Titans | Bishop Sankey in great shape, focusing mentally Thu Jul 10, 05:37 PM
Tennessee Titans rookie RB Bishop Sankey recently said he's in great shape and is reviewing plays every day with running backs coach Sylvester Croom. Sankey believes he can have a big impact once he gets plays down and used to his teammates
|Footballguys view: All he really has in front of him is Shonn Greene so he should have the starting job locked up by.....what time is it? Whatever, he'll win it soon. When that happens we could see him emerge as a RB2, though some of the staff has reservations about his ability to handle the workload. For now, think RB3 with a lot of upside, but make sure to read our training camp coverage (SHAMELESS PLUG) to know how he looks and whether you need to move him up in your rankings.|

Packers | Looking for Brandon Bostick to be consistent Thu Jul 10, 05:35 PM
Green Bay Packers TE Brandon Bostick can make an impact on offense but needs to be a more consistent player, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. 'Brandon's got to be a consistent player on offense,' McCarthy said. 'His body type is definitely a challenge for the opponent with some of the things he's able to do, particularly his ability to get down the field in coverage. So I think he definitely took a step last year and I'd like to see him do the same. He's a talented, talented football player.'
|Footballguys view: Brandon Bostick is a former basketball player with some upside who is going to have to work to get back into shape as he is recovering from a broken foot. Very raw, his size and athleticism is intriguing if he can hone his game. Right now none of the tight ends in Green Bay are really fantasy relevant but they might be depending on the offense and who wins the job.|

Packers | Andrew Quarless' injury not serious Thu Jul 10, 05:34 PM
The injury that caused Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless (undisclosed) to miss the offseason workouts is not considered serious.
|Footballguys view: There is a wide open race for starting tight end, and Quarless' athleticism is attractive. So far he hasn't practiced and rookie Richard Rodgers has been taking reps with the ones and that's who Quarless has to beat out right now. Brandon Bostick is also in the mix. None of them look like they will be fantasy starters though.|

Texans | Four teams interested in Andre Johnson Thu Jul 10, 05:13 PM
Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is wanted via trade by at least four teams, according to a source. The names of the four teams were undisclosed.
|Footballguys view: At least. The contract and demands from Houston might have paired the teams down to four serious and willing teams but you have to imagine there are more out there who could get involved. He'd be an interesting fit in several teams and Cleveland has been a hot rumor since Josh Gordon got into his latest batch of trouble. Maybe he'll join the Cavs if LeBron goes back home.|

Packers | Want to give GM an extension Thu Jul 10, 05:05 PM
Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy said the team considers signing general manager Ted Thompson to a contract extension as one of their top priorities. Murphy said Thompson has told the team he has no plans to retire in the foreseeable future.
|Footballguys view: It's hard to imagine the Packers without Ted Thompson. "In Ted we Trust" is a mantra that the fans say though he does test their patience at times. It's a shrewd move to lock him down if they can do it.|
Chiefs | Tamba Hali working extra, staying motivated Thu Jul 10, 05:01 PM
Kansas City Chiefs LB Tamba Hali said he's been working two extra hours per day in order to 'stay on top of things and not slack.' He added that he still has a lot to accomplish in his career and that's what keeps him going during the offseason.
|Footballguys view: Weight has been an issue for Hali (and he showed up to OTAs overweight again) and maybe selecting Dee Ford was the shot across the bow Hali needed. Of course, he needs to perform on the field so we'll see how things sit when the pads come on.|

Titans | Shaun Phillips out to prove himself Thu Jul 10, 04:46 PM
Tennessee Titans LB Shaun Phillips still feels the need to earn respect at 33 years old. Phillips recently said 'there may be some guys who have never heard of me and may not give me the respect I deserve.' Phillips added that in order to gain that respect, he needs to make them notice his play. Phillips signed a two-year deal with the Titans this offseason.
|Footballguys view: Having a chip on your shoulder is the way a veteran stays on the field. Expect him to put some good games together and he could approach the 10 sacks he had last year (19 in the last two seasons total).|

