Broncos | Tre McBride, Keith Mumphery visit Thu Apr 16, 02:27 PM
William & Mary WR Tre McBride and Michigan State WR Keith Mumphery have met with the Denver Broncos this offseason.
|Footballguys view: The Broncos are just looking at potential depth at the wide receiver position here. McBride is looked at as a third rounder while Mumphery will likely be a late-round pick or priority free agent. Seems like Denver is looking at all levels for more receivers. Our very own Cecil Lammey was impressed by Mumphery at the East-West Shrine Game earlier this year. Mumphery showed good quickness in and out of his breaks, and he could work well as a return man too.|
Vikings | Adrian Peterson to be reinstated Thu Apr 16, 02:13 PM
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson has been informed that he will be reinstated from the commissioner exempt list starting Friday, April 17.
|Footballguys view: Now the question is, where will he play? The Vikings want him back (so they say) but he's still upset about how they treated him. We'll ignore the irony there for a minute, and instead reiterate that he remains a top ten talent for fantasy no matter the team. Now we'll see if the Dallas Cowboys will pony up for his services. Trading for Peterson would likely take a king's ransom.|

Packers | Andrew Quarless looking to improve Thu Apr 16, 02:10 PM
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless said he has been working on improving his game this offseason and believes he can be a productive part of the offense. 'I consider myself the top echelon of tight ends,' Quarless said. 'That's really where I see myself and that's really where I'm trying to take it. A couple other guys like (Rob Gronkowski) and a couple guys who are up there. I put myself in that bracket. That's definitely where I'm training to be.'
|Footballguys view: Quarless might be a little too excited about himself. He's athletic and talented, but has yet to show anything like "upper echelon" talent. We think he could be a solid TE2 for fantasy, and his ceiling is capped by the talented receivers on the roster.|

Buccaneers | Chase Tenpenny cut Thu Apr 16, 02:09 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers P Chase Tenpenny was released Thursday, April 16.
|Footballguys view: The Bucs, like most teams, figure they can find a punter almost anywhere. They aren't wrong and could need the roster space for someone else.|
Rams | Dorial Green-Beckham visits Rams Thu Apr 16, 02:08 PM
Oklahoma WR Dorial Green-Beckham visited with the St. Louis Rams in the first week of April.
|Footballguys view: Green-Beckham has a ton of talent but a penchant for trouble off the field. The Rams need receiver help, but they might want to pass on a guy who was kicked off a team and has had multiple incidents involving drugs. He has top-10 talent, but Green-Beckham may fall to the second round because of character concerns.|
Rams | St. Louis met with DeVante Parker Thu Apr 16, 02:07 PM
Louisville WR DeVante Parker met with the St. Louis Rams Wednesday, April 15. He is considered the third-best wide receiver in this year's draft behind Alabama WR Amari Cooper and West Virginia WR Kevin White. The Rams also had a pre-draft visit with Cooper in the first week of April, and White will visit with the Rams next week.
|Footballguys view: Now that the Rams have Nick Foles, they need to give him weapons. There is a good chance both Kevin White and Amari Cooper could be off the board by the time they pick at 10th overall. If that's the case, Parker is a good third option. Parker has good height, speed and great ball skills on deep targets. He'd be a potent weapon for Foles.|
Patriots | Dont'a Hightower rehab going well Thu Apr 16, 01:53 PM
New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower (shoulder) is doing well in his rehab from surgery in early February on his shoulder, but he's likely to miss training camp this summer with a timetable for recovery around six to seven months. Hightower is hoping that he can be ready for the start of the regular season. 'Right now, I'm doing well. The doc likes everything he's seen. I just had my checkup. I'm right on track, if not better,' Hightower said. 'I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do as far as OTAs and training camp and all that other stuff goes. But I'm looking forward to being back.'
|Footballguys view: Hightower had surgery to repair a torn labrum and while rehab is going well, he may still miss OTAs....maybe even training camp. With Jared Mayo hurt (though he may be back sooner), things are a little thin, but the Pats don't want to rush him back.|
Donta Hightower player page
Broncos | Jeremy Langford visits Thu Apr 16, 01:47 PM
Michigan State RB Jeremy Langford recently met with the Denver Broncos.
|Footballguys view: After a successful season from C.J. Anderson and with Montee Ball still around, Langford would be a potential backup first. Langford is strong in pass protection and catches the ball well. He isn't very shifty or elusive though and carried the ball a lot for the Spartans. He's a part-time player in the NFL and Langford is a mid-round pick at best.|
Falcons | Joe Hawley expects to be ready for camp Thu Apr 16, 01:14 PM
Atlanta Falcons C Joe Hawley (knee) said he started running about a month ago and expects to be ready for the start of training camp.
|Footballguys view: The offensive line had a lot of problems last season and having their center healthy would be a huge help. If they want to succeed it has to start on the offensive line.|
Browns | Cleveland meets with Amari Cooper Thu Apr 16, 12:55 PM
Alabama WR Amari Cooper has met with the Cleveland Browns this offseason. The Browns likely would have to trade up in first round of the 2015 NFL Draft if they want to select him.
|Footballguys view: Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on the Browns. Cleveland ignored the wide receiver position after learning Josh Gordon would be suspended last draft, but not now. Of course, if they want Cooper, they'll have to move up from 12. It won't be cheap but given how poor their wide receiver group is, it could be worth it.|
Seahawks | SEA cautious with Russell Wilson deal Thu Apr 16, 12:02 PM
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is in negotiations with the team on a long-term contract extension, but general manager John Schneider said the team will be cautious in what they offer Wilson for a new contract. Schneider will be mindful of the salary cap and the club's future. Wilson will make $1.5 million in 2015, but a new deal is expected to give him over $20 million a year and more than $100 million total.
|Footballguys view: The team knows that the bigger the contract the harder it will be to stay competitive the way they have been. They benefited heavily since Wilson was on a super-cheap rookie contract (and a third round one at that). They'll want to keep the contract on the low side, but Wilson's play over the last three years and his upside means they'll have to compensate him accordingly....and they cannot afford to do without him.|

