Steelers | Want to see Reggie Dunn as punt returner Wed May 15, 03:25 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said team knows WR Reggie Dunn is a good kick returner but would like to see him as a punt returner. 'We know what he can do as a kickoff returner, we're anxious to see how he can handle punts. He really didn't do a lot of punt returns at Utah because they had others who were, quite honestly, better during his time there. We're excited because the speed (is something) you can't teach. You have to give that young man the opportunity to prove what he can or can't do on the field,' Colbert said.

Buccaneers | Sign Akeem Spence Wed May 15, 03:12 PM
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed DT Akeem Spence to four-year, $2.65 million deal that includes $485,000 bonus Wednesday, May 15.
| Footballguys view: Spence is a short but stout DT who can play the nose for Tampa Bay. He's functionally strong, understands leverage, and can create inside push on the QB. |
Dolphins | Salary could be factor in PK competition Wed May 15, 03:04 PM

Baltimore Ravens PK Justin Tucker said he believes he has a chance to make all of his field goals and extra points this season. 'It's not unrealistic to say that I can have a perfect regular season kicking field goals and extra points,' Tucker said. 'It's just a matter of, no pun intended, putting in the leg work right now.' Tucker made 90.9 percent of his field goal attempts in 2012, which ranked sixth in the NFL.

Buccaneers | Darrelle Revis won't take part on OTA's Wed May 15, 02:43 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Darrelle Revis (knee) will not take part in organized team activities with his new team next week. Revis will instead continue to work with Tampa Bay rehab personnel as he tries to get his knee back to full strength.
| Footballguys view: The Bucs paid a big price in trade (and new contract) to Revis and will monitor his progress closely as he comes back from this injury. We could even see him limited in training camp as the team doesn't want to aggravate the injury. |

Jaguars | Matt Scott expected to have edge for No. 3 QB job Wed May 15, 02:43 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Matt Scott is expected to have the edge over QB Jordan Rodgers (hernia) for the No. 3 quarterback job entering training camp because Rodgers will miss the remaining offseason workouts after undergoing sports hernia surgery.
| Footballguys view: No surprise here. Scott also has an advantage because he's a much better athlete. He could be a nice option QB but struggles with accuracy as a passer. |
Jaguars | Coach thinks camp will make QB situation more clear Wed May 15, 02:42 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said he expects the competition between QBs Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne will become more clear once the team puts pads on during training camp because the coaches can see how they perform during certain situations.
| Footballguys view: It's a make or break year for Gabbert as the team is growing tired of his ineffectiveness. The new regime could start making plans to find his replacement in 2014 if Gabbert continues to struggle this year. |

Bills | Eric Wood contract update Wed May 15, 02:32 PM
The Buffalo Bills and C Eric Wood have a mutual interest in getting a new deal done, but with plenty of time and a lot of other issues for the team, Wood knows it is not a priority right now. 'There's obvious interest from both sides to get a deal done at some point,' Wood said. 'But with a GM change and a big-time free agent at safety that we'd like to get re-signed -- and this is just me speculating myself, this isn't stuff they said -- and rookies, I know I'm not top priority right now. Hopefully we can get a deal done at some point, maybe this summer.'

Redskins | Sign Chris Thompson Wed May 15, 02:02 PM
The Washington Redskins signed RB Chris Thompson Wednesday, May 15. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
| Footballguys view: Any RB added by Mike Shanahan is worth making a note of for fantasy owners. Thompson is a feisty runner who is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball. He is dangerous in space, has the vision to set up defenders with ease, and the body control/footwork to take sharp cuts and angles. Thompson can work off a speed option to the outside and should be a nice change of pace back behind Alfred Morris. |
Cardinals | Daryl Washington speaks about suspension Wed May 15, 01:49 PM
Arizona Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington spoke about his tumultuous offseason and upcoming suspension, but he did not have much to say. "I really can't talk about that right now," Washington said. "I'm pretty much limited in what I got to say but I'm going to let my attorney do his job and we'll go from there."

