Texans | Jadeveon Clowney should be ready for Week 1 Thu Jun 11, 01:40 PM
Houston Texans DE Jadeveon Clowney (knee) is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.
|Footballguys view: The Texans can't afford the 2014 first-overall draft pick to miss another year after he missed his rookie season. With questions about work-ethic and drive still on some people's minds, Clowney has much to prove in order to avoid being labeled a "bust" in his second season.|

Texans | HOU may name QB before camp Thu Jun 11, 01:28 PM
Houston Texans QBs Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer are candidates for the starting quarterback job, and head coach Bill O'Brien indicated the team may name a starting quarterback before the start of training camp.
|Footballguys view: Hoyer is an aggressively average quarterback (some would say scrappy) while Mallett is inconsistent with a much bigger arm. Right now, early redraft owners are split but neither quarterback is getting traction. The Texans want to run the ball as much as possible and play great defense. The QB situation just isn't going to be that attractive for fantasy owners, despite the weapons around them in the passing game.|

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham hopes to be ready Thu Jun 11, 01:27 PM
Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) said he hopes to be able to fully participate during the mandatory minicamp next week. Green-Beckham has been limited because of a hamstring injury. He said he is also working on losing some weight.
|Footballguys view: Green-Beckham can only do so much off the field, though given the red flags he had prior to the draft, staying out of trouble is a major victory. Still, we know rookie receivers can struggle when transitioning to the pro level--and missing any time won't help that. Add in the uncertainty around fellow rookie Marcus Mariota and Green-Beckham's WR5 status (ADP of late 12th round) looks just about right, if not just a tad bit high.|

Bills | Matt Cassel struggles Wednesday Thu Jun 11, 12:53 PM
Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel threw one interception and almost had two other passes intercepted during practice Wednesday, June 10. Cassel shared first-team reps with QB EJ Manuel during practice.
|Footballguys view: Color us shocked...if the color of being shocked looks like the color of complete and total expectation. Cassel is an average quarterback (at best) and he's learning a new system in a new offense with new players. We wouldn't touch the Bills quarterback situation with a ten-foot pole, but keep an eye on who wins the job as it will impact the rest of the offense.|

Jets | Zach Sudfeld dealing with injury Thu Jun 11, 12:52 PM
New York Jets TE Zach Sudfeld (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, June 11, because of a knee injury. Head coach Todd Bowles said Sudfeld may be dealing with a serious injury and that he will undergo tests on the knee.
|Footballguys view: Sudfeld was a hot commodity as an undrafted rookie with the Patriots in 2013, but he failed to pay off for anyone who grabbed him. He's behind Jace Amaro and Jeff Cumberland and mired in an offense with players like Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker as well. Sudfeld isn't helping himself by being hurt and his role in the offense, limited already, could dwindle even further.|

Jaguars | Marqise Lee may miss minicamp Thu Jun 11, 12:39 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (knee) could be held out of minicamp next week, because he is still recovering from a knee injury he suffered earlier this offseason.
|Footballguys view: He is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. Lee has talent, but his struggles staying on the field limit what fantasy owners should be expecting from him. At best, Lee is tracking as a 14th-round 'Hail Mary' as far as ADP goes. However, if he can't get on the field he should fall to the undrafted level in standard leagues.|

Bills | Chris Williams expected at minicamp Thu Jun 11, 12:39 PM
Buffalo Bills OG Chris Williams (back) is expected to participate in the mandatory minicamp next week.
|Footballguys view: General manager Doug Whaley said Williams has not participated in offseason workouts because he is recovering from back surgery. The Bills need some help on the offensive line, and they were hoping Williams might contribute more than he did last season before landing on injured reserve.|
Jaguars | Julius Thomas sits out Thu Jun 11, 12:10 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas (leg) did not participate in practice Thursday, June 11. Thomas was held out for precautionary reasons.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars will be careful with their several million dollar man, a guy who they need healthy if Blake Bortles and the offense are going to take the next step. Right now, he is tracking as a seventh-round pick and probably will climb as time goes on. Fantasy owners need to realize that his numbers will dip this season compared to what Thomas did in Denver catching passes from Peyton Manning.|