Titans | Phillip Dorsett visiting Tennessee Thu Apr 16, 10:28 AM
Miami (Fla.) WR Phillip Dorsett is visiting the Tennessee Titans Thursday, April 16.
|Footballguys view: Phillip Dorsett has averaged more than 25 yards per catch since 2012 and can burn teams inside and out. Tennessee needs to keep building the offense for Zach Mettenberger, Philip Rivers or whomever ends up under center.|
Chargers | Antonio Gates wants to be dialed back Thu Apr 16, 09:09 AM
San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates said he doesn't want to play as many snaps in 2015 as he did last year. 'With injuries and whatnot, I played a little bit more than they expected me to play last season,' Gates said. 'I was playing the whole game. How I feel next year, it depends on how much volume they have me doing. I'd like to come in on third-and-7s, red zones, those situations. That's what my contribution is at anyway.'
|Footballguys view: Well, like death and taxes, one sure thing is the Chargers will tempt us with promises of more Ladarius Green and then tear it from us with cold, cruel hands. We'll have to see whether this develops into a real thing come the summer, and it's certainly a situation fantasy owners need to monitor. Green has a lot of ability, he just needs opportunity and he might have the break out fantasy season we've been waiting for if Gates is truly wanting to dial back his role.|

Seahawks | Tory Slater visiting Seattle Thu Apr 16, 08:54 AM
West Georgia DT Tory Slater is visiting the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, April 16.
|Footballguys view: Tory Slater is a bit of a sleeper, even though he's already visited with the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. He did well at his Pro Day and his athleticism (he was a wide receiver in high school) intrigues teams.|
Jaguars | Paul Posluszny extended Thu Apr 16, 08:32 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Paul Posluszny signed a one-year extension Wednesday, April 15.
|Footballguys view: Not a shock as the Jaguars have to keep one of their more talented players in house, even though Posluszny struggled last season. One year isn't a huge commitment so if he can't turn it around they can cut him loose.|
Paul Posluszny player page
Packers | Will look at Jordan Leslie Thu Apr 16, 02:57 AM
BYU WR Jordan Leslie will visit the Green Bay Packers prior to the NFL Draft, according to a league source.
|Footballguys view: The Packers are always looking for the next wide receiver to add to a talented group. It gives them leverage against free agents who might want more money than they would like to pay. Leslie played for UTEP for three years before moving to BYU for his last season.|
Titans | Vic Beasley visits Thu Apr 16, 02:53 AM
Clemson LB Vic Beasley made a visit to the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday, April 15.
|Footballguys view: Beasley is considered one of the best edge-rushers in this draft class. He's a bend-and-burst rusher who can get around tackles on the outside. Beasley does a good job of closing on the ball-carrier quickly, and he should be a top-10 pick in the 2015 NFL draft.|
Panthers | Ronald Darby visits Thu Apr 16, 02:49 AM
Florida State CB Ronald Darby visited the Carolina Panthers recently.
|Footballguys view: Darby has the upside to be a starter in the pros. He's got the speed to make up ground in the blink of an eye. This helps him if he takes false steps on a break or play-action fake. Darby is not a hitter, but he has shown the willingness to play press or off coverage. Look for him to come off the board in the second round of the draft.|
Giants | G-Men uncertain about Victor Cruz Wed Apr 15, 11:39 PM
The New York Giants do not know whether and to what extent WR Victor Cruz (knee) will recover from the severe knee injury he suffered last season. He might not be ready for the start of training camp, and if he can go Cruz is expected to be on a somewhat limited program.
|Footballguys view: Nobody knows much of anything right now in regards to Cruz's potential availability. Cruz should start training camp on the PUP list--which he can be activated from at any time. If he's not ready for Week 1 of the regular season, then the PUP list is still an option. If placed on the PUP list to begin the regular season, Cruz would be forced to miss the first six weeks of the year. After that time, the Giants would then have three weeks to decide whether or not to activate him or put him on season-ending Injured Reserve.|

