Titans | Marcus Mariota to work on deal Sun May 17, 01:58 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota is scheduled to begin contract talks with the team Monday, May 18, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: With a rookie salary cap in place, first-round deals rarely hit any snags in the negotiation process. The Titans are happy to have Mariota as their franchise quarterback, and we don't foresee much if any problems getting him signed to his first deal.|
Broncos | Shane Ray may practice Monday Sun May 17, 10:25 AM
Denver Broncos DE Shane Ray (toe) may be able to participate in some of the drills during practice Monday, May 18, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.
|Footballguys view: The Broncos will take it easy on Ray as he continues to deal with turf toe. The injury did not require surgery, but it can linger if not given the proper amount of time to heal. They moved up in the first round to select Ray, and he should play as a part-time pass-rusher at outside linebacker behind stars Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware.|
Patriots | Tom Brady taking part in workouts Sun May 17, 09:45 AM
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has not missed any of the workouts this offseason.
|Footballguys view: He's only suspended for the time being. The suspension is being appealed, and we may see Brady's sentence reduced to just a couple of games or zero games. There's no need for him to be skipping workouts.|

Broncos | Cody Latimer to play on outside Sat May 16, 11:45 PM
Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer will step in as an outside receiver when the team uses three-receiver sets this year.
|Footballguys view: This move was anticipated ever since the Broncos moved up to draft Latimer in the second round last year. Emmanuel Sanders can move back inside to his more natural position in the slot, and Latimer can be a force on the outside. Latimer has a large wingspan, great leaping ability and he can be dominant at the point of the catch. This offense under Gary Kubiak won't utilize three wide receivers that often, so make sure to temper your expectations for the talented second-year wide receiver.|

Redskins | Matt Jones shows versatility Sat May 16, 09:59 PM
Washington Redskins RB Matt Jones ran crisp routes and showed good hands out of the backfield during rookie minicamp.
|Footballguys view: Jones was used sparingly as a receiver in college at Florida with only 19 receptions over three years. He did flash the ability to snare passes quickly, secure them cleanly and get upfield smoothly. Apparently, he's getting more of a chance to showcase that skillset in rookie minicamp.|
Browns | Johnny Manziel intends to start Sat May 16, 07:37 PM
Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel intends to be the team's 2015 starter, according to teammate CB Joe Haden. 'He's a competitor. I think it's all about competition. We have Josh McCown. We have Johnny. We have (Connor) Shaw. All those guys. Just all of them feel like they can win the starting job,' said Haden.
|Footballguys view: We love the confidence, but we have serious questions about Manziel's ability to play at the pro level. He's a running quarterback--and that always has fantasy value--but he needs to prove that he can decipher defenses as he's dropping back. Manziel looked horrible as a rookie, and the team may be moving on from him as their potential franchise quarterback. He has a long way to go before he's even a halfway decent starter.|

Eagles | Mark Sanchez could be best option for PHI Sat May 16, 07:26 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez could be the team's best bet for a starting quarterback. Sanchez went 4-4 after taking over as the starter last season, and finished the campaign with a career best 64.1 completion percentage. Sanchez has played all but one game during his six-year career, showing health that's lacked by the Eagles' other options.
|Footballguys view: Sanchez is a decent starter in this offense, and he may prove to be a better (healthier) option than Sam Bradford. We like Bradford's accuracy and anticipation as a passer, but his pro career has been plagued by numerous severe injuries. We'll see how this shakes out in training camp. The Eagles starting quarterback is fantasy relevant, but at varying levels depending on who wins the job.|

Cowboys | Joseph Randle needs team's trust Sat May 16, 07:24 PM
Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle has the skills to lead the team's backfield in 2015 but he'll need to work on his off-field issues, according to Jon Machota of SportsDayDFW.com. Randle will need to prove to his coaches he can stay out of trouble and be relied on every week.
|Footballguys view: Randle has good speed to attack a defense, and he may have an opportunity to prove himself with a larger role in 2015. Veteran Darren McFadden can be penciled in as the team's starter right now, but his injury history reads like Infinite Jest. If McFadden is hurt again, Randle could step in to start and produce RB1 numbers because of that incredible offensive line. Keep an eye on Randle on and off the field during training camp.|

Ravens | Dennis Pitta likely to start on PUP Sat May 16, 07:06 PM
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) will likely begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
|Footballguys view: No surprise here. Pitta's hip injury could be career-ending, but he's working on the road to recovery at this time. The Ravens aren't counting on him, and that's why they drafted Maxx Williams in the 2015 NFL draft.|