Cardinals | Daryl Washington demoted in OTAs Wed May 15, 01:38 PM
Arizona Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington has been suspended by the NFL for four games and potentially faces another suspension for an offseason arrest. Washington came into organized team activities as a second-string linebacker behind ILB Karlos Dansby, who is likely to replace Washington for the duration of his suspension.
| Footballguys view: The move makes sense. Washington is facing at least a four game suspension to begin the season. Dansby is back with the Cardinals after spending the last three seasons in Miami. |

Colts | RBs to be involved more in passing game Wed May 15, 01:30 PM
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to use their running backs more out of the backfield as receivers under new offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton than they did in 2012 with Bruce Arians calling plays. RB Vick Ballard led all Colts rushers with just 17 catches a year ago.
| Footballguys view: The Colts offense won't feature as much downfield passing as it did last year under Arians. The Hamilton offense is more controlled and based off underneath routes that move the chains in short chunks. That means a bigger opportunity for TEs like Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener. It also means more targets for RBs out of the backfield like Ballard. |
Colts | Vick Ballard favored as starting back Wed May 15, 01:24 PM
Indianapolis Colts RB Vick Ballard is expected to enter training camp as the team's No. 1 running back, but that doesn't mean RB Donald Brown will not also see playing time. Head coach Chuck Pagano sees Ballard as a player who gets stronger as the game wears on, while Brown is considered more of a home run hitter for the offense.
| Footballguys view: Sounds like the Colts are going to use a RBBC featuring Ballard as the lead back and Brown as the change of pace back. Ballard's current ADP is RB28 and he's coming off the board near the end of round five. |

Ravens | Rolando McClain retiring from NFL Wed May 15, 01:11 PM
Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome announced Ravens LB Rolando McClain, 23, has informed the team he is retiring. Baltimore has placed McClain on the Reserve/Retired list.
| Footballguys view: Things change pretty quickly around here. Three years ago McClain was a top 10 pick in the first-round and people were talking about him like the next coming of Patrick Willis. Still only 23 years old we'll see if McClain can get his life back on track and get back on the football field. |

Jaguars | QBs splitting reps Wed May 15, 11:10 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars QBs Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne are splitting first-team reps evenly in OTAs.
| Footballguys view: The Jaguars have a QB competition that should last through training camp. Reports are coming out of minicamp that Gabbert is struggling to impress on short/underneath passes. Henne is a serious contender for the starting job and could win the job outright. We won't know who emerges from this competition until around week three of the preseason. |

Bills | Kiko Alonso signs Wed May 15, 10:55 AM
The Buffalo Bills signed second-round pick LB Kiko Alonso to a four-year deal. The deal is worth $4,300,401 with a $1,507,564 signing bonus.
| Footballguys view: Alonso has elite straight line speed and can get the ball carrier in a hurry. He's got a nose for the ball and diagnoses plays quickly as they unfold in front of him. Alonso will need to play more disciplined as a pro. Too often his hyper aggressive playing style will cause him to overrun plays. |

Ravens | Dayne Crist signs Wed May 15, 10:53 AM
The Baltimore Ravens signed undrafted free-agent QB Dayne Crist (Kansas).
| Footballguys view: Crist was originally at Notre Dame before he transferred to Kansas. He is your classic pocket passer but struggles with decision making and downfield accuracy. He's merely a camp arm behind Joe Flacco, Tyrod Taylor, and Caleb Hanie. |
Eagles | More on Felix Jones Wed May 15, 10:23 AM
Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles RB Felix Jones will receive a $32,500 signing bonus and will make another $32,500 bonus if he makes the 46-man roster Week 1.

