Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman rushed 14 times for 40 yards and caught three passes for 28 yards in a 26-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Jan. 6.
|Footballguys view: Coleman got quite a bit of work, and his speed always makes him a dangerous asset. He didn't do much as a runner, but when he gets the ball there's always a chance Coleman could take it to the house.|

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan completed 21 of his 30 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown in a 26-13 win over the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Jan. 6.
|Footballguys view: Ryan was under duress all night. He was hit seven times and sacked three times by the Rams defense. His stat line was mediocre at best, but he was careful with the ball and the Falcons advance to the Divisional Round.|

Rams | Robert Woods busy against Atlanta Sat Jan 6, 11:34 PM
Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods caught nine passes on 14 targets for 142 yards in a 26-13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Saturday, Jan. 6.
|Footballguys view: Woods was dialed in for the Rams playoff game. His connection with QB Jared Goff should only get stronger in 2018.|

Rams | Todd Gurley tops 100 yards in loss Sat Jan 6, 11:32 PM
Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley rushed 14 times for 101 yards and caught four passes for 10 yards in a 26-13 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Saturday, Jan. 6.
|Footballguys view: Gurley did his part but it wasn't enough to get the win. The Rams got Gurley back on track this season, and he should be in line for similar production in 2018. That makes Gurley easily a first-round lock in fantasy drafts, and he could go no1 overall with his upside.|

Seahawks | Mixed results for Jimmy Graham Sat Jan 6, 11:05 PM
Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham led all tight ends with 10 touchdown receptions in 2017, but his 520 receiving yards were his fewest since his rookie season and his 9.1 yards per reception were the lowest of his career.
|Footballguys view: Graham's career with the Seahawks has been a real up-and-down time. He enters free agency as a one-dimensional player, but that one part of his game (his receiving ability) can be among the best in the NFL.|

Lions | Matt Patricia headed to Detroit? Sat Jan 6, 09:56 PM
The New England Patriots are expecting defensive coordinator Matt Patricia to leave to become the next head coach of the Detroit Lions, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
|Footballguys view: Patricia seems to be the primary target for the Lions, and he has been ever since they opened up their head coaching search. He can't be officially hired until the Patriots are done in the playoffs.|
Raiders | Jon Gruden officially headed to Oakland Sat Jan 6, 09:52 PM
The Oakland Raiders announced Jon Gruden as their new head coach Saturday, Jan. 6.
|Footballguys view: Gruden's new deal with the Raiders is worth "about $100 million" over 10 seasons according to Schefter's report. His return to the coaching ranks comes with a lot of excitement, and Gruden takes over a Raiders roster that has plenty of talented players on both sides of the ball. His deal would make him the highest paid coach in NFL history, and the Raiders should hold an introductory press conference on Tuesday.|

NFL | Lamar Jackson has rare skills Sat Jan 6, 09:32 PM
Louisville QB Lamar Jackson's combination of skills is usually only found in 'create-a-player' mode in video games, according to an AFC scout.
|Footballguys view: That's a great way to describe Jackson's skill set. Many scouts just say that Jackson is a right-handed version of Michael Vick...and that comparison may not be too outlandish.|
NFL | Jordan Akins is NFL bound Sat Jan 6, 09:25 PM
Central Florida TE Jordan Akins declared for the 2018 NFL Draft Saturday, Jan. 6.
|Footballguys view: A high school quarterback, Akins was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 2010 MLB draft. When he started playing for UCF he was a starting wide receiver and return man. He transitioned to tight end and takes that WR skill set to his new position. Akins can create mismatches when he's on the field and is currently seen as a mid-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft.|
NFL | Tre'Quan Smith headed to the draft Sat Jan 6, 09:21 PM
Central Florida WR Tre'Quan Smith will forgo his final year of collegiate eligibility and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: Smith finishes his college career as one of the most productive WRs in UCF history. In 2017, Smith had 54 catches for 1,082 yards and 13 touchdowns. At 6'1" 210 pounds, Smith can make acrobatic catches seem routine. He was a key player for UCF as they finished the 2017 season as the only undefeated team among FBS competitors.|
NFL | Auden Tate to enter draft Sat Jan 6, 09:17 PM
Florida State WR Auden Tate announced via social media that he will forgo his senior season and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: Tate is a huge target, measuring in at 6'5" 225 pounds. His size advantage makes him difficult for smaller cornerbacks to deal with...especially in the red zone. Tate's stats in 2017 weren't great (40 catches for 548 yards), but he worked with a backup quarterback situation with the Seminoles and still snared 10 touchdown grabs this season. He has a second-round grade but might sneak his way into the first round.|

