Ravens | Nine signed to futures contracts    Mon Jan 12, 04:02 PM

The Baltimore Ravens have signed QB Keith Wenning, QB Bryn Renner, CB Victor Hampton, CB Quinton Pointer, OT Marcel Jones, TE Allen Reisner, TE Konrad Reuland, FB Kiero Small and DE Zach Thompson to futures contracts. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Renner is an interesting player to watch here in super super deep dynasty leagues. He was a star quarterback for North Carolina, and Renner has the arm to challenge the edge of the field. He was added as a UDFA by the Broncos after the 2014 NFL draft. The Broncos decided to only keep two QBs on the roster, so Renner was let go after training camp.

Seahawks | Max Unger expected to be fine    Mon Jan 12, 01:40 PM

Seattle Seahawks C Max Unger (ankle) looks to be fine after leaving the Divisional Round playoff game because of an ankle injury. Unger initially thought the injury was the same one that kept him out of multiple games earlier in the season, but the injury appears to be a different injury and a less severe one.

Seahawks | Kevin Norwood to have bigger role?    Mon Jan 12, 12:24 PM

Seattle Seahawks WR Kevin Norwood will likely have a bigger role in the offense after the season-ending injury to WR Paul Richardson (knee). Norwood had nine catches for 102 yards this year, but he was inactive for the teams' divisional round win.

Footballguys view: Norwood is a good player who runs strong routes and has very good hands. He's quicker than fast, and Norwood could develop into a strong pro.

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin likely for kickoff duties    Mon Jan 12, 12:23 PM

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin will likely take over the kickoff duties in the playoffs with WR Paul Richardson (knee) done for the rest of the year.

Colts | Andrew Luck hasn't beaten Pats    Mon Jan 12, 12:18 PM

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck is 0-3 and has thrown eight interceptions in his three career games against the New England Patriots. "I'd like to think I'm a better quarterback and we're a better team and more well-equipped to handle the unknown and the unforeseen," said Luck, who threw for 303 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 42-20 loss to the Patriots at home Nov. 16.

Footballguys view: We'll see if Luck can actually get it done this week in Foxborough. The Colts are playing hot right now, and Luck will certainly go down swinging in the AFC Championship game.

Broncos | Peyton Manning decision has target window    Mon Jan 12, 11:53 AM

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning's $19 million salary for 2015 becomes guaranteed March 9.

Footballguys view: Manning's quad injury that was revealed as more severe than originally thought sheds a lot of light on what we saw from the veteran quarterback. He has to pass a physical for that money to be fully guaranteed this year, but at this point in his career Manning is not concerned with money. In fact, the Broncos could be asking Manning to take a pay cut if they want to go after some high-dollar free agents.

Broncos | Peyton Manning injured Dec. 14    Mon Jan 12, 11:20 AM

Broncos | Peyton Manning has torn quadriceps    Mon Jan 12, 11:05 AM

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning (quadriceps) played Sunday, Jan. 11, and the final month of the season, with a torn right quadriceps muscle, according to two sources.

Footballguys view: And the truth shall set you free! Just watching Manning it was easy to see that something was wrong. Many mistakenly put the blame on his lack of arm strength when in fact it was his leg failing him. A healthy Manning probably looks a lot better than he did over the last few weeks of the season and in the postseason.

Patriots | Tom Brady lethal on quick throws late    Mon Jan 12, 11:00 AM

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was 16-for-16 for 148 yards and two touchdowns in the second half of the AFC divisional-round playoff game Sunday, Jan. 11, when he threw the ball within 2 seconds of the snap.

Footballguys view: Brady was 4th in the NFL this year with an average time before pass (TBP) of 2.34 seconds. The average for the entire league is 2.53 seconds.

Dolphins | Mike Wallace quit multiple times    Mon Jan 12, 10:20 AM

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace has reportedly quit on the team multiple times this season. He told his position coach before halftime of the season finale, and later repeated it to his head coach, that if he wasn't getting the football thrown to him, there was no need for him to play. He allegedly did the same thing in Week 15 against the New England Patriots.