Redskins | WAS invites two QBs to minicamp Sat May 16, 03:38 PM
The Washington Redskins have invited undrafted free-agent QBs Huston Mason (Georgia) and Anthony Neyer (Southern California) to participate in the team's rookie minicamp this weekend on a tryout basis.
|Footballguys view: Mason is nothing more than a camp arm in our eyes. Neyer on the other hand is kind of interesting in a Matt Cassel sort of way. During his senior season at USC (after walking onto the football team), he played in just one game, rushing twice for five yards. Neither are likely to do much of anything at the pro level.|
Redskins | Connor Halliday retires Sat May 16, 03:30 PM
Washington Redskins QB Connor Halliday has announced his retirement.
|Footballguys view: We just hated to see Halliday suffer season-ending and career-threatening leg injuries last year. In college at Washington State he was a prolific passer, throwing for a school-record 11,304 yards -- along with 90 touchdown passes in 35 games. He was an interesting undrafted quarterback to keep an eye on in super deep dynasty leagues, but he chose to lead his life in a different direction.|
Cardinals | David Johnson praised by HC Sat May 16, 01:51 PM
Arizona Cardinals rookie RB David Johnson was recently lauded by head coach Bruce Arians. '[He's] very, very bright. The kid can do anything as far as a wide receiver, running back, full back,' Arians said. 'He will find a niche quick because he can learn so much.'
|Footballguys view: Johnson should work well as a power complementary back behind Andre Ellington. He's a swift runner with a determined style. There's not a lot of nuance to his game, but Johnson can be counted on when tough yards are needed.|
Broncos | Trevor Siemian signs deal Sat May 16, 11:00 AM
Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian signed a four-year contract with the team Friday, May 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: We have no idea why the Broncos would draft Siemian. His film at Northwestern was bad, and he had trouble staying in the starting lineup as a collegian. His throwing motion is a 3/4 release, and he struggles with accuracy on passes 10 yards or more downfield. He'll be on the practice squad this year for Denver, but they could also put him on season-ending Injured Reserve as he's still recovering from a knee injury he suffered last year.|
Browns | Randall Telfer may not play in 2015 Sat May 16, 10:49 AM
Cleveland Browns TE Randall Telfer (foot) is recovering from foot surgery, and the team is not sure if he will be able to play in 2015. Head coach Mike Pettine said there is a chance Telfer could play near the end of the season.
|Footballguys view: Look for him to either be put on season-ending Injured Reserve or on the PUP list to begin the season. Even when healthy, Telfer is not a fantasy factor as he's mainly a run-blocking tight end.|
Browns | Phil Taylor should be ready for camp Sat May 16, 10:45 AM
Cleveland Browns DT Phil Taylor (knee) said he expects to be ready for the start of training camp. Taylor said he should be able to do some things during the upcoming minicamp.
|Footballguys view: We've always had an appreciation for the player Taylor is and could be....but injuries have taken his career off track. The Browns gave themselves fantastic depth (and a potential star) at the position when they selected Danny Shelton (Washington) in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft.|

Ravens | Dennis Pitta optimistic Sat May 16, 10:40 AM
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) said he is feeling good and is optimistic about playing in 2015. He has been participating in offseason workouts and is allowed to run and cut. Pitta has also been running routes and catching patches during practice.
|Footballguys view: We're not as optimistic about Pitta's return. The hip problem he has could be career-threatening, and the Ravens have prepared for a future without him by selecting Maxx Williams in the 2015 NFL draft. Fantasy owners should not be expecting a comeback here, but make sure to watch his progress.|