Giants | Rueben Randle penciled in to start Wed Apr 15, 11:39 PM
New York Giants WR Rueben Randle is projected to start alongside WR Odell Beckham Jr., as the team is uncertain how far WR Victor Cruz (knee) will make it back from his torn patellar injury.
|Footballguys view: Randle had a breakout year in his third season. He posted career-best numbers in catches (71) and receiving yards (938). Randle could be in line for a large role if Cruz is unable to come back from the severe knee injury he suffered in 2014. The hope is that Cruz will be ready for the regular season opener, but he could be put on the PUP list to begin the year.|

Giants | Preston Parker to see more snaps? Wed Apr 15, 11:34 PM
New York Giants WR Preston Parker has worked in the slot, and he could see time in three-receiver sets if WR Victor Cruz (knee) is not ready for the start of the regular season.
|Footballguys view: Parker could be a decent slot man if he can win the job over Dwayne Harris or Kevin Ogletree. The Giants may have to scramble a bit at the wide receiver position if Cruz isn't ready to begin the regular season. Perhaps they'll select a wide receiver at some point in the draft this year.|
Preston Parker player page
Giants | Kevin Ogletree could have big role Wed Apr 15, 11:33 PM
New York Giants WR Kevin Ogletree has experience working in the slot, and he might be used in three-receiver sets if WR Victor Cruz (knee) is not ready for the beginning of the regular season. WRs Dwayne Harris and Preston Parker could also be in the mix.
|Footballguys view: Ogletree has decent size but we question his run-after-the-catch ability and willingness to get open over the middle of the field. The Giants are hoping that Cruz can be back at the start of the season, but he could be put on the PUP list to begin the year.|
Kevin Ogletree player page
Giants | Dwayne Harris option in the slot Wed Apr 15, 11:32 PM
New York Giants WR Dwayne Harris has experience playing the slot, and he could be called upon in three-receiver sets if WR Victor Cruz (knee) is unable to make it for the start of the regular season.
|Footballguys view: Harris is a quick player who can make defenders miss after the catch. He has good lower-body strength to run through arm tackles as well. Kevin Ogletree and Preston Parker are also in the hunt.|
Dwayne Harris player page
Bills | Sammy Watkins to be full go Wed Apr 15, 11:32 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (hip) is able to work out in some capacity during the team's offseason program, although head coach Rex Ryan indicated Wednesday, April 15, that he doesn't expect Watkins to do many football-related activities training camp. "My understanding is Sammy is doing really well," Ryan said. "We're not going to see him out there until training camp. But he should be full go when we get to training camp."
|Footballguys view: The Bills have no reason to rush Watkins back onto the practice field at this time. We believe they'll ease him in at training camp, and he should be able to ramp up his participation quickly as we get closer to the start of the regular season.|

Saints | Corey Wootton leaves without deal Wed Apr 15, 10:52 PM
Free-agent DT Corey Wootton (Vikings) met with the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, April 15, but he left without receiving a contract offer, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: The Saints want to improve their defensive line, and they could add Wooton at a later date. A part-time player with the Vikings last year, Wooton's best season came in 2012 when he had 27 tackles and seven sacks.|

NFL | Jaelen Strong doesn't need surgery Wed Apr 15, 05:32 PM
Updating a previous report, Arizona State WR Jaelen Strong (wrist) said he will not need surgery on his broken wrist.
|Footballguys view: Strong is one of our favorite receivers in this draft class. He reminds us of a cross between Anquan Boldin and Alshon Jeffery. We'll see if this wrist problem will hurt his draft stock drastically. Even with this injury, we think Strong is going to be a late first- or early second-round pick.|
Giants | Waive two players Wed Apr 15, 05:27 PM
New York Giants LB Paul Hazel and CB Josh Victorian were placed on no-recall waivers Wednesday, April 15.Link to story