Vikings | Corey Wootton expected to in rotation Thu Jul 10, 04:34 PM
Minnesota Vikings DE Corey Wootton is expected to be part of a rotation at defensive end this upcoming season.
|Footballguys view: Expect a lot of things like this with new head coach Mike Zimmer who has always found ways to get the most out of his players. The team is looking for interior help since they let Kevin Williams walk, so expect Wootton to get plenty of reps.|

Packers | Derek Sherrod stayed at one position Thu Jul 10, 04:34 PM
Green Bay Packers OT Derek Sherrod only worked at right tackle during offseason workouts, because the team wanted him to concentrate on one position since he is coming back from a broken leg.
|Footballguys view: We'll believe Sherrod is in the lineup when we see it. He had injury issues for two years and then couldn't crack the lineup regularly last season. The Packers won't give up on him because they know they need depth (nobody sees more o-line injuries than the Packers) but he has a long way to go to make anyone feel confident.|
Texans | Duane Brown ready for camp Thu Jul 10, 04:30 PM
Houston Texans OT Duane Brown recently said he's been working out, reviewing playbooks and getting his mind right until training camp begins.
|Footballguys view: He'll have to hit the ground running as the line has to be on point with the question marks at quarterback. He'll have to prove he can open lanes for Arian Foster as well as defend pass-rushers and keep Ryan Fitzpatrick (or whoever) on his feet.|
Redskins | Ross Madison a long shot Thu Jul 10, 04:21 PM
Washington Redskins S Ross Madison is considered a long shot to make the final roster at this point.
|Footballguys view: Even with Tanard Jackson out, which is a bad sign. Madison, if cut, might see a little interest as a camp body.|
NFL | Four draft picks still unsigned Thu Jul 10, 04:15 PM
Cleveland Browns first-round draft choice CB Justin Gilbert, Tennessee Titans first-round draft choice OT Taylor Lewan, Jacksonville Jaguars second-round draft choice WR Marqise Lee and Miami Dolphins third-round draft choice OT Billy Turner are the only draft picks unsigned at this point.
|Footballguys view: It's getting a little late but it happens every year--even with the slotted deals for rookies we have now. We expect to see these deals get done early in camp if not before. Gilbert and Lee are the fantasy players to watch and the longer they are out, the less they are likely to contribute early in the season. As it stands, Lee is no more than a WR6 and Gilbert is a deep bench stash in redraft, though a great bet in long-term dynasty leagues as he will see a lot of targets with Joe Haden across from him.|
Marqise Lee player page
Redskins | Bacarri Rambo will need to help on special teams Thu Jul 10, 04:14 PM
Washington Redskins FS Bacarri Rambo will need to contribute on special teams if he wants to make the final roster. His chances of making the team will be helped by FS Tanard Jackson's suspension.
|Footballguys view: Rambo was a bit disappointing last season, so expecting him to add something to special teams makes sense--the team needs production from him somehow while he develops into what they hope will be a starter.|
Ravens | C.J. Mosley working hard, progressing Thu Jul 10, 04:13 PM
Baltimore Ravens rookie LB C.J. Mosley recently said he's learning the defense day by day. Specifically, he said he's been studying the playbook and getting to know the little things that will benefit him even more. He added the main difference between college and the NFL is learning a new language and a new system. Mosely is competing for a starting spot at inside linebacker
|Footballguys view: Mosley was a great pick for the Ravens and showed off his trademark athleticism in OTAs. He'll probably displace Arthur Brown initially though we may see a bit of a rotation since the other inside position is taken by Daryl Smith.|

Lions | Calvin Johnson has high hopes for team Thu Jul 10, 03:52 PM
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson thinks the team is in a place where they can win the Super Bowl in 2014. "We need to win a Super Bowl," Johnson said. "That's the No. 1 thing. That's the No. 1 thing (and) should be for every team going into the beginning of the year.'
|Footballguys view: This is about as loaded a team as the Lions have had in a long time. At least offensively. Defensively there are some questions about the secondary and special teams has long been an issue. No matter what happens with this team, we know one thing for sure--Megatron is a surefire WR1 and as a staff we feel he is worthy of a top-five pick overall.|