Browns | Dwayne Bowe practicing Thu Jun 11, 12:08 PM
Cleveland Browns WR Dwayne Bowe (knee) is participating in organized team activities Thursday, June 11.
|Footballguys view: The Browns really need help at wide receiver and while Bowe has fallen short of his potential, he's an upgrade over what they had last year when Josh Gordon was suspended. Right now, Bowe is tracking as a late pick (14th round) which puts him at depth and no more for fantasy players. Part of that is Bowe (and his lack of focus), but a lot of it is also the messy quarterback situation.|
Dwayne Bowe player page
Jets | Brandon Marshall sitting out Thu Jun 11, 10:51 AM
New York Jets WR Brandon Marshall (toe) is out of practice Thursday, June 11.
|Footballguys view: Marshall is currently going as a WR2 (around the fourth round) and part of that is the quarterback situation with the Jets. How good will Geno Smith be and how will that impact Marshall's numbers? Do remember though that Marshall has had a 1,000-yard season for every year he has played save his rookie year and in 2014 when he was hurt. He could pass that mark this year for the Jets as their top wideout.|

Patriots | Tim Wright released Thu Jun 11, 09:56 AM
New England Patriots TE Tim Wright was released Thursday, June 11.
|Footballguys view: Wright was the guy everyone thought was a steal from Tampa Bay in the trade with Logan Mankins, but he was on the block for a reason. He never lived up to expectations and couldn't get out from Rob Gronkowski's shadow. Wherever he lands, we don't expect much more of an impact.|

Lions | Laken Tomlinson signs rookie deal Thu Jun 11, 08:41 AM
Detroit Lions OG Laken Tomlinson signed his rookie four-year deal Thursday, June 11. The deal is believed to be worth $8.3 million.
|Footballguys view: The Lions are always looking to shore up their line, and while Tomlinson represents some upside he's still pretty raw. A powerful player up front on the line, he has very little athleticism, and even inside he might struggle at first.|
Bears | Coach unsure of Martellus Bennett's attendance Thu Jun 11, 02:46 AM
Chicago Bears coach John Fox is not sure whether TE Martellus Bennett will be at mandatory minicamp when it opens shortly. Bennett is pushing for a raise from the $4.9 million base he's scheduled to earn in 2015.
|Footballguys view: This is a situation that bears watching as training camp approaches. Bennett wants a raise, but the Bears don't seem likely to oblige him. This may turn into a holdout situation in August. Stay tuned.|

Steelers | Big Ben loves supporting cast Thu Jun 11, 12:14 AM
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger is excited about the team's offense heading into the 2015 season, which he feels might be the best supporting cast of his career. "I hate to yes or no, because I don't want to offend anybody else that's been here," Roethlisberger said Wednesday, June 10. "But you look at stats from the NFL, we had the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 1 overall back. Kind of hard to argue with those numbers."
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners should be excited by this offense too--especially when Le'Veon Bell comes back from his three-game suspension. Roethlisberger is a QB1 with the upside to finish as a top-5 fantasy quarterback. Bell is a RB1 you should consider at the top of your draft--even with the suspension. Antonio Brown is a WR1 and a virtual lock to finish the season as a top-5 fantasy season.|

Cowboys | Darren McFadden continues to rehab Thu Jun 11, 12:13 AM
Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) worked on the side Wednesday, June 10, at organized team activities (OTAs), as he continues to rehab his strained hamstring.
|Footballguys view: Talent has never been a question for McFadden. However, staying healthy has been a near-constant problem for him during his pro career. Any back worth a damn could be productive (and certainly fantasy relevant) behind that incredibly talented offensive line in Dallas. If healthy, McFadden will compete with Joseph Randle for the starting job in 2015.|

Broncos | Peyton Manning limited in OTAs Thu Jun 11, 12:12 AM
Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning and other veterans have accepted a lighter load during organized team activities (OTAs), as younger and inexperienced players are seeing more spring practice reps.
|Footballguys view: Nothing to see here people. Manning has looked rock solid according to our very own Cecil Lammey reporting from Dove Valley. His arm strength and velocity are as good as can be expected, and Manning is throwing accurately short, intermediate and deep (around 45-55 yards). Head coach Gary Kubiak is trying to keep his veterans fresh and healthy for training camp in late July.|

Cardinals | Michael Floyd bothered by hamstring Wed Jun 10, 09:07 PM
Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) missed practice due to a minor hamstring injury Wednesday, June 10, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
|Footballguys view: This is a minor injury, so don't get too concerned. After a breakout season in 2013 where he ranked as the 23rd-best fantasy wide receiver, Floyd's production fell in 2014. Last year, he ranked as the 33rd-best fantasy wide receiver in what was a disappointing season. A big part of that was losing QB Carson Palmer to a knee injury. This year--with a healthy Palmer--Floyd could be in for a bounce-back season. His current ADP is WR35 (7.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