Chargers | Signing Chris Hairston Wed Apr 15, 03:39 PM
Free-agent OT Chris Hairston (Bills) is signing with the San Diego Chargers Wednesday, April 15. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Hairston played for current Chargers' offensive line coach Joe D'Alessandris while in Buffalo. He's a reserve player who has battled injuries in 2012 and 2013.|
NFL | Mario Edwards receiving interest Wed Apr 15, 02:52 PM
Florida State DE Mario Edwards has met with the New England Patriots and is scheduled to meet with the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks.
|Footballguys view: Edwards has the strength and understanding of leverage to shed blockers quickly. He's a run-stuffer who can set the edge on the outside as a 3-4 defensive end.|
Redskins | Will meet with Vic Beasley Wed Apr 15, 02:50 PM
Clemson LB Vic Beasley is scheduled to meet with the Washington Redskins next week, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Beasley is one of the most explosive pass-rushers in this draft class. He's got the quickest first step in college football, and he can bend around the edge to get after the quarterback. In order to play up to his potential as a pro, Beasley needs to develop more pass-rushing moves.|
Redskins | Dante Fowler visiting Wed Apr 15, 02:49 PM
Florida DE/LB Dante Fowler met with the Washington Redskins Wednesday, April 15, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: We love Fowler's upside as a pro. He's one of the most dangerous pass-rushers in the 2015 NFL draft. Fowler can get off the line of scrimmage quickly, and he has good length and burst to get to the quarterback in a hurry. Washington has the fifth-overall pick, and that's the range where Fowler should go.|
Packers | Matt Blanchard signed Wed Apr 15, 02:40 PM
Free-agent QB Matt Blanchard (Panthers) signed with the Green Bay Packers Wednesday, April 15. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Can you say camp arm? We know you can. Blanchard has been with the Panthers and the Bears on the practice squad. Last year he was placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a concussion over the summer. With the Packers, he'll serve as a camp arm for the offseason and he's a longshot to make the final roster.|
Broncos | Ryan Clady at full strength Wed Apr 15, 02:36 PM
Denver Broncos OT Ryan Clady said his injured foot took longer to heal than originally expected but is now 100% healed.
|Footballguys view: The Broncos should get better play out of Clady this year. The new zone-blocking system is a great fit for his skill set.|

Raiders | Will meet with Marcus Peters Wed Apr 15, 01:40 PM
Washington CB Marcus Peters is scheduled to meet with the Oakland Raiders this week, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Peters was kicked off the Huskies last year after multiple infractions with the coaching staff. He has the size, speed and athleticism to dominate on the outside. Some in the scouting community have compared his skill set to that of Aqib Talib (Broncos). The Raiders could use as much help in the secondary as they can even though they selected D.J. Hayden in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft.|
Falcons | Marcus Peters works out Wed Apr 15, 01:39 PM
Washington CB Marcus Peters worked out for the Atlanta Falcons Wednesday, April 15, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Peters was kicked off the Huskies last year after multiple infractions with the coaching staff. He has the size, speed and athleticism to dominate on the outside. Some in the scouting community have compared his skill set to that of Aqib Talib (Broncos). The Falcons selected his former college teammate Marcus Trufant in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft. Even with his character concerns, Peters should be a first-round pick this year.|
Dolphins | Reggie Wayne not a target for MIA Wed Apr 15, 12:55 PM
Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) has not received interest from the Miami Dolphins at this point.
|Footballguys view: We would be shocked if Wayne latched on with a team in the near future. He's not the same player he used to be, and this is an incredibly deep group of wide receivers coming into the league via the draft this year. Wayne's playing days might be done.|
Reggie Wayne player page
Dolphins | MIA looking into Todd Gurley Wed Apr 15, 12:51 PM
Georgia RB Todd Gurley (knee) is a draft prospect that the Miami Dolphins have studied closely leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft.
|Footballguys view: Good--they should be interested in Gurley. His knee injury from last year could force him to miss the first six weeks of the regular season on the PUP list. The Dolphins would be able to take that risk as they have Lamar Miller as their starter. Miller's in a contract year, and there's no guarantee he'll come back for 2016. Gurley is essentially a modern version of Marshawn Lynch, and he can eventually be a superstar in the pros.|
Dolphins | Benardrick McKinney visiting Wed Apr 15, 12:50 PM
Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney is scheduled to meet with the Miami Dolphins, according to sources.
|Footballguys view: McKinney is a versatile linebacker who rushed off the edges in college in addition to cleaning up as a run-defender in the middle. He's an incredible athlete who can play from sideline-to-sideline. Even with his athleticism, coverage is a concern for McKinney. He can take false steps and bite on play-fakes, then he struggles to recover and get in the right spot. We should see him come off the board in the second round.|
Giants | Ryan Jones signs with Giants Wed Apr 15, 11:30 AM
Free-agent LB Ryan Jones (Ravens) signed an undisclosed deal with the New York Giants Wednesday, April 15.
|Footballguys view: Jones was originally signed as a free agent by the Ravens in May of 2013. He was waived before the start of training camp. He was a tackling machine in college at Montana Tech, and he'll compete for a backup linebacker and special teams role with the Giants.|
Saints | Mike Golic signs with New Orleans Wed Apr 15, 10:33 AM
Free-agent OT Mike Golic (CFL) signed an undisclosed deal with the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, April 15.
|Footballguys view: Golic was undrafted out of Notre Dame in 2013, and he's bounced to a few different leagues between now and then. The son of ESPN's Mike Golic, we'll see him compete for a reserve spot on the Saints roster this offseason.|
NFL | Aaron Hernandez found guilty Wed Apr 15, 10:29 AM
Former New England Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder Wednesday, April 15, in the slaying of Odin Lloyd. He's facing a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.
|Footballguys view: This will get appealed, but most think the appeal won't change the decision. Hernandez also has to go to trial for a double murder he was allegedly involved in.|