Bengals | A.J. Green wants Andy Dalton to stay Thu Jul 10, 02:55 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green said he wants QB Andy Dalton to remain with the team for years to come. 'We came in together and that is the great thing for me and him,' Green said. 'I know he's my guy. I don't want any other quarterback throwing me the ball. I think he feels the same way about me.' Green said he has built a good chemistry with Dalton over the last several seasons.
|Footballguys view: Well, if Dalton keeps imploding in playoff games, Green might feel differently down the road. As it stands now, Green knows Dalton will get him the ball and trusts him. Of course, the unknown is a bit scary so why change it? As it stands together they're pretty potent. Dalton is a low-end QB2 but Green is a top-5 WR1. As that's the case, we're fine with keeping things the same as well.|

Ravens | Josh Bynes hopes to contribute Thu Jul 10, 02:53 PM
Baltimore Ravens LB Josh Bynes said he hopes to be able to start at inside linebacker this upcoming season but wants to be part of a rotation if does not start. 'I'm definitely a guy that can be a starter. Even if I'm not a starter, [I want to be] someone that can rotate and a guy that can contribute on this team as much as I know I can. And the coaches know that I can as well. I want to continue to prove that there's a reason why I'm here and there's a reason why I've been here four years,' Bynes said.
|Footballguys view: The Ravens need depth as well as starters and Bynes will provide some help on running downs.|

Dolphins | Dion Jordan will not appeal suspension Thu Jul 10, 02:45 PM
Miami Dolphins DE Dion Jordan does not plan to appeal his four-game suspension and has accepted the punishment.
|Footballguys view: Already rumored to have been on the trading block, Jordan just wants to do his time and get back on the field. He needs to hope there is still a spot for him though, as the team will be well into the season by the time he returns and he was unimpressive last season.|
Dion Jordan player page
Dolphins | Billy Turner appears to be backup LT Thu Jul 10, 02:35 PM
Miami Dolphins OG Billy Turner probably would take over at left tackle if OT Branden Albert suffered an injury during training camp or the preseason.
|Footballguys view: The Miami depth was tested last year with all the chaos and it passed but you can never have too much. They need Ryan Tannehill to take a step forward and in order to do that he needs to have time to throw. A lot of the sacks he took last year were on him though, so hopefully the clock in his head speeds up as well.|
Redskins | Unlikely to bring in safety Thu Jul 10, 02:30 PM
The Washington Redskins are unlikely to bring in another safety to replace FS Tanard Jackson, according to a league source.
|Footballguys view: Jackson is running out of chances but it sounds like Washington isn't worried about his absence short term. During camp, we may see them add someone depending on how the safeties look in padded practices. For now though it looks like things will stay as they stand.|
Tanard Jackson player page
Bills | Mike Caussin facing uphill battle Thu Jul 10, 02:23 PM
Buffalo Bills TE Mike Caussin likely will need to outperform one or two of the other tight ends to have a chance to make the final roster.
|Footballguys view: In that unlikely event he's not worth anything in redraft leagues anyway barring several injuries. He's missed the last two years due to injuries.|
Mike Caussin player page
Panthers | Cam Newton will work with wide receivers Thu Jul 10, 02:22 PM
Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton will work with his wide receivers before training camp gets underway to try to get on the same page after missing time due to an ankle issue. 'It's been more difficult because Cam's coming off an ankle injury and he had to get surgery, so we couldn't throw with him as much as we would like,' Panthers receiver Tiquan Underwood said.
|Footballguys view: The more he can get together with these guys the better. He was working with rookie Kelvin Benjamin already, so bringing in the other guys is even better. Newton is an easy QB1 for any format, though the lack of receivers makes it tough to see him as challenging the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning.|