Bears | Matt Forte preparing for bigger receiving role Wed May 15, 10:19 AM
Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte is preparing for a bigger role in the passing game this season.
| Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to take note here. The Marc Trestman offense is going to do wonders for the Bears offense. Obviously Forte is a key piece for the offense and will be featured as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. The Bears upgraded O-Line and added weapons in the passing game should only help open up rushing lanes in 2013. Forte's current ADP is RB14 and he's coming off the board at the beginning of round two. |

Vikings | Not pursuing Brian Urlacher Wed May 15, 09:52 AM
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said the team isn't pursuing free-agent MLB Brian Urlacher (Bears) right now. They plan to give LB Erin Henderson every opportunity to win the middle linebacker job. 'Brian has been a great player in our league for a long, long time,' Frazier said. 'He was a thorn in our side for many years. At this point we want to look at the guys on our roster, give them a chance to compete for the middle linebacker position then we'll see where it takes us.'
| Footballguys view: With both the Broncos and Vikings uninterested in Urlacher he'll have to wait longer to find a new home. We could get to training camp before Urlacher gets an opportunity. |

Dolphins | Aaron Corp signs Wed May 15, 09:35 AM
The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent QB Aaron Corp (Cowboys) to a one-year deal.
| Footballguys view: Corp was originally a USC QB who then transferred to Richmond. He went undrafted in 2012 and this is his third team in two years. Corp will compete with Pat Devlin for the team's third-string job behind Ryan Tannehill and Matt Moore. |
Panthers | Restructure DeAngelo Williams' deal Wed May 15, 09:07 AM
The Carolina Panthers restructured RB DeAngelo Williams' contract. He was in the third season of a five-year, $43 million contract and was scheduled to earn $5 million with an $8.2 million salary cap number for 2013. Williams will still receive $5 million in cash this year, but the deal has been restructured in a way that reduces his cap number to $5 million, a cap savings of $3.2 million that leaves the team $8.46 million under their adjusted 2013 salary cap number of $126.232 million. Williams was scheduled to earn $4.75 million in non-guaranteed base salary with a $250,000 workout bonus this season. Under the renegotiated contract, Williams' base salary was lowered to $850,000 and his workout bonus reduced to $150,000. The remaining $4 million was converted to a signing bonus, which will be prorated against the Panthers' cap at $800,000 per season through 2017.
| Footballguys view: This move should keep Williams from being a post June 1st cut. His role has been reduced and he'll play as the second RB in the team's RBBC alongside Jonathan Stewart. |

Giants | Victor Cruz lowers demands Wed May 15, 08:51 AM
New York Giants WR Victor Cruz has lowered his demands to closer to what the team is offering. The team is believed to be offering nearly $8 million a year. There is optimism a deal will get done, but nothing is imminent.
| Footballguys view: Cruz wanted WR1 money (around $11MM annually) but now seems to be willing to renegotiate. He's certainly outplayed his first contract as the team found Cruz as an undrafted free agent out of UMass. Something should get done before the start of training camp if not sooner. |
Jets | Two let go Wed May 15, 08:42 AM
The New York Jets didn't renew the contracts of assistant general manager Scott Cohen and director of football administration Ari Nissim, according to a source. Cohen was former GM Mike Tannenbaum's right-hand man. Nissim handled many of the team's contracts. Several scouts were also let go. Head coach Rex Ryan's role in personnel decisions also appears to be diminished.

Texans | Brooks Reed recovering from surgery Wed May 15, 08:33 AM
Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips said LB Brooks Reed (undisclosed) had surgery this offseason to repair an injury suffered during the season. He didn't say whether the surgery would keep Reed out of OTAs, which begin May 20.
| Footballguys view: Reed did miss four games last year late in the season due to a groin injury. No word on what the procedure was for but it sounds like a minor procedure. |
Cardinals | Daryn Colledge lining up at RG Wed May 15, 08:33 AM
Arizona Cardinals OG Daryn Colledge has been lining up at right guard in OTAs. First-round pick OG Jonathan Cooper has served as the backup left guard.