Jaguars | Rashad Greene to work out of slot Sat May 16, 12:35 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Rashad Greene has looked smooth in rookie minicamp and is expected to be used out of the slot when the Jaguars use three- or four-receiver sets.
|Footballguys view: With Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson on the outsides, Greene would make a fine slot receiver. The rookie from Florida State has incredible concentration when running routes over the middle, and he's got the body control to work near the sidelines as well. He's competitive and has good quickness out of his breaks.|
Jaguars | T.J. Yeldon to be feature back? Fri May 15, 10:17 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB T.J. Yeldon will likely win the starting job and be the feature back in 2015, according to ESPN.com's Michael DiRocco.
|Footballguys view: Why is this a question? We feel Yeldon should be the Jaguars featured back because he's talented and he's got the best skill set to take on a heavy workload. Denard Robinson proved last year that he could make some plays out of the backfield, but his size limits him to being a change-of-pace player. Toby Gerhart washed out quickly as a running back in Jacksonville, and he's going to be used more as a fullback or H-back in 2015. Yeldon is a big back with good feet. While not a true power player, he does build up some pop at the point of attack when he gets past the line of scrimmage.|
Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham connecting with QB Fri May 15, 09:58 PM
Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham said he sent a text to QB Marcus Mariota right after he was drafted and is trying to become close with the quarterback in a hurry. 'I told him, every time you're in the weight room, make sure you bring me,' Green-Beckham said.
|Footballguys view: Great news here. We always take the minicamp news with a grain of salt, but this is the type of thing you like to hear. Green-Beckham has incredible upside, and he could be the steal of the draft if he stays out of trouble and plays up to his potential. Mariota is rough around the edges as a pro passer. While athletic and talented, Mariota could use all the help he could get adjusting to the pro game. We're excited to see what this rookie duo can do...both this year and in the future.|
Chargers | Melvin Gordon impresses at minicamp Fri May 15, 09:43 PM
San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon impressed in his first day of rookie minicamp Friday, May 15, making quick decisions at the line of scrimmage and showing good burst when he reached the second level.
|Footballguys view: Gordon basically looks like he did in college. He's the best running back to come out of Wisconsin (sorry Ron Dayne), and Gordon can step in immediately for the Chargers as a starter. Fantasy owners--and DFS players--should love his big-play ability. His current ADP is RB26 (5.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Titans | Marcus Mariota comfortable under center Fri May 15, 09:14 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota said it was different being under center for the first time during rookie minicamp Friday, May 15, but added that he already feels comfortable in the offense.
|Footballguys view: We'll see it when we believe it. With less than 10 snaps from under center during his college career at Oregon, Mariota has a lot to prove in that area. It's not just the simple act of taking the snap either. Mariota has to prove that he can diagnose a defense, go through his progressions and anticipate pressure all while dropping back. We like his talent, but he has a long way to go before he's a decent starter in this league.|
49ers | Arik Armstead signs deal Fri May 15, 07:52 PM
San Francisco 49ers DE Arik Armstead signed a four-year deal with the team Friday, May 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Armstead is considered to have as high, if not a higher ceiling than #6 overall pick Leonard Williams, but he also showed inconsistency in effort and effecitiveness at Oregon. He's more of a project than a typical first-round pick.|
Bills | Matt Cassel to be backup? Fri May 15, 07:32 PM
Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel is likely to enter Week 1 of the season as the team's backup quarterback, in the opinion of The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci. He also thinks head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman are open-minded about QB EJ Manuel and will give him a fair shot to compete for a starting job this summer. If Cassel or QB Tyrod Taylor win the starting job, the Bills would be expected to trade Manuel before outright cutting him.
|Footballguys view: Manuel certainly has more upside than Cassel, even though he also has a much lower floor. The Bills know what Cassel is, but Manuel could be better if Roman can leverage his running ability and put him in a position to succeed as he did with Colin Kaepernick earlier in his career. Taylor is also a running QB and shouldn't be dismissed if this truly is an open competition, only because of the quality of his competition.|

Titans | Marcus Mariota looking good so far Fri May 15, 07:19 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota survived his first rookie minicamp and impressed the coaches with his understanding of the playbook, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Whisenhunt also doesn't think Mariota's smaller size will create a problem with him taking snaps under center after he participated in a spread offense in his college career. 'I don't see that as a problem,' Whisenhunt said of Mariota lining up under center. 'He's put a lot of work in. He seems pretty good. I mean, until we get into a game and you get the A-gap blitzers in there or people are pressuring, you don't know how they are going to handle it.'
|Footballguys view: Mariota is ticketed to start, and his running ability could give him streaming and DFS appeal if he isn't overwhelmed early in his career.|
49ers | No plans to sign Lance Briggs Fri May 15, 07:19 PM
Free-agent LB Lance Briggs (Bears) has drawn interest from the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, but the 49ers have no immediate plans to sign the veteran with LB NaVorro Bowman (knee) looking great in his recovery from a serious knee injury.Link to story

