Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (hand, wrist) suffered injuries to his right hand and wrist during the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, and did not return.

Patriots | New England adds Reggie Wayne Mon Aug 24, 01:15 PM
Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) agreed to a one-year deal with the New England Patriots Monday, Aug. 24, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Unless Reggie Wayne found the fountain of youth in the offseason, he's unlikely to have a lot of fantasy relevance this year in New England. The exception to that might be if Brandon LaFell is not in a position to contribute much this year. If Wayne steps into LaFell's role, he might not be the fantasy WR2 LaFell was once he got rolling last year, but Wayne should still have good value as depth or even a PPR WR3/Flex in good matchups.|

Browns | Josh McCown has sore finger Mon Aug 24, 11:39 AM
Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown (finger) has his right ring finger wrapped Monday, Aug. 24, due to soreness. He said it's fine.
|Footballguys view: Nothing to see here people. McCown is the lead quarterback for the Browns, but if (when?) he falters then we could see Johnny Manziel get a chance to start.|

Browns | Barkevious Mingo begins running Mon Aug 24, 11:13 AM

Packers | Reggie Wayne could take GB call Mon Aug 24, 10:12 AM
Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) could receive interest from the Green Bay Packers if WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is out for the season.
|Footballguys view: Wayne doesn't have a ton left in the tank, but he could provide valuable veteran depth for the Packers. He's taken a physical with the Patriots this week, but no agreement has been worked out. Wayne should be on board with a new team in the near future.|

Browns | Johnny Manziel not throwing Monday Mon Aug 24, 09:59 AM
Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel (elbow) is not throwing Monday, Aug. 24.
|Footballguys view: It sounds like the team is just giving him some rest here. He experienced elbow discomfort earlier this month too, so the Browns might give him a few days off. Mike Pettine said he doesn't "anticipate it being anything serious."|

Texans | Brian Hoyer named starter Mon Aug 24, 09:16 AM
Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer was named the starting quarterback for the 2015 season.
|Footballguys view: Awesome. Fantasy owners still aren't locked into this quarterback situation in Houston. This news isn't shocking given Ryan Mallett's play and skill set. If Hoyer struggles, the team could turn to Mallett or second-year pro Tom Savage. No matter how things unfold, this isn't a fantasy-relevant situation.|

Steelers | Maurkice Pouncey out eight weeks Mon Aug 24, 08:18 AM
Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (leg) is expected to miss eight or more weeks due to a fractured fibula just above his left ankle.
|Footballguys view: We could see the team tag Pouncey with I.R./Designated to Return label. His absence means the Steelers will turn to Cody Wallace at center. This isn't great news for the Steelers, but don't drastically alter where you rank Le'Veon Bell or any of the other skill position players. Bell is still a top-3 pick in fantasy drafts.|
Saints | Nick Toon could miss three weeks Mon Aug 24, 05:05 AM
New Orleans Saints WR Nick Toon (ankle) has a high ankle sprain and could miss as much as two to three weeks, according to sources.
|Footballguys view: Toon's entire pro career has been plagued by injuries. This latest injury isn't going to help his chances of making the team.|

Packers | Davante Adams next man up Mon Aug 24, 12:30 AM
If Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) misses the season, second-year WR Davante Adams will have an expanded role. He was already expected to have a larger role this year. 'I like where I'm at but I want to keep improving every week. I feel like I'm in a good position, and I want to keep working and elevating my game regardless,' Adams said.
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners are rushing to add Adams to their rosters. We should see Adams get a lot of the targets that Nelson did for this team last year (151). This makes him a WR2 with upside. Adams has a nose for the end zone, and he's got the body control to make acrobatic catches seem routine. His current ADP is WR30 (6.10) in 12-team PPR leagues--good luck getting him that low. Expect him to rise somewhere around WR20-WR25.|

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham productive Sunday Sun Aug 23, 11:40 PM
Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham had four catches on four targets for 40 yards in a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, Aug. 23.
|Footballguys view: Talent has never been a question with Green-Beckham. He came into college as the number one high school talent. Green-Beckham has off-field issues that caused him to fall in the draft. From a talent standpoint, Green-Beckham has top-10 upside and ability from this draft class. The titans will work him in as a reserve receiver to begin the season, but he's easily got the talent to start at some point as a rookie.|

Titans | David Cobb works with starters Sun Aug 23, 11:33 PM
Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb saw some work with the first-team offense in a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, Aug. 23, finishing with 26 yards on eight carries.
|Footballguys view: We'll see if Cobb can eventually replace Bishop Sankey as the starter for the Titans. We like Cobb's powerful running style and feel that he'd be more productive than Sankey. Cobb can grind down opponents as the game goes on, and he is tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam. This RB battle is worth keeping an eye on--especially for those looking for late-round RB punch on their fantasy team.|

Titans | Bishop Sankey solid Sunday Sun Aug 23, 11:22 PM
Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey had six carries for 45 yards in a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, Aug. 23.
|Footballguys view: We'll see if Sankey can hold off rookie David Cobb for the starting job. Sankey had a disappointing rookie season (3.7 yards per carry, only two rushing touchdowns), and finished 2014 as the 43rd fantasy running back. He's changed his physique this offseason in an effort to be more productive. Keep an eye on this RB battle. Sankey should begin the season as the starter, but he could be replaced by Cobb if he struggles.|