NFL | Knowshon Moreno expected to miss season Wed Jun 10, 08:55 PM
Free-agent RB Knowshon Moreno (Dolphins) is not expected to play during the 2015 season because his knee isn't right.
|Footballguys view: We've likely seen the last of Moreno in the NFL. He was a first-round pick for the Broncos in 2009, but he never played up to his potential as a pro. Moreno flashed here and there, but injuries were always preventing him from producing at his expected level.|

Cardinals | David Johnson represents safety net Wed Jun 10, 07:38 PM
Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson was praised by head coach Bruce Arians for his work in the receiving game. RB Andre Ellington excelled as a receiver in 2014, but his difficulties staying healthy would force Arians and the Cardinals to alter their game plan. Johnson is expected to allow for a much more seamless transition in the event of an Ellington injury.
|Footballguys view: Johnson is a strong inside runner with the ability to consistently run through arm tackles. He's also a really good receiver out of the backfield. Johnson has the ability to be a full-time starter if needed. He'll work as a reserve runner/receiver behind Andre Ellington this year. Keep him on your waiver-wire speed dial in standard leagues where bench space is precious.|

Texans | Arian Foster will be focus when healthy Wed Jun 10, 07:10 PM
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster will get plenty of work on the ground this season, so long as he can stay healthy, according to head coach Bill O'Brien Wednesday, June 10. 'Well, we have a very good running back,' O'Brien said. 'So you can rest assured that as long as he's healthy and he's out there, we will run the ball. I can tell you that. That's one thing we will do,' said O'Brien. Foster has been available throughout organized team activities, and he has attended all of the Texans' voluntary offseason programs.
|Footballguys view: Foster has to be the focus because the Texans QBs aren't so very good. They may have the worst collection of quarterbacks in the entire league. This team wants to play swarming defense and run the ball early and often. Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett and Tom Savage don't excite us in the least bit....even in dynasty leagues.|

Vikings | Adrian Peterson not expected in preseason Wed Jun 10, 07:08 PM
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson isn't expected to see any playing time during the preseason, according to head coach Mike Zimmer Wednesday, June 10. 'We're talking in June, so you can't hold me to it, but he's carried the ball a lot (in his eight-year career) and he's going to continue to carry the ball a lot. He'll get plenty of looks and reps in practice,' said Zimmer.
|Footballguys view: Peterson should get plenty of work in training camp, but the team will be cautious with him in the preseason. He missed all but one game last year, but Peterson has been impressing everyone during OTAs in Minnesota. We're expecting the same old Peterson in 2015.|

Bills | Still a QB competition in Buffalo Wed Jun 10, 06:41 PM
Buffalo Bills QBs EJ Manuel, Matt Cassel and Tyrod Taylor are still competing for the starting quarterback job, according to head coach Rex Ryan. 'Wisdom tells me to let I play out, we'll see what happens through the end,' Ryan said.
|Footballguys view: This isn't an exciting race to watch for fantasy owners. Cassel has the most experience (by far) in this battle, but he's painfully average at best. Manuel has great size and arm strength , but he's hurt a lot and makes poor decisions throwing the ball. Taylor is super quick, super athletic and has a rocket arm, but he lacks sharpness as a passer. The Bills are going to have a run-heavy offense with superstar back LeSean McCoy leading the way. The quarterback won't be asked to do that much for the offense.|

Broncos | Montee Ball determined this offseason Wed Jun 10, 06:25 PM
Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball seems more motivated this offseason after suffering an early-season groin injury and losing his starting job to RB C.J. Anderson. Coaches have noticed that Ball is more focused following a tumultuous 2014 campaign. Ball said he's ready to be the next man up and is determined to win his starting spot back.
|Footballguys view: Ball has been impressive out at Broncos minicamp according to our very own Cecil Lammey. The problem for him is that Anderson has looked better. This battle bears watching over training camp, but it's Anderson's job to lose. Head coach Gary Kubiak wants to find one bellcow to be the featured back, and Anderson can fit that role. We like Anderson as a low-end RB1 (early 2nd-round pick), but know that he has the upside to lead the league in rushing this season.|

Lions | Ameer Abdullah impressing QB Wed Jun 10, 06:15 PM
Detroit Lions rookie RB Ameer Abdullah has already caught the attention of QB Matthew Stafford. 'I think he has great balance. He's obviously a low-to-the-ground guy. He seems to hide pretty well behind [the offensive line] and he's got good vision,' Stafford said. Stafford also praised Abdullah for his pass-catching ability, including his hands and route-running.
|Footballguys view: Take note fantasy owners. Abdullah is an exciting rookie RB to watch out for. He'll split time this year with Joique Bell (provided that Bell is healthy), and Abdullah has the speed to take it the house any time he touches the ball. He's not a pile-pusher, but Abdullah is dangerous in space and can eat up chunks of yards in a hurry.|