Bills | Chris Gragg to be on bubble Thu Jul 10, 02:17 PM
Buffalo Bills TE Chris Gragg likely will enter training camp on the roster bubble and will need to perform well during training camp to convince the team to keep four tight ends.
|Footballguys view: There is almost no chance of it happening, but if he has a good camp he could end up as one of three tight ends. He'll need to show he can block or contribute on special team. No matter how it shakes out, he has no fantasy value.|
Chris Gragg player page
Bills | Lee Smith has good chance to make team Thu Jul 10, 02:15 PM
Buffalo Bills TE Lee Smith appears to have a good chance to make the final roster because he is a blocking tight end, and the team is expected to be a run-heavy team.
|Footballguys view: The team needs more blockers to help EJ Manuel, Fred Jackson and CJ Spiller and Smith's blocking prowess is what the Doctor ordered. He has no fantasy value other than the fact that he can help block for real fantasy studs.|
Lee Smith player page
Bills | Tony Moeaki not guaranteed spot Thu Jul 10, 02:08 PM
Buffalo Bills TE Tony Moeaki is not guaranteed a roster spot entering training camp but should have a good chance to win a spot during camp. He made some good plays during offseason workouts.
|Footballguys view: Moeaki has been mediocre for the most part and isn't set to take any snaps away from Scott Chandler anyway. He's not worth a roster spot in any fantasy league.|

Redskins | Robert Griffin III praises Alfred Morris Thu Jul 10, 02:07 PM
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III thinks RB Alfred Morris is the biggest weapon on the team's offense. "I think everyone would lean towards DeSean or Pierre or Jordan Reed," Griffin III said when asked who the biggest weapon in the Redskins' offense is. "I think it's Alfred. With him, defenses have to make a decision whether to puts guys in the box to stop him or leave the box light and allow Alfred to go between the tackles and lure in the safeties. I think it will be interesting to see what defenses do against him."
|Footballguys view: As we have said previously, Morris should hold enough value in this offense to keep him as a RB2 with high upside. He makes RG3's life easier by keeping defenses honest and is a threat for a big play at any time. Griffin is smart to keep him happy with a little extra praise.|

Redskins | Alfred Morris still has a lot to accomplish Thu Jul 10, 02:07 PM
Washington Redskins RB Alfred Morris still feels like he has a lot to accomplish. "It's been a whirlwind, really," Morris explained of his first two seasons. "It's been a blur almost, but it's definitely been fun and a roller coaster ride."
|Footballguys view: New head coach Jay Gruden likes to throw the ball a ton, but he has had backs run the ball a lot as well (Benjarvus Green-Ellis for one) so Morris won't completely fall off the map. He'll lose enough touches to keep him from surefire RB1 status and we have him ranked accordingly--a high end RB2 with a ton of upside.|

Texans | Brian Cushing working out Thu Jul 10, 02:02 PM
Updating a previous report, Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing (knee) said he has been working out and believes he will be ready for the start of the regular season. He has not put a specific timetable for when he will be able to start practicing.
|Footballguys view: Good news for Houston fans--this defense could be completely stacked with JJ Watt and rookie Jadeveon Clowney as well as Cushing. It had better be because we aren't sure the offense has the juice (especially under center) to carry the team to wins.|

Ravens | Pernell McPhee has high expectations Thu Jul 10, 02:02 PM
Baltimore Ravens LB Pernell McPhee said his goal is to lead the team in sacks this upcoming season. McPhee recorded 6 sacks in 2011 but only 3.5 sacks in the last two seasons. He only played 313 snaps last season and never received more than 50 percent of the snaps in any of the games.
|Footballguys view: The team is moving him outside, so this goal might not be as nuts as it sounds. He won't start and probably won't see a huge uptick in snaps, but positional versatility is a critical thing for a defender's resume.|
Pernell McPhee player page
Ravens | Courtney Upshaw working on coverage Thu Jul 10, 01:56 PM
Baltimore Ravens LB Courtney Upshaw has been working on improving his pass coverage skills this offseason.
|Footballguys view: Upshaw showed up to minicamp overweight this year again so the impetus to improve his game could be an attempt to save his job. We're sure he'd like to see the field more frequently in general as well.|

