The St. Louis Rams have released DT Cornell Banks, QB Tom Brandstater, DE Mason Brodine, LB Aaron Brown, LB Sammy Brown, CB Kendric Burney, TE Cory Harkey, C T-Bob Hebert, DE Jamaar Jarrett, WR Nick X. Johnson, OT Joe Long, OG Bryan Mattison, TE DeAngelo Peterson, RB Chase Reynolds, DE Scott Smith, OT Jose Valdez and QB Kellen Clemens.
STL - Two battling for roster spot -
If St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher elects to keep three quarterbacks, there will be a battle between undrafted rookie QB Austin Davis and veteran QB Tom Brandstater for the job.
Footballguys view: Brandstater has bounced around the league and may be at the end of his pro career. Davis could be put on the team's practice squad if the team likes what they see in training camp.
STL - Two players signed -
The St. Louis Rams have re-signed free-agent QB Tom Brandstater and have signed free-agent LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar (Saints). Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
STL - Week 14 Inactives -

STL - Kellen Clemens splits first-team reps -
St. Louis Rams QB Kellen Clemens split first-team reps with QB Tom Brandstater in practice Friday, Dec. 9. QBs Sam Bradford (ankle) and A.J. Feeley (thumb) each missed practiced again.
STL - Tom Brandstater might start in Week 14 -
St. Louis Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo indicated Monday, Dec. 5, that QB Tom Brandstater might be thrust into the starting lineup in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks with QB A.J. Feeley (thumb) dealing with a thumb fracture. Feeley replaced QB Sam Bradford (ankle), who was inactive in Week 13 with ongoing ankle issues.
Footballguys view: The Seahawks defense will be a must start in fantasy leagues if this comes to pass.
STL - Ben Leber waived -
The St. Louis Rams have waived LB Ben Leber. In a corresponding move, the team signed practice squad QB Tom Brandstater to their active roster.
Footballguys view: The Rams' starter Sam Bradford has been nursing a high ankle sprain and may not be able to play on Sunday against the 49ers. Veteran A.J. Feeley has taken most of the first-team reps this week in practice and may start.
STL - Tom Brandstater signs -
The St. Louis Rams re-signed QB Tom Brandstater to the practice squad Friday, Dec. 2.
STL - Tom Brandstater released -
The St. Louis Rams have released QB Tom Brandstater.
STL - Tom Brandstater added to roster -
The St. Louis Rams have signed practice squad QB Tom Brandstater to their active roster.
STL - Tom Brandstater might be promoted -
The St. Louis Rams have until 3pm Saturday, Oct. 22, if they want to promote QB Tom Brandstater from the practice squad, if they want another healthy QB on the roster. Starting QB Sam Bradford (ankle) is questionable for the Week 7 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: If Bradford isn't healthy enough to start, then he probably shouldn't be out there if AJ Feeley goes down. No promotion of Brandstater would either mean that Bradford is going to go or that the Rams are willing to take risks with Bradford's health.
STL - Make roster moves -
The St. Louis Rams signed free-agent QB Tom Brandstater (Cowboys) and C Tim Barnes (Ravens) to their practice squad Tuesday, Sept. 13. Footballguys view: Fourth and Long winner Jesse Holley makes the final roster.
DAL - Tom Brandstater claimed -
The Dallas Cowboys have claimed free-agent QB Tom Brandstater (Dolphins) and WR Dominique Edison (Seahawks) off waivers.
Footballguys view: Brandstater is a camp arm, and will be hard pressed to find a spot on the final roster. Edison has a good size/speed combination but needs to develop as a route runner.
MIA - Tom Brandstater waived -
The Miami Dolphins have waived QB Tom Brandstater.
MIA - QB Brandstater nothing more than a PS option -
Omar Kelly, from the South Florida Sun Sentinel, reports via Twitter that QB Tom Brandstater has good arm strength but is nothing more than a developmental practice squad player.
Footballguys view: Brandstater began his career in Denver but failed to prove much when given snaps. He's big, has a strong arm, but struggles to make his reads quickly and often holds onto the ball too long. He could stick around on the PS in Miami, but we feel he has low upside.
MIA - Two signed to future contracts -
The Miami Dolphins have signed QB Tom Brandstater and OT James Marten to future contracts, sources told Mike Berardino, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins quarterback position is in a state of transition. There's a chance the team could get rid of Chad Henne in the offseason, so they will continue to give Brandstater a look as a developmental quarterback.
DEN - Kenny McKinley had gambling debts -
Former Denver Broncos WR Kenny McKinley reportedly had a gambling problem and was deep in debt before committing suicide Sept. 21, according to The Associated Press' Arnie Stapleton and P. Solomon Banda. McKinley apparently purchased the gun that he used to kill himself from WR Jabar Gaffney months earlier. Former backup QB Tom Brandstater said that he lent McKinley $65,000 and that McKinley owed $40,000 in casino markers in Las Vegas.
MIA - Tom Brandstater added to practice squad -
The Miami Dolphins have signed free-agent QB Tom Brandstater (Colts) to their practice squad, reports Omar Kelly, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Footballguys view: Brandstater has bounced around between Denver and Indianapolis during his short time in the league, and is nothing more than a developmental quarterback at this point. He's tall, has a strong arm, and enough athleticism to buy time in the pocket. He needs to become more accurate downfield, and also do a better job of exhausting all of his reads.
MIA - Will try out Tom Brandstater -
The Miami Dolphins will work out free-agent QB Tom Brandstater (Colts), reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
IND - Tom Brandstater released -
The Indianapolis Colts have released QB Tom Brandstater from their practice squad.
Footballguys view: Brandstater has bounced on and off Indy's roster since getting released by the Broncos earlier this year. We'll see if another team decides to bring him on board as a developmental guy.
IND - Five added to practice squad -
The Indianapolis Colts have signed QB Tom Brandstater, DE John Chick, WR Brandon James, DB Mike Newton and WR Blair White to their practice squad.
Footballguys view: Brandstater didn't look terrible this preseason and the Colts decided to give him a look as a developmental quarterback. Blair White is the type of player who could work hard for a year or two on the practice squad only to become a household name in a couple of years.
IND - Tom Brandstater released -
The Indianapolis Colts have released QB Tom Brandstater, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
IND - Brandstater and Painter to compete for backup job -
CBSSports.com reports Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Friday the team remains confident in backup QB Curtis Painter. "He's becoming a bit more accurate," Caldwell said. "It's not a real easy offense to grasp and to manage. I think he's improving day after day." But Caldwell also expressed confidence in newly-acquired QB Tom Brandstater, who signed with the Colts after he was released by the Broncos. "He looks like has some potential, so we're excited to have a chance to take a real good look at him in the fall," Caldwell said.
Footballguys view: Painter looked bad last year when he finally made it onto the field at the end of the season. Brandstater was the third-string quarterback for the Broncos last year, but could be a better option for the team. Painter has good field vision, but feels the pressure too soon and will often force the ball. Brandstater is a big, strong quarterback who can pick up yards with his feet when the play breaks down.
IND - Tom Brandstater claimed -
The Indianapolis Colts have claimed free-agent QB Tom Brandstater (Broncos) off waivers, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Footballguys view: Brandstater will now compete against Curtis Painter and Drew Willy to be the backup behind Peyton Manning. He's a big quarterback, with a strong arm and enough mobility to buy himself extra time to throw. Brandstater was let go by Denver because he wasn't going to get much practice time behind Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn, and Tim Tebow.
DEN - Tom Brandstater released -
The Denver Broncos have released QB Tom Brandstater, sources told Josina Anderson, of FOX 31 in Denver.
Footballguys view: Josh McDaniels first QB draft pick barely lasted year in Denver. We can't wait to see what happens to his second QB draft pick.
DEN - Orton signs his RFA tender -
Cecil Lammey, NFL Insider for Lincoln Financial Media, reports Broncos QB Kyle Orton signed his RFA tender today.
Footballguys view: This makes three quarterbacks (Orton, Brady Quinn, Tom Brandstater) are under contract for the Broncos. He'll be an unrestricted free agent next year, but will begin this season as the starter in Denver. Orton will have to hold off Brady Quinn, who could flourish in the McDaniels system. If Orton struggles early it wouldn't surprise us to see Quinn inserted as the starting quarterback.
DEN - McDaniels likes Brandstater's progress -
Bill Williamson, of ESPN.com, reports Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels said he likes QB Tom Brandstater's progress and that the team has high hopes for him in the future.
Footballguys view: Brandstater is going to take some time to develop, and the Broncos are hopeful he could turn into another Matt Cassel type of QB.
DEN - Week 17 Inactives -
The Denver Broncos have declared WR Brandon Marshall, P Britton Colquitt, DL Chris Baker, WR Eddie Royal, RB LaMont Jordan, QB Tom Brandstater, CB Tony Carter, TE Tony Scheffler inactive for Week 17.

