Ravens | Joe Flacco will continue to wear brace Wed Apr 19, 02:53 PM
Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco said he will continue to wear a knee brace in order to protect his surgically repaired knee.
|Footballguys view: Flacco must be comfortable with the device, and if that's the case then it's no worries going forward. The Ravens need to add more weapons and better receivers around him in the passing game. He's a QB2 for fantasy owners in 2017.|

Browns | Cleveland unlikely to acquire veteran QB Wed Apr 19, 02:42 PM
Cleveland Browns executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown said the team does not plan on trading for a veteran quarterback during the 2017 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: The Browns already have Brock Osweiler, even if his spot on the 53-man roster is up in the air. They'll be looking for a rookie quarterback who can be groomed as the starter. The Browns are a long way from being a competitor but they've assembled a great offensive line and that's a good start.|
Texans | Houston meeting with Brad Kaaya Wed Apr 19, 02:33 PM
Miami (Fla.) QB Brad Kaaya is meeting with the Houston Texans Wednesday, April 19.
|Footballguys view: The Texans are looking for a rookie quarterback, and the buzz is they really want Patrick Mahomes (Texas Tech). If they can't get him in the first round, then perhaps someone like Kaaya would be an option in the second. Kaaya is good from the pocket and he can throw with touch. His deep passes sail, and he'll need to make better decisions as a thrower outside the pocket to be a good pro.|

Lions | Takkarist McKinley meets with Detroit Wed Apr 19, 02:14 PM
UCLA DE/LB Takkarist McKinley met with the Detroit Lions earlier this week, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Length and hustle is the name of McKinley's game. He reminds some in the scouting community of Tamba Hali (Chiefs) because of his length and strength on the edge. McKinley needs to learn how to use his hands better, but his burst to the quarterback makes him someone to be feared when rushing the passer.|
Ravens | Baltimore meeting with two defensive prospects Wed Apr 19, 02:13 PM
Kansas State DE Jordan Willis met with the Baltimore Ravens Tuesday, April 18, and the Ravens are scheduled to meet with Houston LB Tyus Bowser Wednesday, April 19.
|Footballguys view: Willis is one of our favorite players in this draft class. He's incredibly smart and does a good job of diagnosing plays as they unfold in front of him. Willis plays to the echo of the whistle and is known as a leader in the locker room.|
Browns | Brock Osweiler to compete for starting job Wed Apr 19, 01:33 PM
Cleveland Browns QB Brock Osweiler will compete for the starting job in camp, according to executive vice president Sashi Brown.
|Footballguys view: That's what they say right now, but there's still a good chance that Osweiler is traded or released before training camp starts. He's reported to voluntary workouts and the team is treating him like he could actually have a spot on the 53-man roster...for now.|

Chicago Bears DE/LB Lamarr Houston (knee) has no guaranteed money left in the fourth year of his five-year, $35 million contract and is recovering from his second torn ACL in three seasons - both facts make him a possible candidate to be released this summer, according to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs.Link to story

NFL | Nathan Peterman the most pro-ready QB? Wed Apr 19, 12:04 PM
Pittsburgh QB Nathan Peterman is the most NFL-ready quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Jon Gruden.
|Footballguys view: Peterman has been pegged as this year's version of Dak Prescott. He's not Prescott, but Peterman is likely to be a mid-round guy (maybe as high as the second round) who has the upside to be a quality starter. Peterman challenges defenses, and he uses his eyes to quickly scan the field. He'll make defenders bite with play fakes and pump fakes, plus Peterman anticipates well as a thrower.|
Jaguars | Cam Robinson working out for Jaguars Wed Apr 19, 11:23 AM
Alabama OT Cam Robinson is working out for the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, April 19.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars have the 4th overall pick in the draft, and that's way too high for Robinson. He could fall to the second round of the draft, and that might be a better spot for the Jags to take him. Robinson is big and powerful in a phone booth, but he's not athletic enough to handle premier edge rushers in pass protection.|

Lions | Matthew Stafford healed up Wed Apr 19, 09:15 AM
Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (finger) said his injured middle finger didn't require surgery, just rest, and it started to feel better in February.
|Footballguys view: In the 12 games before the injury, Stafford completed 67.2 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and five interceptions. Over the final five games, including a playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks, he completed 59.6 percent with three touchdowns and 10 interceptions.|