49ers | NaVorro Bowman looking great Fri May 15, 07:09 PM
San Francisco 49ers LB NaVorro Bowman (knee) has made a strong return to the practice field in early workouts after missing all of last year with a knee injury. Bowman has been able to take part in all workouts from the team's first offseason practice. 'Bowman's looking great,' head coach Jim Tomsula said. 'Bow looks great. I'd say we're more treating Bow like a vet than we're treating Bow like a post-injury guy right now.' Bowman and LB Michael Wilhoite are projected to be the starting inside linebackers.
|Footballguys view: Bowman is one of the last holdovers from the defense that went to the Super Bowl, and the 49ers are going to need him to play like his old self to avoid the cellar in the NFC West. He's a boom/bust IDP LB right now in both redraft and dynasty, but lots of tackle opportunity should be there.|

NFL | Santana Moss not ready to retire Fri May 15, 07:07 PM
Free-agent WR Santana Moss (Redskins) is not ready to hang up his cleats and retire this offseason. 'I'm a free agent right now, you know how they do us old guys,' Moss said. 'I'm going on my 15th year. Right now my agent is talking with some teams to see what's going to be my best scenario. Right now I'm just chilling, just enjoying life, and enjoying this off time.' The Washington Redskins are unlikely to re-sign him, though, after drafting two wide receivers late in this year's draft.Link to story

Titans | Zach Mettenberger in better shape Fri May 15, 06:45 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger, who plans to put up a fight for the starting quarterback job with QB Marcus Mariota this summer, said the offseason has treated him well, and he's down to 225 pounds. 'Moving a lot quicker, no longer worried about my knee which is a great feeling. But I loved getting a chance to hang out with guys outside of the facility. It was an eye-opening experience to learn what these guys are about,' Mettenberger said.
|Footballguys view: Mettenberger seems to highly competitive, which is good for the Titans. It should push rookie Marcus Mariota even though he has already been anointed by the staff. Mettenberger could increase his trade value, or make the Titans more likely to turn to him if Mariota looks like he is in over his head this summer.|
Chiefs | Marcus Peters signed Fri May 15, 06:22 PM
Kansas City Chiefs CB Marcus Peters signed a four-year deal with the team Friday, May 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Peters had a falling out with coaches at Washington, but most stories about him pre-draft said he is a good teammate. Andy Reid has plenty of experience with different personalities and should help Peters fit in as a rookie. He's a massive upgrade to the Chiefs cornerback position long term.|
Steelers | Sammie Coates signs deal Fri May 15, 03:59 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Sammie Coates signed a four-year deal with the team Friday, May 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Coates will start out as a role player, but he could team up with Martavis Bryant to give the Steelers twin rockets outside, stretching defenses to their limit. He's got the speed and thick, long build, but Coates needs to be more consistent catching the ball and improve his craft to tap into his vast potential. He'll be a boom/bust pro.|
Browns | Cameron Erving agrees to terms Fri May 15, 03:59 PM
Cleveland Browns C Cameron Erving has agreed to terms with the team Friday, May 15, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Erving's best position is also one the Browns have stocked with the best in the NFL, Alex Mack. He won't play center right away, but Mack can void his contract next year. In the meantime, look for Erving at guard or right tackle, even though it is not where he shines.|
Redskins | RG III's benching meant to send message Fri May 15, 12:23 PM
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III was benched last season, in part, to set him up to succeed in 2015. The team wanted him to lose his sense of entitlement to his opportunities.
|Footballguys view: It's do or die for Griffin, and Washington really has no other options they can expect to perform well if Griffin fails. Alfred Morris and DeSean Jackson are on shaky ground with respect to the quality of their surrounding offense.|
Robert Griffin III player page
Titans | Defense will test Marcus Mariota Fri May 15, 12:13 PM
Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota will be tested by his defense in training camp as assistant head coach Dick LeBeau is under direction to throw everything at the rookie that he can. All indications are that Mariota will have to fail miserably to lose the starting job in the preseason.
|Footballguys view: Mariota is making a big transition from the Oregon offense to the NFL, but Lebeau has been a master of inventive blitzes and often made some of the most experienced QBs in the NFL look disoriented. Mariota could end up being fantasy relevant this year if the Titans rely on him as a runner, and early word is that they are incorporating some elements of the Oregon offense that did just that.|
Browns | Coach not on board with Johnny Manziel Fri May 15, 11:57 AM
Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel has turned off head coach Mike Pettine, while general manager Ray Farmer, owner Jimmy Haslam and offensive coordinator John DeFilippo believe Manziel can be salvaged, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: That sounds in line with Pettine's no nonsense style and attitude. At least one of Farmer and Haslam was pushing for Manziel, so their continued hope makes sense, and DeFilippo was just hired by them, so his support makes sense. Manziel has a high fantasy ceiling as a running QB if he can win the job, that is a long ways away.|
Johnny Manziel player page
Panthers | Devin Funchess being moved around Fri May 15, 12:36 AM
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess has played all three receiver positions during minicamp.
|Footballguys view: Funchess was considered a WR/TE tweener, although a pure receiving TE a la Ladarius Green. He could get snaps all over the offensive formation, and he'll do most of his damage on short and intermediate stuff. He's more of a danger to Greg Olsen's fantasy value than Kelvin Benjamin's.|
Patriots | Commissioner to hear Tom Brady's appeal Thu May 14, 11:18 PM
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension will be presided over by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, a league spokesman confirmed Thursday, May 14.
|Footballguys view: This is a bit out of the ordinary and shows the odd nature of the NFL appeal system, where the body that handed down the original punishment decides whether it was too harsh. There is at least some chance that Brady's suspension is reduced or eliminated altogether, but the Patriots response and attempt to show up the league could hurt his chances.|