DEN - Week 3 Inactives -
The Denver Broncos have declared WR Brandon Lloyd, OT Brandon Gorin, DL Chris Baker, DL Jarvis Moss, WR Kenny McKinley, OG Seth Olsen, LB Spencer Larsen, QB Tom Brandstater inactive for Week 3.
Footballguys view: Both Knowshon Moreno and Brandon Stokely are active today. Expect Brandon Marshall to get more time today with Stokely unlikely to take all the slot snaps. Moreno, who had gotten the bulk of the snaps last week, should see a more even rotation with Correll Buckhalter.
DEN - Week 2 Inactives -
The Denver Broncos have declared WR Brandon Lloyd, OT Brandon Gorin, DL Chris Baker, WR Kenny McKinley, DL Le Kevin Smith, OG Seth Olsen, LB Spencer Larsen, QB Tom Brandstater inactive for Week 2.

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos QB Tom Brandstater led the team to four scoring drives on his first five possessions Thursday, Sept. 3. He finished the game 16-for-30 for 187 yards with an interception.
Footballguys view: Brandstater looked like he wouldn't be complete roadkill if he has to start week 1 against the Bengals, but this was week four of the preseason, so we wouldn't get too excited.
DEN - Brandstater to start Thursday -
Updating a previous report, The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos QB Tom Brandstater will start the team's final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 3.
Footballguys view: This should be a terrific chance to watch Brandstater's raw ability and progress learning the McDaniels system in action.
DEN - Brandstater could start preseason finale -
The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos QB Tom Brandstater could start the team's preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 3, depending on the severity of the injury to QB Kyle Orton (finger).

DEN - Quarterback picked in round six -
The Denver Broncos, who were speculated to have interest in a quarterback entering the NFL Draft, waited until the sixth-round before fulfilling that need. After acquiring pick No. 174 overall from the Detroit Lions, the Broncos selected Fresno State QB Tom Brandstater.
