd be surprised if Wilson is heavily involved in both the offense and the return game.
NYG - Looking for Jerrel Jernigan to step up -
New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said he believes WR Jerrel Jernigan has the opportunity to step his game up during offseason workouts since he will be the main slot receiver with restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz sitting out the workouts. 'I think it's about time that he steps up. And I think we feel he has enough ability and he's been here now long enough. Until Victor gets back, he'll be the main guy inside at the slot position. It's a chance for him to shine and step forward and do the things that we believe he can do,' Gilbride said.
Footballguys view: Jernigan is dangerous in the open field because of his speed and quickness. He's yet to develop as a pro and 2013 is a make or break season for him.
NYG - GM sees Aaron Curry as low-risk signing -
New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese said he does not see much risk with the signing of LB Aaron Curry and hopes that Curry can reinvent himself with the Giants. 'It's an opportunity for him. If he comes on and he looks like the player that he was when he was the fourth pick in the draft, it's a win-win for everybody. Sometimes a guy can go to a new environment and reinvent himself. We're hoping that's what happens with him,' Reese said. Curry currently weighs 265 pounds, which Reese said is about 10 pounds more than his playing weight.
NYG - Justin Pugh works at RT -
New York Giants OT Justin Pugh worked at right tackle in both practices Friday, May 10.
NYG - Kevin Gilbride talks Victor Cruz -
New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said he has full confidence WR Victor Cruz's contract situation will be resolved and he will return to the team.
Footballguys view: We've been waiting for some movement on the Cruz contract situation. So far lip service is the only thing going around. We'll see if talks start to heat up around OTAs.

NYG - Three draft picks sign -
The New York Giants have signed second-round draft choice DT Johnathan Hankins, third-round draft choice DE Damontre Moore and seventh-round draft choice RB Michael Cox. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Hankins is a technically sound defensive tackle who has good functional strength and understands leverage. Moore will add edge pressure for a team that needs to re-energize their pass rush. In 2012 Moore recorded 28 total pressures (hurries and knockdowns), tied for the second-most in the SEC.
NYG - Cooper Taylor signs -
The New York Giants signed fifth-round pick S Cooper Taylor to a four-year, $2.34 million deal that includes a $187,252 bonus.
NYG - Joshua Cribbs leaves without deal -

NYG - Aaron Curry has not signed -
Updating a previous report, free-agent LB Aaron Curry (Raiders) has not signed a contract with the New York Giants. Curry worked out and took a physical with the team.
Footballguys view: Curry said his workout with the New York Giants went well. "That went well...little rough on the edges but nothing repetition and hard work can't smooth out." is what he posted via Twitter.
NYG - Joshua Cribbs visiting -
The New York Giants are visiting with free-agent WR Joshua Cribbs (Browns) Thursday, May 9.
Footballguys view: Cribbs already has an offer on the table from the Oakland Raiders. Now that he's recovered from offseason knee surgery we'll see him continue to shop his services to find the best fit.
NYG - Next week key in Victor Cruz talks -
The contract talks between Victor Cruz and the New York Giants will reach the most important point in the next week. Both sides are hoping to reach a long term agreement.
NYG - Confident deal will be reached with Victor Cruz -
New York Giants co-owner John Mara believes the team will eventually have a deal in place with restricted free-agent WR Victor Cruz. 'I'm pretty confident that we'll end up reaching a deal with (Cruz),' Mara said. 'This is not that atypical a situation. Player contracts, particularly with star players like Victor, can tend to drag on from time to time. I think we'll get it done.' Cruz has yet to sign his $2.879 million contract tender and reportedly seeks in the neighborhood of $10 million per year. The Giants are reportedly prepared to offer closer to $7 million.
NYG - Aaron Curry to visit -
The New York Giants will host free-agent LB Aaron Curry (Raiders) Thursday, May 8, for a visit.
