NFL | Jabrill Peppers declares for draft Tue Jan 10, 03:17 PM
Michigan S Jabrill Peppers has declared for the NFL Draft Tuesday, Jan. 10.
|Footballguys view: Peppers played linebacker and safety (among other positions) during his time with the Wolverines. He is incredibly athletic, versatile enough to return punts/kicks and can quickly eat up chunks of yards. He compares favorably to Cardinals S Tyrann Mathieu and should be a first-round pick.|
Dolphins | No signs of concussion for Matt Moore Tue Jan 10, 03:00 PM
Miami Dolphins QB Matt Moore (head) has not developed concussion symptoms following a big hit from Pittsburgh Steelers LB Bud Dupree, according to Moore's agent.

Ravens | Baltimore expects more from Joe Flacco Tue Jan 10, 01:58 PM
Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco passed for a career-high 4,317 yards in 2016 but finished with only 20 touchdowns (versus 15 interceptions) despite a career-high 672 attempts.
|Footballguys view: The Ravens can expect more, but they need to put better receivers around him if they want better results. They could also add a speedy running back to the mix as a receiver out of the backfield. The Ravens should make the changes necessary to help Flacco in 2017. If the line is 20 touchdowns, we'll take the over for Flacco next season.|

Steelers | Ladarius Green remains in protocol Tue Jan 10, 01:41 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Ladarius Green (concussion) participated in two full practices last week before sitting out the last one of the week after the team did not get the results they wanted from him following a post-practice test, keeping him in the league's concussion protocol.
|Footballguys view: Nobody knows if Green is going to be ready for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. We'll get a clue about his availability if Green travels with the team to Kansas City.|

Chiefs | Jamaal Charles wants to keep playing Tue Jan 10, 01:40 PM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) stated on his website recently that he wants to continue playing.
|Footballguys view: Charles has a $7 million cap number in 2017, and the Chiefs might want to move on with that salary (and no dead money left on the contract). Over the last two years, Charles has only played in eight games. When healthy, Charles still has the speed to gash defenses quickly. He'd get some interest on the open market if the Chiefs release him.|

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) moved around well during limited work last week, suggesting he is on track to play to suit up for the team's Divisional Round game this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks.
|Footballguys view: We'll know more about Hooper's status later in the week. If he can participate (even if he's limited again) on Friday, then Hooper should be good to go for Saturday's home game against the Seahawks.|

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell likely to take Wednesday off Tue Jan 10, 12:49 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is unlikely to practice Wednesday, Jan. 11, for maintenance reasons after touching the ball 31 times in the team's Wild Card win over the Miami Dolphins.
|Footballguys view: It would be a bit surprising to see Bell practice on Wednesday. Give him a day of rest as Bell is likely to have another monster workload against the Chiefs in the Divisional Round.|

Steelers | Big Ben's foot 'shouldn't be an issue' Tue Jan 10, 12:29 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (foot) may be held out of practice Wednesday, Jan. 11, but head coach Mike Tomlin told the media Tuesday, Jan. 10, that Roethlisberger's foot injury 'shouldn't be an issue.'
|Footballguys view: All reports have been positive about Roethlisberger so far. He was in a walking boot after the Wild Card game against the Dolphins, but he should be able to practice at some point this week. Roethlisberger is on track to play against the Chiefs in the Divisional Round.|

NFL | Deshaun Watson going pro Tue Jan 10, 12:05 PM
Clemson QB Deshaun Watson has announced he will enter 2017 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: After winning it all with Clemson on Monday night, Watson has nothing left to prove. A plus athlete, Watson is tough and proved that he can take big hits and stay aggressive as a passer. He's a first-round pick for sure, but after his performance in the title game we could see him as a top-5 pick or perhaps even number one overall.|

Vikings | Kyle Rudolph had career year Tue Jan 10, 10:42 AM
Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph had a career-high 83 catches for 840 yards, and his seven touchdowns were the most since 2012. He reached a performance escalator of $375,000 on 2018 and 2019 salaries for surpassing 80 catches. His 132 targets were the most among tight ends this season.
|Footballguys view: That's what happens when Sam Bradford won't go down the field with the ball. Rudolph was a great safety-valve receiver for Bradford, and thus his numbers were boosted. With Bradford the likely starter next year for the Vikings, fantasy owners can expect more of the same from Rudolph.|

49ers | Vance Joseph to interview for 49ers Tue Jan 10, 10:39 AM
Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will interview for the San Francisco 49ers' head coaching vacancy Thursday, Jan. 12.
|Footballguys view: That's if the Broncos don't hire him on Tuesday or Wednesday. Seen as the top candidate in Denver, Joseph could land the best job opening in the NFL. The Broncos still have a great core on defense and arguably the league's best secondary. Joseph could then hire someone like Mike McCoy to run the offense and get more production out of that side of the ball. The 49ers could use a guy like Joseph as well, but they may not get the chance if Denver strikes quickly.|
Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater's option likely exercised Tue Jan 10, 10:38 AM
Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is likely to have his fifth-year option picked up for the 2018 season. Bridgewater is under contract for $2.18 million for 2017, and the 2018 option could be worth more than $11 million. However, it would give the team a full year to assess him after his major knee injury.
|Footballguys view: That would be a wise move for the Vikings. Nobody knows how Bridgewater is going to come back from his horrific knee injury, so the Vikings need to kind of wait and see.|