Chiefs | Travis Kelce solid before injury Sat Jan 6, 08:36 PM
Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) caught all four of his targeted passes for 66 yards and a touchdown during the Wild Card game Saturday, Jan. 6, against the Tennessee Titans. Kelce would leave the game and enter concussion protocol.
|Footballguys view: Kelce's exit led the Chiefs to their downfall. Once he was out of the game, the Chiefs passing attack looked totally different and couldn't do too much. Kelce suffered two concussions this season (one early in the regular season, one in the Wild Card game) and that's something to monitor going forward. With no setbacks, Kelce should easily be ready for OTAs later this spring.|

Chiefs | Kareem Hunt scores TD in Wild Card round Sat Jan 6, 08:24 PM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt ran 11 times for 42 yards and scored a touchdown in his team's 22-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Wild Card action.
|Footballguys view: The Chiefs led 21-3 at halftime but barely used the NFL's leading rusher. It's a shame that we won't get to see more of Hunt in the postseason. Expect him to be the centerpiece of the Chiefs offense in 2018, likely with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.|

Chiefs | Alex Smith throws two TDs in Wild Card loss Sat Jan 6, 08:14 PM
Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith went 24-for-33 for 264 yards and two touchdowns in a Wild Card loss to the Tennessee Titans.
|Footballguys view: Only 33 of those passing yards came in the second half. Once TE Travis Kelce (concussion) was knocked out of the game, Smith couldn't do much through the air. On fourth down looking to get into field goal range, Smith took a deep shot to WR Albert Wilson that fell to the ground incomplete. That will likely go down as his final pass with the Chiefs. Reports indicate the Chiefs will be open to trading Smith away. When they trade Smith, that opens the door for 2017 first-round pick Patrick Mahomes to take over as starter.|

Titans | Derrick Henry has monster performance Sat Jan 6, 08:02 PM
Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card playoff game Saturday, Jan. 6. He also caught two passes for 35 yards during the game.
|Footballguys view: Henry was the engine to the offense. With Demarco Murray banged up, the Titans should just continue to use Henry as their battering ram on offense. The Chiefs were often powerless to stop Henry, especially late with the game on the line.|

Titans | Marcus Mariota accounts for two TDs Sat Jan 6, 07:10 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota went 19-for-31 for 205 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card playoff game Saturday, Jan. 6. One of Mariota's touchdown throws was a deflected pass that he caught and ran into the end zone. Mariota also rushed for 46 yards on eight carries during the game.
|Footballguys view: Mariota's athleticism was difficult for the Chiefs to keep up with. He did a good job of making throws under pressure, and the TD pass he threw to himself (essentially) was a great heads up play. His play is a big reason why the Titans advance to the Divisional Round.|

Cowboys | Kellen Moore to be Cowboys QB coach? Sat Jan 6, 07:10 PM
Dallas Cowboys QB Kellen Moore is expected to retire from professional football and become the Cowboys new quarterbacks coach, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Undrafted out of Boise State in 2012, Moore has been with the Cowboys since 2015. He's bounced on and off their practice squad and now finds his way to the coaching staff. Moore is a bright mind for offensive football and is a good hire for the Cowboys.|

Ravens | Tim White should be ready for workouts Sat Jan 6, 04:24 PM
Baltimore Ravens WR Tim White (thumb) should be ready for the start of offseason workouts, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
|Footballguys view: White is a player we're monitoring in dynasty leagues. Undrafted out of Arizona State in 2017, White was one of the biggest playmakers in Ravens training camp when he was healthy. He's a slot receiver, but he's got the speed to get by defenders deep and the quickness to create separation before and after the catch.|
