Cardinals | Michael Floyd shows off versatility Tue Jul 29, 11:33 PM
Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd scored two touchdowns in team drills Tuesday, July 29. Floyd beat CB Patrick Peterson deep for his first score and outmuscled CB Justin Bethel for his second.
|Footballguys view: Floyd is an up-and-coming player in the NFL, and the best may be yet to come. With 65 catches for 1,041 yards and five touchdowns, Floyd ranked as the 23rd-best fantasy receiver in 2013. With more experience as a pro, Floyd could be more productive and finish the season as a top-20 fantasy wide receiver. His current ADP is WR23 (5.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

Cardinals | Stepfan Taylor works with first-team Tue Jul 29, 11:23 PM
Arizona Cardinals RB Stepfan Taylor worked with the first-team offense in place of RB Andre Ellington (neck) Tuesday, July 29. Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com believes the move means that Taylor is ahead of RB Jonathan Dwyer in the battle for the No. 2 RB job.
|Footballguys view: We're not surprised Taylor would be the next man up. He's a good all-purpose back who can stand out as a runner between the tackles or a receiver out of the backfield.|

Falcons | Jake Matthews impressing QB Tue Jul 29, 11:15 PM
Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews has impressed QB Matt Ryan during training camp. 'I think Jake, his size and he's very strong, very athletic,' Ryan said Tuesday, July 29. 'And he's smart. I think that's a great combination. When you talk about a guy who is drafted early and is going to be a cornerstone of the organization for a long time to come, it's a great combination to have.'
|Footballguys view: Matthews is a fine talent, and that's why the Falcons added him in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. He'll be a good right tackle for the Falcons this year, and he will eventually be counted on as a premier left tackle in Atlanta.|
Bears | Dale Moss signed Tue Jul 29, 10:56 PM
The Chicago Bears signed free-agent WR Dale Moss (Panthers) to a one-year deal Tuesday, July 29. The financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Anyone who played for the Los Angeles KISS team in the Arena League is cool with us. Moss played one season of college football at South Dakota State after playing three years of college basketball. The Packers picked him up as an undrafted free agent in 2012, and he's bounced around the league since then. Moss is on his second stint with the Bears.|
Dolphins | OC wants faster tempo Tue Jul 29, 10:47 PM
Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Bill Lazor said he wants the offense to play at a faster tempo this season. 'I'm trying to get them out of the huddle faster,' Lazor said. 'And sometimes it's uncomfortable. Sometimes it's uncomfortable for the line to make the calls that quickly. The quarterback might want them to settle in and to make the calls. We don't want it. We want to go. Every single day it's a push. They know it, they understand it. They also understand it's hard, and they're trying. I'll keep pushing.'
|Footballguys view: The Lazor offense has us interested. His system will be similar to what Chip Kelly runs with the Eagles. Ryan Tannehill will be relied on to make quick reads like Nick Foles, while Lamar Miller will have a LeSean McCoy-like role in 2014. Mike Wallace will try to duplicate what DeSean Jackson did in the Eagles offense last year. The Dolphins O-Line is rebuilt, and they are certainly not as elite as the line in Philadelphia. If you believe in this offense, there could be value plays from this unit in your fantasy draft.|
Giants | Charles James could make roster as punt returner Tue Jul 29, 10:37 PM
New York Giants CB Charles James could make the roster as a punt returner as a result of injuries to RB David Wilson (neck) and WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring) and poor play by CB Jerrel Jernigan. Jernigan dropped three punts in practice Tuesday, July 29.Link to story

Rams | Brian Quick shines in practice Tue Jul 29, 10:25 PM
St. Louis Rams WR Brian Quick hooked up with QB Sam Bradford on a couple of deeps balls in team drills Tuesday, July 29, and has enjoyed a strong camp overall, according to ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner.
|Footballguys view: Quick needs to do something as a pro. He's been a disappointment since the Rams selected him at the top of the second round in the 2012 NFL draft. Quick only has 29 catches and four touchdowns in two years as a pro. He's big and fast, but Quick doesn't know how to use his frame to win at the point of the catch. We'll see if he can work his way up from fourth on the depth chart with the Rams.|