Buccaneers | Austin Seferian-Jenkins expects to be ready for camp Thu Jul 10, 01:45 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (foot) said he expects to be ready for training camp. 'I feel really good. My foot feels really good,' Seferian-Jenkins said Wednesday from Arizona, where he's been training. 'I've been running route, doing all the exercise and workout drills that they've asked me to do. I feel very comfortable and confident that I'll be ready to go when it comes to training camp.'
|Footballguys view: While he won't have more than a very low end TE2 value to start the season, Sefarian-Jenkins is an interesting dynasty prospect. With defenses focused on Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans, he could find a lot of room underneath when he gets healthy and comfortable in the offense.|
Austin Seferian-Jenkins player page
Texans | Alan Bonner sees time in slot Thu Jul 10, 01:44 PM
Houston Texans WR Alan Bonner received some time as a slot receiver during offseason workouts and indicated he is also in the running for a return job.
|Footballguys view: While in and of itself this piece of information might not seem vital, given that Bonner is at best the third behind DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson. It becomes more interesting if Johnson holds out or is traded though. A sixth rounder in the 2013 NFL draft, Bonner flashed ability in minicamps and OTAs last year but ended up on injured reserve instead. Originally tagged as a returner, his moves after the catch could make him an interesting slot player. Don't draft him now, but keep him in mind depending on what happens with Johnson.|

Giants | Odell Beckham Jr. to work with Eli Manning Thu Jul 10, 01:32 PM
New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to work with QB Eli Manning this week at the Manning passing academy.
|Footballguys view: The quicker they can get the two of them on the same page, the better. He has to fight past a few players ahead of him so until we see more of him and how he and Manning fit together we still see him as a depth player--no more than a WR5 right now. But his upside is much higher and we will be watching him closely in training camp.|

Lions | Team to get creative with defensive line Thu Jul 10, 01:24 PM
Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh said the team is going to have fun with how the defense is used in 2014. Defensive coordinator Teryl Austin plans to get creative with how he uses the defensive line. "We're going to have a lot of fun going against offenses and our defensive line play is going to be very similar but at the same time very different," Suh said. "That will be for those offensive lines to figure out; not going to give any secrets away right now but we're going to have some fun out there."
|Footballguys view: We've heard and seen the team move Suh around but it hasn't helped his fantasy numbers. We'll believe it when we see it and we're a bit hesitant to think it would make a big difference anyway.|

Texans | Andre Johnson moving on? Thu Jul 10, 01:18 PM
Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson is now working out 'not thinking of the Texans,' according to a source. Four teams are expressing interest in trading for Johnson before the season.
|Footballguys view: It's hard to imagine that the team will take the cap hit that comes with trading (or releasing) Johnson. If he were (depending on where he landed) Johnson could put up some big numbers. As it stands for now, we still see him playing with Houston and still see him as a WR2. But this bears watching and the longer it goes on the more it might impact his fantasy season. Missing an OTA is one thing. Missing camps or preseason games could have a longer impact.|

Colts | Dwayne Allen will help offense be more creative Thu Jul 10, 01:17 PM
Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen's return will allow the offense be more creative this upcoming season, according to tight ends coach Alfredo Roberts. 'It makes us a better football team,' Roberts said. 'Getting him back is like getting a brand new player. (Allen) gives you a chance to do some other things. His skillset allows us to protect it up, or throw it or run it when we see the advantage. He gives us an advantage because he can do some things in the backfield, do some things in-line where [TE Coby Fleener] we feel like has blossomed as an outside guy. It gives you a little more of a chance to be creative.'
|Footballguys view: The Colts absolutely missed Allen in 2013 and he should be a big part of the offense this year. The downside is that there are so many targets for quarterback Andrew Luck that Allen may not see as many targets as he could. We've got him as a TE2 even though his talent could produce more. His opportunities (or lack thereof) will cap his upside though.|
