NYJ - More on Kevin O'Connell -
Updating a previous report, the New York Jets worked out free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell (Chargers) Tuesday, Oct. 16. 'Kevin's a guy that we feel really good about,' Ryan said. 'You have to be prepared down the road as well.'
NYJ - Not ruling out signing Kevin O'Connell -
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said it is possible that the team will sign free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell (Chargers) but did not say if any deal was close.
Footballguys view: We think the Jets are updating their emergency list here. Their third-string QB Greg McElroy is better than O'Connell in our opinion.
NYJ - Could Tim Tebow be traded? -
One reason the New York Jets may have worked out free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell (Chargers) is because there is a chance the team could trade QB Tim Tebow and make QB Greg McElroy the No. 2 quarterback. Head coach Rex Ryan already is on record as saying the wildcat offense, featuring Tebow, hasn't been as successful as he expected. There also have been rumblings that Tebow is frustrated by his smaller-than-anticipated role. He has played only 50 offensive snaps in six games, making more of an impact as a personal protector on the punt team than on offense. As a result, it has become quite clear that Ryan doesn't know how to use Tebow or never wanted him in the first place.
NYJ - Kevin O'Connell gets workout -
The New York Jets worked out QB Kevin O'Connell (Chargers) Tuesday, Oct. 16. There are no plans for the Jets to sign O'Connell at this point; the Jets are keeping him in mind in case of an emergency.
SD - Kevin O'Connell released -
The San Diego Chargers have released QB Kevin O'Connell.
Footballguys view: O'Connell knew the drill. He was going to be a camp arm while Charlie Whitehurst missed time with a knee injury. Now Whitehurst is back and the team didn't need O'Connell anymore. Jarrett Lee will work as the team's third string QB in camp from here on out.
SD - Jarrett Lee working with second-team -
San Diego Chargers QB Jarrett Lee was operating as the second-team quarterback Tuesday, July 31, with QB Kevin O'Connell serving as the No. 3 QB in his first practice with the team since signing.
SD - Kevin O'Connell agrees to terms -
The San Diego Chargers agreed to terms with free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell (Jets) Sunday, July 29. The agreement is still pending a physical, but he is expected to sign Monday, July 30.
Footballguys view: Unlike Kyle Boller (who quit after one day with the team), O'Connell must know that he's only a camp arm while Charlie Whitehurst is out for a couple of weeks.
SEA - Kevin O'Connell works out -
Free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell (Jets) worked out for the Seattle Seahawks.
Footballguys view: O'Connell is mobile and has a strong arm, but lacks polish as a passer. The Seahawks are looking for someone to compete with Josh Portis for the third-string job behind Matt Flynn and Tarvaris Jackson.
DEN - Could show interest in several free-agent QBs -
The Denver Broncos could show interest in Atlanta Falcons impending free-agent QB Chris Redman, Detroit Lions impending free-agent QB Shaun Hill, Miami Dolphins impending free-agent QB Chad Henne, Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent QB Vince Young, New York Giants impending free-agent QB David Carr, New York Jets impending free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell and Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Josh X. Johnson this offseason.
Footballguys view: The Broncos would like to add a free agent veteran to push Tim Tebow in camp. Tebow will enter training camp as the starter but needs to show improvement as a passer if he wants to hold onto the job.
NYJ - Will look at available backup QBs -
New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said the team will look at the available backup quarterbacks when free agency begins to see if they are interested in any of the quarterbacks. Tannenbaum said QB Greg McElroy and Kevin O'Connell will also be under consideration for the No. 2 quarterback job.
Footballguys view: McElroy is an interesting prospect to keep an eye on in dynasty leagues. He's got a little Matt Flynn to his game and is a smart QB who plays better under pressure.

The New York Jets have declared RB Bilal Powell, C Colin Baxter, DL Garrett McIntyre, TE Josh Baker, DL Kenrick Ellis, QB Kevin O'Connell, WR Logan Payne inactive for Week 5.

NYJ - Week 1 Inactives -
The New York Jets have declared SS Andrew Sendejo, RB Bilal Powell, OG Caleb Schlauderaff, DL Kenrick Ellis, QB Kevin O'Connell, WR Logan Payne, OL Robert Turner inactive for Week 1.
NYJ - Kevin O'Connell claimed -
The New York Jets have claimed free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell (Dolphins) off waivers.
Footballguys view: With the season ending injury to rookie Greg McElroy the team needed to add another QB. O'Connell knows the system from his time with the Jets earlier in his career, and it won't take him long to get back up to speed.
NYJ - May show interest in Kevin O'Connell -
The New York Jets are looking to add a No. 3 quarterback and may show interest in free-agent QB Kevin O'Connell (Dolphins) because he is familiar with their offensive system.
Footballguys view: The Jets are looking for better QB depth behind Mark Sanchez now that rookie Greg McElroy is done for the year. O'Connell has been with the team before and it wouldn't take much time for him to get back in the swing of things.

Footballguys view: This leaves Kellen Clemens as the Jets third-string quarterback behind Mark Sanchez and Mark Brunell.
NYJ - Kevin O'Connell will go to camp -
New York Jets QB Kevin O'Connell has been told that he will be given the opportunity to compete for a roster spot during training camp, a source told Manish Mehta, of the New York Daily News. There was speculation that the team would release O'Connell after the signing of QB Mark Brunell.
Footballguys view: Both O'Connell and Erik Ainge could be on the roster bubble after the signing of veteran Mark Brunell. It will be unusual if the Jets carry more than three quarterbacks.
NYJ - Kevin O'Connell, Erik Ainge competing for No. 3 QB job -
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said there is an open competition between QB Kevin O'Connell and QB Erik Ainge for the team's No. 3 quarterback job, reports Manish Mehta, of the New York Daily News.
Footballguys view: Both O'Connell and Ainge are big quarterbacks who can see the field well because of their size. O'Connell has more athleticism and can make plays with his feet when the play breaks down. Ainge may have higher upside, but has never played up to his potential. Both are competing for a spot behind Mark Sanchez and Kellen Clemens.
NYJ - O'Connell working ahead of Ainge in practice -
Jenny Vrentas, from the Newark Star-Ledger, reports via Twitter that Kevin O'Connell was working ahead of Erik Ainge in practice last week.
Footballguys view: Both backup quarterbacks are developmental prospects battling for the third-string quarterback spot in New York. The Jets are unlikely to carry four quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, but could try to sneak one of these guys through to the practice squad after training camp.