Chargers | Melvin Gordon expected to be in camp Thu May 14, 11:05 PM
San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon is expected to participate in rookie minicamp that begins Friday, May 15, even though he has not signed a contract.
|Footballguys view: Gordon actually ended up signing his rookie deal before rookie minicamp opened, but the Jaguars willingness to sign Dante Fowler to his full rookie deal at #3 overall even though he tore his ACL should be taken as a good faith sign that teams will honor first-round pick terms even if injuries happen before they are signed.|
NFL | Steven Jackson wants to play for winner Thu May 14, 10:51 PM
Free-agent RB Steven Jackson (Falcons) said he would like to keep playing but will only do so for a contender. 'I want to be part of a winning team because when I do hang up my cleats, I can see a lot of people holding that over my head when a lot of it was out of my control,' Jackson said.
|Footballguys view: Jackson's fantasy value dwindled last year, but if a high-powered offense like New England or high-powered running game like Dallas brings him in, he could have fantasy relevance for one more year.|
Steven Jackson player page
Eagles | Sam Bradford perfect for Philadelphia? Thu May 14, 10:34 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is a perfect fit for Chip Kelly's offense because he can make all the throws with a 'top-notch' arm, is a 'better athlete than people think' and operates best out of a no-huddle attack, according to New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.
|Footballguys view: Bradford definitely has the mental acumen, quick setup/release, and short-range accuracy to run the Eagles pass offense well. The bigger question is how he'll look after a long layoff from football that reportedly included a deliberation about retirement. The Eagles offense under Chip Kelly has routinely gotten QB1 numbers out of worse talents, so health is the key to Bradford's value this year. He could end up being one of the best late round QB picks of fantasy drafts and has a very easy start to his career.|

Ravens | Breshad Perriman making impression Thu May 14, 07:51 PM
Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman is already being lauded by QB Joe Flacco. 'He looks really good. He looks big, powerful, runs well,' Flacco said. 'He looks like he has big, strong hands. He snatches the ball out of the air.'
|Footballguys view: Perriman was plagued by drops at Central Florida, so let's slow our roll until we see him against some cornerbacks with some contact. Yes he snatches the ball out of the air, but he dropped a lot of those balls afterwards when corners got involved. Right now his ADP is 12.06, and he has a good quarterback who needs a playmaker in Joe Flacco. We just need to see him under live fire.|
Cowboys | Jerry Jones confident in run game Thu May 14, 07:41 PM
Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones expressed confidence in the team's overall run game Thursday, May 14. "You say the entire running game, and that would be including our tight ends, including our fullback - the entire game - we're better," Jones said. The Cowboys have yet to determine roles for their running backs. As it stands, RB Darren McFadden is at the top of the depth chart, with RBs Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Ryan Williams in the mix.
|Footballguys view: Darren McFadden is constantly hurt, and his fifth round ADP shows a general distrust by owners so far. Consider that this is a fifth round pick behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Joseph Randle is going in the late ninth round, while Ryan Williams is a common pick late in round 12. Lance Dunbar is hanging on with an ADP of round 14. All this goes to show is that nobody has much faith that this will be productive for all the backs and are cautious about McFadden and his injury issues.|