Footballguys view: Making $17 million in 2014 wasn't enough for Wallace. He wants the ball more--and that's not a bad thing--but there are proper ways to go about getting it. We'll see if the two sides part ways at some point before the start of the 2015 season.

Broncos | Peyton Manning tanks on lengthy throws    Mon Jan 12, 10:02 AM

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning was 2-for-12 on passes that traveled 15 yards or more Sunday, Jan. 11, in the divisional-round playoff loss.

Footballguys view: Manning was awful in the loss to the Colts. He's been basically playing on one leg with a quadriceps injury. We'll see if he wants to come back and try to get to the Super Bowl again in 2015.

Packers | Eddie Lacy misses time    Mon Jan 12, 08:45 AM

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (asthma) missed most of the second quarter of the NFC divisional-round playoff game Sunday, Jan. 11, due to an asthma attack.

Footballguys view: Lacy is going to be key for the Packers if they want to beat the Seahawks on Sunday. His hammering style is a must to soften up the tough Seattle front.

Cowboys | Tony Romo played with finger injury    Sun Jan 11, 11:54 PM

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (finger) said he played the divisional-round playoff game against the Green Bay Packers with damaged ligaments in his left ring finger.

Footballguys view: Romo has certainly showed his toughness this year. He has played with a back injury for most of the season and now this.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers expects to be limited    Sun Jan 11, 10:15 PM

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) said he doesn't expect to be fully healthy for next weekend's conference title game against the Seattle Seahawks, but he said he will play in the game.

Footballguys view: We're not shocked here. Rodgers will be limited, and the Packers will take it easy on him as they get ready for a big game in Seattle.

Broncos | Peyton Manning undecided on future    Sun Jan 11, 09:05 PM

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning said he will have to take some time to see how he feels before deciding whether or not he plays next season.

Colts | Reggie Wayne not a factor    Sun Jan 11, 08:55 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne had no catches and was targeted just once in the team's 24-13 win over the Denver Broncos in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: Wayne has seen better days. He's not the same player he used to be, and Wayne is going to be a free agent in 2015. Wayne would like to stay with the team, but that's no guarantee. We can't imagine the market being white hot for his services.

Colts | Dan Herron shows versatility    Sun Jan 11, 08:45 PM

Indianapolis Colts RB Dan Herron ran 23 times for 63 yards and a score and added eight catches for 32 yards in the team's 24-13 win over the Denver Broncos Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: Herron was used in many different ways against the Broncos. While the overall numbers are not overwhelming, he did do enough to keep the chains moving on multiple plays.

Broncos | Peyton Manning struggles in loss    Sun Jan 11, 08:32 PM

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning completed 26 of his 46 pass attempts and finished with 211 yards and one touchdown in a 24-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: We might have seen the last of Peyton Manning in a Broncos uniform and in the NFL. At his post-game press conference, Manning was non-committal when asked if he was going to return in 2015.

Seahawks | Torn ACL for Paul Richardson    Sun Jan 11, 06:34 PM

Seattle Seahawks WR Paul Richardson (knee) will miss the remainder of the playoffs and could miss the start of next season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 10.

Footballguys view: Bad news for the rookie receiver here. He missed the 2012 season at Colorado with a knee injury, and Richardson was known to have durability issues in college before that. We'll see if he can come back at some time next year. The Seahawks could put him on PUP at the beginning of the 2015 season.

Packers | Quiet game for Jordy Nelson    Sun Jan 11, 04:57 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson finished with just two catches on five targets for 22 yards in a 26-21 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: The Cowboys worked diligently to slow down Nelson, and it worked. However, the other assets in the Packers passing game were able to come through in the victory.

Cowboys | DeMarco Murray solid in loss    Sun Jan 11, 04:53 PM

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray had 25 carries for a game-high 125 yards and a score in a 26-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: Murray did everything he possibly could to help the Cowboys. In the end, it wasn't enough for Dallas to come out victorious.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson limps off    Sun Jan 11, 04:49 PM

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (undisclosed) limped off the field with trainers in the team's divisional-round playoff game Sunday, Jan. 11, but is expected to return.