Packers | Alex Green rushed back Wed May 15, 08:22 AM
Green Bay Packers RB Alex Green (knee) admitted he rushed back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament to compete for carries in training camp last season. He said it was premature, and by December, his knee was sore and swollen.
| Footballguys view: Green had his shot last year to prove himself as a starting caliber RB but struggled on the field and failed to impress. Now he's third or fourth on the depth chart since the Packers added both Eddie Lacy and Jonathan Franklin in the 2013 NFL draft. |
Chargers | Dwight Freeney visiting Wed May 15, 08:22 AM
The San Diego Chargers will visit with free-agent DE Dwight Freeney (Colts) Wednesday, May 15.
| Footballguys view: That came together quickly. With Melvin Ingram likely lost for the season with a knee injury the team needs to add to their pass rush. Freeney is one of the best veteran pass rushers left on the open market but is coming off two down seasons. The Chargers run a 3-4 defense and that's the scheme Freeney struggled in last year. He would be a better fit as a DE in a 4-3 front. |

Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (knee) was on the field for the first day of organized team activities (OTAs) Tuesday, May 14, but he did not practice as he recovers from a procedure on his knee.
| Footballguys view: Moeaki is a talented move TE but durability issues have held him back during his entire pro career. He needs to get healthy and beat out veteran Anthony Fasano and rookie Travis Kelce for the starting job. |

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Tuesday, May 14, that RB Shaun Draughn (hernia) missed the first day of organized team activities (OTAs) while recovering from a sports hernia.
| Footballguys view: Draughn has extra competition in the RB corps after the Chiefs added rookie Knile Davis in the third-round of the 2013 NFL draft. The two will compete with second-year RB Cyrus Gray to be the primary backup behind Jamaal Charles. |

Dolphins | Jonathan Martin happy to know role Wed May 15, 12:07 AM
Miami Dolphins OT Jonathan Martin is relieved to know he is set to play left tackle this season, replacing the departed OT Jake Long (Rams). The team is privately optimistic Martin can do the job, and become a good left tackle. Martin is working to add 20 pounds this offseason, going up to 318. He said he not only wants to get bigger, but also 'stronger and tougher.'
| Footballguys view: Martin played left tackle in college at Stanford where he protected the blind side of Andrew Luck. He's athletic enough to play on the left side of the line but struggles against edge rushers with a combination of power and speed. He needs to bulk up but at the same time not lose any of the quickness on his kick step. |
Dolphins | Jared Odrick not too concerned Wed May 15, 12:06 AM
Miami Dolphins DL Jared Odrick said Tuesday, May 14, that he doesn't view the selection of DE Dion Jordan as a threat to his job. 'None whatsoever,' Odrick said. 'I plan on being a solid, consistent contributor to this defense for many years to come.'

Dolphins | Lamar Miller working with NFL starter Wed May 15, 12:05 AM
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller has been working out with San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore during the offseason. Gore, a fellow University of Miami alum, counseled Miller on lessons learned in the NFL. Miller said Tuesday, May 14, he is staying at 215 pounds, but adding more muscle mass.
| Footballguys view: Miller is getting the nod as the team's starter this year. He'll have to prove that he can handle the full workload in 2013. Miller's current ADP is RB24 and he's coming off the board near the middle of round four. Rookie Mike Gillislee and veteran Daniel Thomas will compete for the backup job behind Miller. |

Dolphins | Daniel Thomas not conceding anything Wed May 15, 12:04 AM
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller is considered the front-runner for the starting running back job, although RB Daniel Thomas said Tuesday, May 14, that he shouldn't be overlooked. I'm looking to be that guy. That's why I put the work in.'
| Footballguys view: Thomas has struggled to impress during his time in the pros. Miller should be the starter for the Dolphins this year and Thomas will have to compete with rookie Mike Gillislee for the backup job. |