NFL | Marcus Mariota scores 33 on Wonderlic Wed Apr 15, 09:08 AM
Oregon QB Marcus Mariota reportedly scored a 33 on the Wonderlic aptitude test at the NFL Scouting Combine.
|Footballguys view: Awesome. That score means next to nothing for his pro career. Mariota is a smart player, and pretty much anyone could have told you that without giving him an archaic test.|
Buccaneers | George Johnson acquired Wed Apr 15, 08:29 AM
Detroit Lions DE George Johnson was acquired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Wednesday, April 15. Tampa signed Johnson to an offer sheet that was disputed by Detroit, but the sides swapped undisclosed draft picks to settle it.
|Footballguys view: Johnson was a journeyman pass-rusher his first four years in the league. Last season he had a career-high six sacks with the Lions...the first six sacks of his career. Now, he's going to be with the Buccaneers. Expect the NFLPA to look into this snafu and trade.|

NFL | Akeem King drawing interest Wed Apr 15, 07:54 AM
San Jose State DB Akeem King, a former wide receiver who converted to a safety, is drawing interest as a cornerback as the NFL Draft approaches. The Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks have all expressed interest in King.
|Footballguys view: King can play cornerback or safety at the pro level. He's got good ball instincts and can play close to the line of scrimmage. King is likely going to be a late-round pick or undrafted free agent.|
Falcons | Ameer Abdullah works out Wed Apr 15, 07:51 AM
Nebraska RB Ameer Abdullah worked out recently with the Atlanta Falcons, according to a team source.
|Footballguys view: Abdullah is a smaller back, but he's incredibly explosive and can break off long runs in the open field. Pass protection is certainly an issue that he'll have to get better at in the NFL. Abdullah is a willing inside runner, but his lack of size means he's not going to be a pile-pusher in the NFL. He's best used as a threat in space. He's a fantastic receiver out of the backfield, and Abdullah is athletic enough to line up in the slot at times.|
Steelers | Three draft prospects visit Wed Apr 15, 07:41 AM
Washington State DT Xavier Cooper, Ohio State TE Jeff Heuerman, and UAB TE Kennard Backman came to the Pittsburgh Steelers Tuesday, April 14, for a pre-draft visit.
|Footballguys view: Cooper is the guy we'd like to highlight here. He's an agile defensive tackle who can knife through the offensive line to create pressure on the quarterback. Cooper has good athleticism and lateral movement, but he needs to play with more power if he's going to be more than a part-time player at the pro level. He's likely a third-round pick.|
Rams | Benardrick McKinney visits Wed Apr 15, 07:24 AM
Mississippi State LB Benardrick McKinney visited the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday, April 14.
|Footballguys view: McKinney is a hard-nosed player who arrives at the ball with natural violence. He has a great nose for the ball, and McKinney does a good job when scraping and flowing to the play. He's likely to be a late first- or early second-round pick in the 2015 NFL draft.|