Footballguys view: He's back in and breaking off big plays for the Broncos.

Packers | Davante Adams steps up    Sun Jan 11, 04:45 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams had seven catches for a team-high 117 yards and a score in a 26-21 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: With Jordy Nelson locked down, Adams had to take advantage of single coverage. He did just that, and was one of the biggest reasons the Packers came out on top.

Packers | Aaron Rodgers shines despite injury    Sun Jan 11, 04:38 PM

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) threw for 316 yards and three scores in a 26-21 win over the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional-round playoff game Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: Rodgers was dealing on Sunday afternoon. His calf injury didn't seem to bother him that much, and he had a ton of success throwing the ball. Rodgers didn't do anything (four attempts, minus-4 yards rushing) against the Cowboys.

Ravens | Torrey Smith wants to stay in Baltimore    Sun Jan 11, 04:14 PM

Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith said he wants to stay with the team and that he would love to have a deal signed before he becomes a free agent in March.

Footballguys view: Smith is a fantastic deep target, but his production has lacked consistency in the pros. We can't imagine the market being white hot for his services, and he's certainly not a candidate for the franchise tag (should be around $12 million for WRs). We'll see if the Ravens find a way to come to an agreement with the veteran receiver.

Cowboys | Rolando McClain will not return    Sun Jan 11, 03:34 PM

Colts | Trent Richardson inactive    Sun Jan 11, 03:23 PM

Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson has been ruled inactive for the Divisional Round playoff game against the Denver Broncos.

Footballguys view: Even when he's active, he's inactive. In all seriousness, Richardson has been a huge disappointment during his time with the Colts. The former third overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft has struggled to stay healthy and productive as a pro.

Dolphins | No pay cut for Mike Wallace    Sun Jan 11, 12:19 PM

Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace is not willing to accept a pay cut this offseason, according to a source.

Footballguys view: He doesn't want to take a pay cut, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Wallace is scheduled to count $12.1 million against the salary cap in 2015. The Dolphins still owe him $9.6 million in dead money. Post June 1st, that amount would fall to $5.2 million.

Ravens | Steve Smith plans to return    Sun Jan 11, 11:24 AM

Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith plans to play next season, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Smith might have been contemplating retirement earlier in his career, but that's not the case now. His time with the Ravens has rejuvenated Smith, and he was on fire to begin the 2014 season. Smith's production trailed off as the season went on, but he should still be counted on 2015 as Torrey Smith is a free agent.

Bills | Hire Rex Ryan    Sun Jan 11, 08:57 AM

Free-agent head coach Rex Ryan (Jets) signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract with the Buffalo Bills Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: Wow, just wow. The Bills get arguably the best coach available on the market right now. Ryan stays in the division with this move, and he inherits a team with a world-class defense. He's expected to bring in Greg Roman to run the offense, while Jim Schwartz will continue to run the defense.

NCAA | Buck Allen to turn pro    Sun Jan 11, 07:43 AM

Southern California RB Buck Allen has announced his intention to enter the 2015 NFL Draft.

Footballguys view: Allen had a productive season for the Trojans in 2014. He finished the year with 1,489 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. We're expecting him to be a second- or third-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Broncos | Quanterus Smith to IR    Sun Jan 11, 07:33 AM

The Denver Broncos placed DE Quanterus Smith (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Jan. 10. To fill the roster spot, the team promoted LB Shaquil Barrett to the acrive roster.

Footballguys view: It's the same knee that Smith injured in his final season of college at Western Kentucky (2012). Smith missed his rookie season with this injury, and now he's going to have another recovery period to go through. He had 12 sacks in 2012, including three against Alabama, but Smith may never be the pass-rusher the Broncos envisioned when they selected him as a sleeper pick in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL draft.

The Seattle Seahawks held tryouts for DL Shawn Lemon, QB Dominique Davis and CB Keon Lyn earlier this week. DT Delvin Breaux was also in for a visit but did not work out.

Footballguys view: Davis is an interesting prospect to monitor, but only in the deepest of deep dynasty leagues. He's athletic and has a strong arm, but Davis needs to work on being more accurate.