Packers | Jordy Nelson practices Wednesday Wed Jun 10, 05:50 PM
Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (hip) practiced Wednesday, June 10, for the first time since undergoing hip surgery earlier this offseason. Nelson participated in individual drills during organized team activities.
|Footballguys view: Great news for the Packers here. After practice, Nelson expressed confidence in where he's at in the recovery process. He should be ready to rock at the start of training camp.|

Jets | Brandon Marshall leaves practice Wed Jun 10, 05:40 PM

Jets | Geno Smith rebounds at minicamp Wed Jun 10, 05:36 PM
New York Jets QB Geno Smith had a better practice at minicamp Wednesday, June 10, than he did Tuesday, June 9, when he threw three interceptions. Smith saw the majority of first-team repetitions and did not throw any interceptions this time around.
|Footballguys view: There are going to be good days and bad days for Smith as he learns a new offense under OC Chan Gailey. We believe in Gailey's ability to get the most out of the quarterbacks under him, so don't be surprised if Smith puts together a couple of games like he did in Week 17 last year against the Dolphins. In that game, Smith had 358 yards passing and three touchdowns. He wants to carry that momentum over to this season under the guidance of Gailey.|

Ravens | Breshad Perriman impressing at OTAs Wed Jun 10, 05:23 PM
Baltimore Ravens rookie WR Breshad Perriman has shown his deep speed, physical prowess, body control and explosiveness so far in organized team activities. Offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said Perriman has provided what the team saw on tape, adding that Perriman already has a good understanding of the game.
|Footballguys view: Perriman is one of our favorite rookie receivers in this draft class. He's a fluid athlete who can take the top off the defense and win at the point of the catch. With Torrey Smith (49ers) moving on in free agency, the Ravens need to find an impact receiver to start opposite Steve Smith in 2015.|

Packers | Randall Cobb feeling no pressure Wed Jun 10, 05:07 PM
Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb said the pressure he's felt in the past has been released since he signed his new, long-term contract. Cobb said now he can focus on working on his game and the high expectations he's set for himself.
|Footballguys view: In 2014, Cobb recorded career highs in catches (91), receiving yards (1,287) and touchdowns (12). Those numbers put him among the top-10 of fantasy receivers. We're expecting similar numbers this year, and Cobb is certainly an exciting option for DFS players each week because of his ability to take over a game.|

Giants | Shane Vereen featured in passing game Wed Jun 10, 04:35 PM
New York Giants RB Shane Vereen caught pass after pass in organized team activities, particularly in the red zone.
|Footballguys view: There have been quite a few positive stories about Vereen coming out of Giants minicamp. We always take OTA "hot takes" with a grain of salt, but we also look for a constant rhythm to the reporting coming out of camp. Vereen is a player of note. He'll work as a part-time back for the Giants behind starter Rashad Jennings. Fantasy owners in PPR leagues should note what he's been doing this offseason and look at him as a low-end RB3 with upside.|

Giants | Eli Manning throwing better Wed Jun 10, 04:24 PM
New York Giants QB Eli Manning has shown improvements this offseason in second-year offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's offense. Manning has extremely limited the amount of interceptions he's thrown compared to last offseason.
|Footballguys view: The second year in an offense will usually be more productive than the first. Manning sounds more comfortable in the McAdoo system, and he certainly has big-time weapons around him in the passing game. The Giants will be even better off if Victor Cruz (knee) can return to form in 2015.|

Eagles | Sam Bradford progressing Wed Jun 10, 03:35 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford (knee) is progressing well in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Bradford has been practicing more and has looked more mobile while doing so, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Bradford said that he's not sure if he'll be at 100% by the time training camp starts, however.
|Footballguys view: Take note of that last sentence. The Eagles added this guy (and are paying him way more than Nick Foles was set to make) with the idea that he would be the starter. Bradford's career has been knocked off track by injuries so much that he was actually considering retirement. We love the way Chip Kelly will take chances, but we're not confident about Bradford's ability to stay healthy. Let's see if the veteran QB can be ready by the start of training camp.|

Eagles | Nelson Agholor impressing Wed Jun 10, 03:26 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Nelson Agholor has shown off his speed, athleticism and route-running so far in organized team activities, and seems to be acclimating quickly to the professional level, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
|Footballguys view: Agholor can be the answer at WR1 for the Eagles since Jeremy Maclin is now suiting up for the Chiefs. The rookie from USC has a fearless nature when running routes over the middle. He can make defenders miss after the catch and does a good job of gaining separation at the stem of the route. His current ADP is WR33 (7.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