Packers | Ty Montgomery could see more work Sun Aug 23, 10:50 PM
Green Bay Packers rookie WR Ty Montgomery could play a larger role should the team be without WR Jordy Nelson (knee) this season.
|Footballguys view: The rookie from Stanford has an interesting skill set, and he's been a standout during training camp. Expect him to see a larger workload going forward. He had 16 drops over the last three years in college, so his concentration and route-running need to improve. Montgomery is all about making plays in the open field. After the catch, he has RB-like moves and agility to gash defenses.|

Titans | Marcus Mariota solid in second start Sun Aug 23, 09:49 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota completed five of his eight pass attempts for 59 yards in a preseason game against the St. Louis Rams Sunday, Aug. 23.
|Footballguys view: Mariota would have had an even better day if Dexter McCluster not dropped a touchdown pass. He's handling pressure well, and Mariota is going through progressions quickly. So far, so good for the rookie.|
Marcus Mariota player page
Cowboys | Short night for Tony Romo Sun Aug 23, 09:45 PM
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo played three snaps in a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 23, completing one pass.
|Footballguys view: That's a brief appearance, but it's not a big deal. We'll see more from Romo (four snaps?) in the dress rehearsal for the regular season. Week 3 of the preseason is always a time where starters play about a half.|

Falcons | Roddy White to have elbow surgery Sun Aug 23, 07:23 PM
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (elbow) will undergo a minor surgical procedure on his right elbow but is expected to be ready for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to head coach Dan Quinn.
|Footballguys view: Luckily, White has given us guidance on how to use him in fantasy lineups. If he doesn't practice before the Week 1 game, we shouldn't trust him in our lineups, despite the good matchup against Philadelphia. Preseason sensation Leonard Hankerson would likely get the call if White can't go.|

Cowboys | Joseph Randle won't suit up Sun Aug 23, 07:13 PM
Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) won't play in a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 23.
|Footballguys view: Randle practiced after aggravating the injury earlier this week, so it sounds like this is only precautionary and might even be a sign of the team treating him like an entrenched starter.|
Joseph Randle player page
Cowboys | Darren McFadden to start Sunday Sun Aug 23, 07:07 PM
Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden will start at running back in a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 23.
|Footballguys view: McFadden has been under the radar battling a hamstring injury for most of the preseason, but a strong performance tonight could be a shot across Joseph Randle's bow to have the upper hand in the Cowboys' backfield. Just staying healthy for the whole game will be good for his flagging ADP.|

Patriots | Two contenders in NE for third-down RB Sun Aug 23, 06:32 PM
New England Patriots RBs James White and Dion Lewis combined for 12 carries and 45 yards and added six catches for 56 yards.
|Footballguys view: The Patriots receiving back does not seem any clearer now than it did at the beginning of camp. If it's Brandon Bolden, Julian Edelman could benefit from a less polished passcatcher at the position. White and Lewis are niftier in space and better receivers than Bolden, but they still wouldn't have Shane Vereen's old fantasy value and potential even split the role.|

Jets | Jeremy Kerley could be in danger Sun Aug 23, 06:24 PM

Jets | Jace Amaro on hot seat? Sun Aug 23, 06:21 PM
New York Jets TE Jace Amaro may be on the hot seat, as he is listed as the third tight end on the official depth chart behind Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Davis.

Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon to make preseason debut Sun Aug 23, 04:48 PM

Steelers | Maurkice Pouncey to undergo surgery Sun Aug 23, 04:41 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey (ankle) will require surgery on his ankle, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. However, it is uncertain how much time he will miss.
|Footballguys view: The Steelers will hope for the best and likely put Pouncey on the IR-return, but don't be surprised if this broken ankle ends up sidelining him for the season. It takes a lot of the edge off of the upside of the Steelers offense this year, throwing the place of players like LeVeon Bell and Ben Roethlisberger in your rankings into question.|
Packers | T.J. Lang injured Sun Aug 23, 04:32 PM
Green Bay Packers OT T.J. Lang (head) was helped off the field during the second quarter of the team's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday, Aug. 23. He entered the locker room under his own power and was evaluated for a concussion.Link to story

Redskins | Robert Griffin to see neurologist Sun Aug 23, 04:11 PM
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (concussion) has been cleared for 'non-contact' activity in practice, according to head coach Jay Gruden. He has no effects of a concussion but is still scheduled to see a neurologist.
|Footballguys view: If Griffin has been cleared for "non contact" activity, but still is going to see a neurologist, we're not out of the woods on this concussion yet. Either way it feels like a matter of when, not if Griffin's tenure as Washington quarterback is over.|

Giants | Bennett Jackson out for season Sun Aug 23, 04:02 PM
New York Giants S Bennett Jackson (knee) has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the entire season, according to head coach Tom Coughlin.
|Footballguys view: The Giants are already down to street free agents at safety. Not that Jackson was a big part of their plans, but hopefully at some point the depletion at the position ends for them. Tony Romo and Dez Bryant will get to break in this secondary in Week 1.|
Packers | Jordy Nelson could have torn ACL Sun Aug 23, 03:22 PM

Packers | Jordy Nelson injury update Sun Aug 23, 02:53 PM
Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) suffered a knee injury during the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23.
|Footballguys view: Ian Rapoport of NFL.com is reporting a torn ACL is the initial diagnosis. The MRI is coming later, but we should proceed as if Nelson is out for the season. Davante Adams takes a big leap up our rankings, and players like Ty Montgomery and Jeff Janis will get a shot to play more in three wide sets. Myles White also has some experience with the team and could figure into the mix. Aaron Rodgers could also look to second-year TE Richard Rodgers more with Nelson out.|