Raiders | Derek Carr fully participating in OTAs Tue Apr 18, 09:22 PM
Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr's (leg) surgically-repaired right fibula is healed enough to the point that he's able to be a full participant in the team's offseason training program, which began Monday, April 17. 'I've been running, jumping, throwing, cutting, everything,' Carr said. 'So I'm ready to rock. I'm ready to do absolutely everything. I did everything my teammates did today. I'll do everything my teammates will do tomorrow.'
|Footballguys view: Great news for the Raiders here. We're certain they won't push him as he continues to heal from his broken leg, but the plan is to have him at full strength for Week 1 of the regular season. With a healthy Carr, the Raiders are a Super Bowl contender in 2017.|

New England Patriots RB James White agreed to a three-year contract extension Tuesday, April 18, according to a source. He is now signed through 2020. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: The Patriots are making moves at running back. Earlier on Tuesday, the Pats offered a contract to Bills RFA Mike Gillislee. They added Rex Burkhead in free agency earlier this year too. White, a favorite of QB Tom Brady, should continue as a change-of-pace back for the Pats.|

Raiders | Dan Williams released Tue Apr 18, 05:00 PM
Oakland Raiders DT Dan Williams was released Tuesday, April 18.
|Footballguys view: Williams is a big bodied run stuffer who should get some interest on the open market. He's only a rotational player, and his weight is always a concern, but Williams should have a few teams looking at him. The Raiders clear up $4.5 million in cap space with this move.|

Patriots | Malcolm Butler signs tender Tue Apr 18, 04:56 PM
New England Patriots restricted free-agent CB Malcolm Butler signed his tender Tuesday, April 18. He could still be traded, however.
|Footballguys view: The deadline to sign his tender was on Friday, so this was going to happen at some point this week. The Saints could still be in the mix for Butler, and the Patriots may be able to move back into the first round of the 2017 NFL draft. Stay tuned.|

Eagles | Carson Wentz talks elbow soreness Tue Apr 18, 01:56 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz's elbow wasn't a problem during his rookie season, dispelling reports suggesting he dealt with soreness, he said during a Monday, April 17, press conference at the Eagles' NovaCare Complex.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles will monitor the second-year pro closely as he continues to develop as their franchise quarterback. With better weapons around him this year, Wentz could post QB2 numbers for fantasy owners in 2017.|

Patriots | Pats offer contract to Mike Gillislee Tue Apr 18, 01:40 PM
The New England Patriots have offered Buffalo Bills restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee a two-year, $6.4 million contract, according to a source. The first year of the deal is worth $4 million.
|Footballguys view: It looks like the Patriots are making a move so strong the Bills won't match. Just like last year when they lost WR Chris Hogan. The Bills would net a fifth-round pick if they lose Gillislee. Losing a main backup behind LeSean McCoy would open the door for second-year pro Jonathan Williams to do more.|

Broncos | Aqib Talib won't be suspended Tue Apr 18, 12:38 PM
Updating an ongoing story, Denver Broncos CB Aqib Talib will not be suspended for his alleged role in a 2016 shooting incident, according to a source. The NFL has closed its investigation.
|Footballguys view: Shocking news here quite frankly. Talib shot himself last year but apparently he's come clean (and the police investigation determined the wound was self inflicted). No suspension means he'll be out there for the Broncos Week 1. Talib is a leader on that team and still playing at a high level.|

NFL | Raiders-Beastmode union has deadline? Tue Apr 18, 12:32 PM
Retired RB Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) has an agreement in place to join the Oakland Raiders, if the Seattle Seahawks trade his rights. However, the deal may have a deadline of the 2017 NFL Draft. Oakland could move on if it drafts a power back, in the opinion of NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
|Footballguys view: There are more than a few power backs the Raiders could go with if they can't get something done with Lynch. The story of Lynch going to Oakland (where he's a hometown hero) is great, but they've got to get something done or risk the deadline passing.|

Jaguars | Nathan Peterman works out for Jaguars Tue Apr 18, 09:21 AM
Pittsburgh QB Nathan Peterman worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday, April 17, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: The Jaguars may be looking for a developmental guy to groom behind Blake Bortles. Peterman has the upside to be a good starter in the league, and many teams have recognized him as having Dak Prescott-like potential. He could be a second- or third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.|