Cowboys | Terrance Williams making progress Wed Jun 10, 02:39 PM
Dallas Cowboys WR Terrance Williams has shown good progress with his play during offseason workouts, according to QB Tony Romo.
|Footballguys view: Williams will be splitting secondary targets behind Dez Bryant with Cole Beasley and tight end Jason Witten. He's a threat to score a deep touchdown on any given Sunday because of his long speed. That makes him an intriguing bye-week option for fantasy owners in deep leagues. That also makes him an interesting--and cheap--option for DFS players in certain matchups.|

Falcons | Leonard Hankerson impresses coach Wed Jun 10, 02:29 PM
Atlanta Falcons WR Leonard Hankerson has been one of the standout players during organized team activities, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
|Footballguys view: Hankerson has talent, he just has a problem staying healthy after battling knee injuries for most of his career. The Falcons new staff includes offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan--a coach Hankerson worked under during their time together in Washington. If healthy, Hankerson will push for playing time behind Julio Jones and Roddy White.|

Raiders | Derek Carr performs well in practice Wed Jun 10, 02:13 PM
Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr (finger) participated in practice Tuesday, June 9, and threw every pass that was called.

Jets | Jace Amaro still not practicing Wed Jun 10, 02:08 PM
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro (back) is not participating in practice Wednesday, June 10.
|Footballguys view: Amaro needs to get healthy so he can get acclimated to the new Chan Gailey offense. There will be plenty of spread concepts in Gailey's system, so Amaro could take a big leap forward in production this season. Watch his progress (and health) closely in training camp. He's an intriguing sleeper tight end to monitor.|

Cardinals | Troy Niklas injures ankle Wed Jun 10, 02:08 PM

Free-agent DT C.J. M. Mosley (Dolphins) signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, June 10, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Mosley is reunited with former Lions teammate Ndamukong Suh in Miami. Playing next to Suh last year in 15 games (eight starts), Mosley recorded 26 tackles and 2.5 sacks while helping the Lions be the best run defense in the league.|

Saints | Mark Ingram returns to practice Wed Jun 10, 01:19 PM
New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (ankle, foot) participated in organized team activities Wednesday, June 10.

Lions | Joique Bell not able to practice Wed Jun 10, 01:14 PM
Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (Achilles', knee) was present for organized team activities Wednesday, June 10, but was not able to participate in the drills.
|Footballguys view: The Lions have been looking at some free agent running backs this week, leading some to speculate about Bell's injury status. Right now, the plan is for him to be ready at some point during training camp. The language of the NFL is money--or transactions--so watch for any running back signings in Detroit. If Bell needs more time to heal, the Lions should grab a veteran free agent. Bell underwent surgery back on January 20th.|

Lions | Ryan Broyles misses OTAs Wed Jun 10, 01:11 PM
Detroit Lions WR Ryan Broyles did not participate in organized team activities Wednesday, June 10. Head coach Jim Caldwell said the absence was not due to an injury.

New York Jets QB Geno Smith is scheduled to work out with the running backs, wide receivers and tight ends for a week at some point before training camp. WR Brandon Marshall will be hosting the workouts in Chicago.
|Footballguys view: Smith has been putting in extra time this offseason to build chemistry with guys like Marshall. The Jets will be implementing spread concepts under new offensive coordinator Chan Gailey, and this should work to Smith's strengths as a passer.|

Cowboys | Ryan Williams working on side Wed Jun 10, 12:41 PM

|Footballguys view: The story with Williams will likely always read "what if." The dude is incredibly talented as a runner, and he was a superstar in college at Virginia Tech. His career has been knocked completely off track by injuries and this year with Dallas might be his last hurrah in the NFL.|

Seahawks | Tarvaris Jackson agrees to terms Wed Jun 10, 12:35 PM
Free-agent QB Tarvaris Jackson (Seahawks) agreed to terms with the Seattle Seahawks Tuesday, June 9. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: The biggest no-brainer decision in the history of the planet here. Okay, maybe it wasn't THAT obvious, but with only R.J. Archer as the backup behind Russell Wilson, the Seahawks had to do something. Jackson knows the system like the back of his hand and should have no problem winning the QB2 job for Seattle.|

Bengals | Geno Atkins impressing Wed Jun 10, 10:55 AM

|Footballguys view: A scary Atkins is going to be a concern for opponents this season. Atkins can stuff the run, but he also can generate middle pressure against the quarterback. It sounds like Atkins should rebound from a disappointing 2014 where he looked tentative returning from his ACL injury.|

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford (knee) appeared to still be hobbled during organized team activities Tuesday, June 9, and he worked with a large brace on his leg while doing limited activity on the field.