Giants | Ereck Flowers may move positions Tue Jan 10, 10:14 AM

Giants | Jason Pierre-Paul wants longer deal Tue Jan 10, 04:06 AM
New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul does not wish to take another one-year contract. Paul wants a longer-term contract after playing all season with 'seven-and-a-half fingers', he told NFL.com.
|Footballguys view: Pierre-Paul proved that he could play at a high level once again this year. In 12 games, Pierre-Paul had 54 total tackles, eight passes defensed and seven sacks. He will get quite a bit of interest on the open market in 2017.|

Broncos | Kyle Shanahan 'impressed' in interview Tue Jan 10, 01:03 AM
Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan 'impressed' in his interview with the Denver Broncos Saturday, Jan. 7. As a result, he may have narrowed the gap with the 'perceived favorite,' Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.
|Footballguys view: The Broncos could use someone to boost that offense, and Shanahan would do the trick. They need to find a coach that could get the most out of their 2016 first-round pick QB Paxton Lynch. Shanahan could follow in the footsteps of his father, Mike Shanahan, and go work with John Elway to get the Broncos back in a Super Bowl window. They're closer than some may think, and adding a guy like Kyle Shanahan could put them over the top.|
Bills | Doug Whaley to retain control of roster Tue Jan 10, 12:54 AM
Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley will maintain control of the team's 53-man roster, no matter who gets hired as head coach.
|Footballguys view: According to reports, the new head coach will have 'more power in the organization' which includes the hiring and firing of assistant coaches. That doesn't mean control over personnel. The buzz is that Bills interim head coach Anthony Lynn and Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott have emerged as the two frontrunners for the Bills' head-coaching vacancy.|
Jaguars | Tom Coughlin will have 'final say' Tue Jan 10, 12:45 AM
Updating a previous report, new Jacksonville Jaguars VP of Football Operations Tom Coughlin appears like he will have the 'final say on everything.'
|Footballguys view: First order of business in Jacksonville; get Blake Bortles back on track. After a breakout 2015 campaign, Bortles took a step back in 2016 and showed mechanical flaws that will need to be fixed. Second order of business for the Jaguars? Get an endless supply of Werther's Originals in Coughlin's office.|

Raiders | Matt McGloin wants chance to start Mon Jan 9, 07:43 PM
Oakland Raiders impending free-agent QB Matt McGloin said he will look to sign with a team that will allow him to compete for the starting quarterback job.
|Footballguys view: Don't be surprised to see the Houston Texans show interest. When Bill O'Brien was the head coach of Penn State, McGloin was his quarterback and looked good. In a quarterback-desperate league, there's a chance for McGloin to compete somewhere.|
Matt McGloin player page
Jaguars | Doug Marrone officially named head coach Mon Jan 9, 07:38 PM
Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars interim head coach Doug Marrone was officially named the Jaguars' permanent head coach Monday, Jan. 9.
|Footballguys view: Marrone failed as the head coach of the Bills in 2013 and 2014, but he did a good job in two games as interim coach of the Jaguars in 2016. His main project will be to revive the career of QB Blake Bortles. The Jaguars seemed to play better (against weak defenses) over the last two games with Marrone at the helm.|
Broncos | C.J. Anderson should be ready for camp Mon Jan 9, 07:29 PM
Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) has started running on a treadmill and believes he will be ready for the start of training camp.
|Footballguys view: Anderson could be ready for the start of OTAs later this year, but the Broncos may want to keep him limited or out during that time to improve his recovery. Nobody knows what the Broncos offense will look like in 2017 as they don't yet have a new head coach. No matter who is hired, Anderson should have a sizable role once again -- so long as he can stay healthy.|

Updating a previous item, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (ribs) needs to practice by Saturday, Jan. 14, or else he will not play this weekend, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
|Footballguys view: Things seem pretty bleak for Nelson right now. Keep an eye on his status later in the week. If Nelson can't play, the team would turn to undrafted rookie Geronimo Allison to do more.|

Panthers | Season to forget for Cam Newton Mon Jan 9, 07:01 PM
Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton tallied career lows in completion percentage (52.9) and passer rating (75.8) just one year after winning the NFL MVP. He also managed a career low in rush attempts (90) and rushing yards (359) and tied his career low in rushing touchdowns (5).
|Footballguys view: Newton struggled and the Panthers followed his lead. This season was a disaster just one year after representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. We'll see what changes the Panthers make to get more out of Newton and company in 2017.|

Bengals | No talks between Bengals, Kevin Zeitler Mon Jan 9, 06:56 PM
Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent OG Kevin Zeitler said his agent did not have any contract talks with the Bengals during the season but hopes to re-sign with the Bengals during the offseason.

Texans | Tom Savage cleared Mon Jan 9, 06:41 PM
Houston Texans QB Tom Savage (concussion) has been cleared from the concussion protocol and will be able to practice this week.
