DEN - Two DTs may test free agency -
Denver Broncos impending free-agent DTs Justin Bannan and Kevin Vickerson could test the free-agent market to see what kind of deal they can get from other teams. The Broncos are interested in re-signing both players but likely only to short-term deals.
Footballguys view: Both signed for near veteran minimum deals last offseason and may not be willing to do that again. The Broncos have a huge need on the Defensive Line and that's where their focus is going to be this offseason. Many feel Denver is going to take a DT in the first-round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
DEN - Two want to return -
Denver Broncos S Jim Leonhard and DL Justin Bannan, both impending free agents, want to re-sign with the team in the offseason.
Footballguys view: Leonhard and Bannan could be brought back for a good price. We think it makes sense for the Broncos to keep both veterans around in 2013.

DEN - Justin Bannan aggravates injury -
Denver Broncos DL Justin Bannan (calf) aggravated his calf muscle while running conditioning sprints Thursday, Aug. 2. As a result, he was unable to participate in practice Friday, Aug. 3. Bannan is also unlikely to take part in a scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 4, but he is hopeful of being ready for the preseason opener Aug. 9 against the Chicago Bears.
DEN - Justin Bannan works with starters -
Denver Broncos DT Justin Bannan worked with the first-team defensive during organized team activities last week.
Footballguys view: Bannan comes back to the Broncos after playing for the Rams last year. He should be starting for them in week 1 as primarily a run stuffing DT. Bannan may come off the field on passing downs.
DEN - Will wait and see with DT Warren -
Jeff Legwold, from the Denver Post, reports the Broncos will take a wait and see approach with veteran DT Ty Warren. The team recently asked him to take a pay cut, but Warren refused.
Footballguys view: When workouts become mandatory then the team will decide the fate of Warren. Right now he's not been participating at OTAs, but they are considered voluntary. The team needs a run stuffer like Warren in the middle of the D-Line, but he hasn't played in a regular season game since 2009 due to injuries.
DEN - DT Vickerson heavier, looking to start -
Lindsay Jones, from the Denver Post, reports Broncos DT Kevin Vickerson checked in at OTAs weighing 324 lbs, and increase of almost 50 lbs from last year. "Coming off an injury, you could get out of shape with a bad body," Vickerson said. "A lot of guys, especially D-tackles, would come back way over-heavy, sloppy, bad weight. I've had that before, and I didn't want that again."
Footballguys view: The Broncos have pass rushing DTs like rookie Derek Wolfe on the roster, but they need run stuffers at the position too. Vickerson may help anchor against the run more than some think if veteran Ty Warren is cut because he refuses to cut his salary. Justin Bannan should be the other starting DT in Jack Del Rio's defense.
DEN - Justin Bannan a better fit in 4-3 -
Denver Broncos DL Justin Bannan will move inside in the team's 4-3 scheme. Bannan saw time at defensive end during his first tenure with the team. 'To be honest, I'm more comfortable in a 4-3 than I am in a 3-4,' Bannan said. 'Playing a 4-3 and a more attacking style of defense - that's going to be more up my alley.'
Footballguys view: Bannan's a quality defender who will work as a rotational player for the Broncos.
DEN - Justin Bannan contract update -
Updating a previous item, Denver Broncos DL Justin Bannan signed a one-year deal with the team. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
DEN - Justin Bannan signed -
The Denver Broncos have signed free-agent DT Justin Bannan (Rams). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Bannan played for the Broncos before during the McDaniels regime. He'll give them another veteran presence in the middle of the D-Line. At this point in his career Bannan is nothing more than a rotational player who will need his snaps limited.

STL - Justin Bannan on radar -
The St. Louis Rams are talking with free-agent DT Justin Bannan (Broncos).
DEN - Would like to re-sign two DLs -
The Denver Broncos are hoping that they will be able to re-sign free-agent DLs Jamal Williams and Justin Bannan once the lockout is over. The team released both players before the lockout started.
Footballguys view: Williams price just went up with the Kris Jenkins retirement news, and Bannan is an underrated player who could find a nice market for his services with the number of teams in the market for 3-4 ends. If the team makes a run at DeAngelo Williams, signing both defensive linemen might be difficult.
DEN - Could look to re-sign two cut DTs -
The Denver Broncos could be interested in re-signing free-agent DTs Jamal Williams and Justin Bannan once the free agency period begins. The Broncos released both players prior to the start of the lockout.
Footballguys view: We've heard that Williams wants to come back to Denver. He's not the same player he used to be, but can plug up the middle and should work well in a rotation. Bannan may not decide to come back, and could find a 3-4 team that would fit his skill set better.
NYJ - Could show interest in Justin Bannan -
The New York Jets could be interested in free-agent DL Justin Bannan (Broncos) this offseason because of his prior experience with head coach Rex Ryan, reports Edward Lee, of The Baltimore Sun.
Footballguys view: Bannan has experience in a Rex Ryan defense from their time together in Baltimore. The Jets need to upgrade the depth on their defensive line, and Bannan could certainly be an option for them.
BAL - Justin Bannan would like to sign -
Free-agent DL Justin Bannan (Broncos) said he would love to sign with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason, reports Edward Lee, of The Baltimore Sun.

DEN - Two released -
The Denver Broncos released DLs Jamal Williams and Justin Bannan Thursday, March 3, according to The Denver Post's Mike Klis.
Footballguys view: Williams getting released isn't a surprise because he's a NT in a 3-4 defense and Denver is switching back to a 4-3 under new head coach John Fox. Releasing Bannan does surprise. He wasn't making that much money, and could work inside as a DT in the 4-3 defense. There's a chance the Broncos could bring Bannan back at a reduced rate, but he's likely moving on.
DEN - Justin Bannan likely to move to DT -
The Denver Broncos likely will use DL Justin Bannan at defensive tackle in their new 4-3 defensive alignment next season, reports Mike Klis, of The Denver Post. Bannan played defensive end in the team's 3-4 defensive alignment this season.
Footballguys view: Bannan will shift to Defensive Tackle while guys like Robert Ayers and Elvis Dumervil move from Outside Linebackers to Defensive Ends. John Fox is switching the Broncos to a 4-3 defense and should address the defensive line with the number two overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
DEN - Players defending Josh McDaniels -
Despite suffering an embarrassing Week 7 loss and feeling the wrath of the city, Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels continues to have the respect of his players, according to Mike Klis, of The Denver Post. 'I'm not sugarcoating this. I'm going to be as honest as can be and tell it to you straight. It's not Josh,' LB Mario Haggan said. 'I've never been more prepared as a player from a head coach. And I've been through five or six already.' There is also no concern of McDaniels losing the locker room. 'That's ridiculous,' DL Justin Bannan said. 'Josh hasn't lost this team. Nobody quit. When it's 21-0 and there's only five minutes gone on the clock? You're like, 'Oh, boy.' It's not even an uphill battle at that point. It's a fight for survival.'
Footballguys view: McDaniels certainly seems like he's on the hot seat after a humiliating loss against the Raiders on Sunday. We'll see if the team can rally around their young head coach and get a win over the 49ers in London.