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell fine with ban Thu May 14, 07:22 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said Thursday, May 14, that he didn't have a problem with his three-game suspension for being charged with possession of marijuana and driving under the influence. 'I made a mistake,' Bell said. 'I'm going to just have to do my time, whatever the final decision may be. Get past it, and get ready for next season and continuing to be the great football player I know I can be.'
|Footballguys view: It will be interesting to see how the Steelers deal with his absence and whether Deangelo Williams can be productive, as he just hadn't been for the Carolina Panthers in some time. Bell remains a high ADP choice, close to the top of the first round, while Williams is only at an ADP of 11.09, even with those first three games.|

Titans | Dorial Green-Beckham lauded by former HC Thu May 14, 06:40 PM
Tennessee Titans WR Dorial Green-Beckham has grown up and is ready to take the NFL by storm, according to Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops. 'A lot of times, through different circumstances, young people learn from mistakes, and I felt like he did,' Stoops said. 'There's a maturing process... and I believe Dorial has grown. [He] has so much going for him. I think he is going to have a super career in the NFL.'
|Footballguys view: Well, we'll see what we see. It's easy to say that when he's not your issue anymore and one might say that constant indulgence and overlooking of his issues led him to his many red flags. He's not a safe pick in the first round of rookie drafts, but his upside makes him someone worth looking at in the second. It's too early to tell where he'll fit in for redraft purposes.|
Titans | David Cobb gains tough yards Thu May 14, 06:19 PM
Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb gained 54% of his yardage during the past two seasons after the initial contact, per Cobb's NFL.com draft profile. According to cfbstats.com, Cobb picked up 19 first downs on 31 third down touches last season. Cobb was given the ball 17 times with one-to-three yards to go and picked up 12 first downs.
|Footballguys view: He's a bit of a bowling ball and should be able to get used in short yardage and goal line situations. We still don't know how he'll be used behind Bishop Sankey and Shonn Greene but as neither of those two are monsters, there is room for Cobb to have impact with a solid camp.|
Jets | Marcus Gilchrist had offseason scope Thu May 14, 06:12 PM
New York Jets SS Marcus Gilchrist (shoulder) had a scope performed following the 2014 season. Gilchrist wouldn't confirm what the purpose of the scope was Thursday, May 14, but he said something 'needed to be fixed.' Gilchrist has been limited so far in camp.
|Footballguys view: We'll see if he's still hampered when training camp comes along. The only other strong safety on the roster is Jaiquawn Jarrett, so getting Gilchrist back is a priority.|

Steelers | Bud Dupree's terms Thu May 14, 06:10 PM
Updating a previous story, Pittsburgh Steelers LB Bud Dupree's rookie contract is for four years and $9.22 million, with a $4.96 million signing bonus. The Steelers have a team option for the fifth year.
|Footballguys view: Dupree fills the role of pass rusher on a team which needs them. It's added bonus that Dupree adds youth to what they have on the roster already.|
Steelers | Sign Bud Dupree Thu May 14, 05:41 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers LB Bud Dupree signed his four-year rookie deal Thursday, May 14. Financial terms were undisclosed.
|Footballguys view: The Steelers were looking for some linebacker help and they got it in a big way with the talented Dupree. This defense is in transition a little due to age, but adding Dupree and a few other key players in the draft was a good start.|
Bills | Karlos Williams signs Thu May 14, 05:34 PM
Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams signed his four-year rookie deal Thursday, May 14. Financial terms were undisclosed.
|Footballguys view: Williams has a very physical running style and could fit into the Bills run-heavy scheme very well. He's a one-cut, downhill runner with some red flags both from a football and character standpoint. The Bills won't depend on him this season unless LeSean McCoy and/or Fred Jackson go down.|
Seahawks | Robert Turbin had surgery Thu May 14, 05:23 PM
Seattle Seahawks RB Robert Turbin (hip) underwent hip surgery this offseason, according to sources. No timetable was disclosed for his recovery.
|Footballguys view: Turbin hasn't really shown much yet. Marshawn Lynch seems to be staying another year, and there's no telling if either Turbin or Christine Michael are a replacement for him together or separately. Michael has an ADP of RB70 (13.11) in 12-team PPR leagues, while Turbin is undrafted in those re-draft leagues.|

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson will return kicks in 2015, according to general manager David Caldwell.
|Footballguys view: Robinson flashed some playmaking ability last year, but he lacks the size to be a bellcow back at the pro level. That's why the Jaguars went out and selected T.J. Yeldon in the 2015 NFL draft. We should see Yeldon as the lead back and Robinson as the change-of-pace back. Yeldon has a current ADP of RB40 (8.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