Rams | Tre Mason works with first-team Tue Jul 29, 10:21 PM
St. Louis Ram RB Tre Mason saw received some snaps with the first-team Tuesday, July 29, with RB Zac Stacy receiving a majority of the work with the first-team.
|Footballguys view: It will be interesting to see the split between Stacy and Mason here. Stacy will be the lead back, but Mason is a quality rookie back with the ability to churn out tough yards and break off big runs. Mason has an ADP of RB48 (11.09), while Stacy has an ADP of RB17 (3.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

St. Louis Rams RB Isaiah Pead (undisclosed) missed practice Tuesday, July 29, and appeared to be wearing a cast on his right hand, according to ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner.
|Footballguys view: Pead has been a disappointment as a pro. The former second-round pick is just trying to hang around on the roster as a fourth-string back. He's now competing with Chase Reynolds to be the final back on the depth chart.|

Jets | Greg Salas, Daryl Richardson making case for roster spots Tue Jul 29, 09:44 PM
New York Jets WR Greg Salas had two difficult catches during practice Tuesday, July 29, and RB Daryl Richardson made several big runs. Dom Cosentino of The Star-Ledger believes both players have improved their chances of making the roster during training camp.
|Footballguys view: Salas has always been a good route-runner, but he had trouble catching the ball earlier in his career with the Rams. Richardson was a starter for the Rams at the beginning of last season, but now he's trying to catch on as a reserve runner behind Chris Johnson and Chris Ivory with the Jets.|

Titans | Bishop Sankey earning praise Tue Jul 29, 09:24 PM
Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey earned praise from head coach Ken Whisenhunt for his quick cuts and willingness to lower his shoulder during practice Tuesday, July 29. Whisenhunt also said that Sankey was drafted in part because he is a good fit for the offensive system.
|Footballguys view: Sankey is going to play the Ryan Mathews role in Whisenhunt's offense. The rookie is looking at a large role for the Titans this year. His current ADP is RB20 (4.09) in 12-team PPR leagues. Sankey lacks any elite trait to his game, but he can do it all. With a poor offensive line, Sankey had to do a lot of creating on his own during his college career at Washington. He's a jump-cutter who loves to make defenders miss. He has soft hands as a receiver and puts forth good effort in pass-protection.|

Cowboys | Rolando McClain dealing with stomach virus Tue Jul 29, 08:54 PM
Dallas Cowboys LB Rolando McClain (illness) left practice early Tuesday, July 29, because of a stomach virus.
|Footballguys view: Okay, well at least it's not an injury. The Cowboys defense has taken a few kicks to the midsection this offseason. Losing linebacker Sean Lee (knee) being the biggest blow.|

Vikings | Cordarrelle Patterson practices on limited basis Tue Jul 29, 08:43 PM
Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson (foot) ran routes in full pads Monday, July 29, and worked on the side with athletic trainers.
|Footballguys view: The Vikings are being careful with their potential superstar wide receiver here. Patterson could have a breakout season in 2014 if the quarterback situation comes together. We like rookie Teddy Bridgewater to start more than Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder.|

Lions | Calvin Johnson adjusting approach in practice Tue Jul 29, 08:19 PM
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is taking part in fewer reps in training camp this year than in years past and said he is trying to be smarter about his approach to practice with the goal of staying healthy the entire season. 'I'm older now,' Johnson said. 'I'm not diving for the balls anymore (in practice). Coach Caldwell has a big emphasis about us staying off the ground. I'm not playing every play in practice but they're working me in. I'm out here trying to get my extra running in after (practice) so I can keep my wind up.'
|Footballguys view: Johnson is the best in the game today. Anything he wants to do should be okay with the Lions. He's WR1 (1.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

Lions | Theo Riddick praised, confident Tue Jul 29, 07:49 PM
Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick possesses intensity, hustle, desire and toughness, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Riddick added that his versatility enables him to pressure defenses from the backfield.
|Footballguys view: More of the consistent drumbeat about Riddick here. He's been constantly impressing this entire offseason. This gives us confidence that Riddick is more than a "training camp star." He'll serve as the third back for the Lions behind Reggie Bush and Joique Bell.|

Lions | Ndamukong Suh to explore free agency? Tue Jul 29, 07:31 PM
Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh has been given permission to explore free agency in order to gauge his market value. The Lions want Suh to make an informed decision and sign a deal he's happy with.
|Footballguys view: This is....interesting to say the least. Suh hitting the open market means he's likely going to leave Detroit next year. The team doesn't want to franchise tag Suh next offseason because he would cost $26.7 million. The Lions are risking a lot in potentially (likely) giving up one of the league's most dominant interior lineman. Perhaps Suh's antics have grown tired in Detroit.|

Cowboys | Rolando McClain injured? Tue Jul 29, 07:11 PM

He just embraces every chance he gets to be that much better.'Link to story

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch fined Tue Jul 29, 06:44 PM
Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has been fined $275,000 for missing his sixth straight day of training camp, per collective bargaining agreement rules.
|Footballguys view: Lynch is getting some real bad advice here. He's got little leverage in the situation, and it seems like the Seahawks are not going to budge. We can't imagine Lynch getting the raise he wants, but there's no end to this holdout in sight.|

Browns | Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer not the answer? Tue Jul 29, 06:37 PM
Cleveland Browns QBs Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer may not be the team's answer at quarterback, according to NFL Media's Charley Casserly. Casserly said the Browns' answer at the position is more likely to be found in one of its two first-round picks next season.
|Footballguys view: Browns fans, take solace in what your former coach (and current Patriots head coach) Bill Belichick had to say about Casserly back in 2010. "Who's been wrong more than Charley Casserly since he left the Redskins? His percentage is like a meteorologist," Belichick said.|

New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hamstring) is expected to be out at least another week, although tests on his hamstring came back negative Tuesday, July 29.

Jets | Chris Johnson feeling good Tue Jul 29, 06:33 PM
New York Jets RB Chris Johnson (knee) said he feels good now that he's been able to move laterally in practice.
|Footballguys view: The Jets are going to give Johnson some time off during camp. There's no need to have the veteran out there every day grinding. This move (in addition to using Chris Ivory as a change of pace) could help keep Johnson fresh in 2014.|

Falcons | Steven Jackson has hammy issue Tue Jul 29, 06:16 PM
Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons RB Steven Jackson (hamstring) injured his hamstring Monday, July 28, which is why he wasn't practicing Tuesday, July 29. Head coach Mike Smith said Jackson will be ready for the team's first game.
|Footballguys view: Without Jackson on the practice field, guys like Jacquizz Rodgers and rookie Devonta Freeman will get more of an opportunity. We've seen what Rodgers is--decent receiver and change of pace back--but Freeman is the one to watch here. He is built low to the ground, has a powerful lower body and he's quick enough to get to the second level of the defense in the blink of an eye. See if he can take this opportunity and run with it.|

Jets | Geno Smith on shorter leash? Tue Jul 29, 05:42 PM
New York Jets QB Geno Smith may be on a shorter leash this year with QB Michael Vick as his backup. Head coach Rex Ryan said the team's quarterback situation is ideal in that there is a veteran backup waiting who knows the system if Smith doesn't succeed.
|Footballguys view: This is what we've suspected all along. Smith could be the quarterback of the future for this team, but he'll have to play well to keep his job. Vick has a ton of experience and could take over for Smith if the second-year pro struggles. It's a make-or-break year for Rex Ryan, and he needs to do whatever he can to win games.|
