Bengals | James Wright takes part in drills Wed Jun 15, 07:26 PM
Cincinnati Bengals WR James Wright (knee) participated in individual drills during practice Wednesday, June 15. He has missed nearly two seasons because of microfracture surgery and is not sure if he will be ready for the start of training camp.
|Footballguys view: It's hard to imagine Wright having much of an impact but we wish him well. It would be a great story if he could stick and have a good season. With AJ Green and seasoned vets like Brandon LaFell and Brandon Tate, Wright has a lot of competition for snaps and we aren't putting him on our rosters.|

Jets | Kenbrell Thompkins excused from practice Wed Jun 15, 07:11 PM
New York Jets WR Kenbrell Thompkins was excused from practice Wednesday, June 15, because of an undisclosed reason.
|Footballguys view: If it isn't Brandon Marshall or Eric Decker, we're not all that concerned. The offense is already a big question mark, given the quarterback issues and the schedule, so while Thompkins is intriguing, we're not on board with him on our roster.|

Chargers | Travis Benjamin absent Wednesday Wed Jun 15, 07:08 PM
San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (undisclosed) did not participate in any drills at minicamp Wednesday, June 15.
|Footballguys view: Benjamin had a solid season with the Browns last year, but not solid enough for them to hang on to him. He could find some room to work opposite Keenan Allen, and be very productive. Right now we see him as a WR4, but there's potential for more.|

Chargers | Keenan Allen consistent in practice Wed Jun 15, 07:01 PM
San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen showed his precision and good hands at minicamp Wednesday, June 15, according to The San Diego Tribune's Tom Krasovic.
|Footballguys view: Allen lost part of the 2015 season to a lacerated kidney, but was tremendous in the first half of the season. We see a healthy Allen as a great WR2 with upside this year.|

Bills | Seantrel Henderson needs to add weight Wed Jun 15, 06:51 PM
Buffalo Bills OT Seantrel Henderson (illness) is in Buffalo but will need to add some weight before he will be able to practice again. OT Jordan Mills has been working at right tackle while Henderson has been sidelined.
|Footballguys view: As sick as he was, this isn't a shock. Henderson had to go through two surgeries in his battle with Crohn's disease and it will take time to get back into shape. That said, we are excited for him and wish him the best of luck in getting back on the field.|
Chargers | Branden Oliver looking good Wed Jun 15, 06:49 PM
San Diego Chargers RB Branden Oliver (toe) practiced the way he played before his toe injury Wednesday, June 15, according to The San Diego Tribune's Tom Krasovic.
|Footballguys view: Oliver has done a good job when he needed to step up and he could push Melvin Gordon for time if the latter is too slow in recovering from surgery. As of now he's not worth a roster spot, but keep an eye on him if anything goes sideways in Gordon's recovery.|

Chargers | Danny Woodhead has ankle sprain Wed Jun 15, 06:42 PM
Updating a previous report, San Diego Chargers RB Danny Woodhead (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle in practice Wednesday, June 15.
|Footballguys view: A sprain is OK, though we hope he can get it right before camp as those things can linger a bit. Woodhead has a good chance to put up RB3 numbers in a standard league and perhaps low-end RB2 numbers in a PPR league.|

Steelers | Shaun Suisham expected to kick soon Wed Jun 15, 06:29 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers PK Shaun Suisham (knee) is expected to able to kick before the start of training camp, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.
|Footballguys view: Mark it down--CHAMPIONSHIP. We like Suisham, by the way, but you shouldn't draft a kicker earlier than the last two rounds anyway.|

Jets | New York won't wait forever on QB Wed Jun 15, 06:24 PM
Free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's (Jets) impasse with the New York Jets does have an expiration date, according to head coach Todd Bowles. Bowles said the Jets will rely on QB Geno Smith to be their starter if Fitzpatrick's contract is not worked out by a certain time. Bowles didn't say when exactly that time would be, but he indicated that it wouldn't be preseason. Fitzpatrick would start if/when he does re-sign, though.
|Footballguys view: More pressure on Fitzpatrick to fold. A lot of Jets fans are losing their minds over the thought of Geno Smith starting, but so far reports on him have been glowing. And let's also consider that this is the best receiver tandem he has worked with by far (Eric Decker was wildly out of place as a WR1 in 2014) and Chan Gailey's offense should be a good fit. On top of all that, the opening schedule is so brutal they might as well trot Fireman Ed out there--at least when he gets killed they will still have a full roster. The schedule, even more than Smith's history, is why we are not bullish on whomever is QB1 for the Jets. Smith is no safer than a low-end QB3 and Fitzpatrick would likely be about the same thing.|

Ravens | Steve Smith day-to-day Wed Jun 15, 06:02 PM
Baltimore Ravens WR Steve Smith (Achilles') said he is day-to-day and is being smart with his rehabilitation. He is not concerned with playing the preseason if it does not happen.
|Footballguys view: He shouldn't be, and the team and fans shouldn't be either. At 4,000 years old (or 37), Smith is clearly on the downside of a nice career. He had a great season last year before his injury, but it's hard to comfortably predict a 37-year old receiver is going to pick up where he left off after an Achilles injury. We have him as a WR4 or WR5 right now, though that could climb. At this point you're hoping to get him at value (his ADP is currently 113 overall and he's WR46) and then see him recapture some of the 2015 magic.|

Redskins | Derek Carrier unlikely for camp Wed Jun 15, 05:30 PM
Washington Redskins TE Derek Carrier (knee) is not expected to be ready for training camp, according to head coach Jay Gruden.
|Footballguys view: Carrier is buried behind Jordan Reed and Niles Paul, so we aren't expecting anything from him even if he's healthy. If he doesn't make an appearance in camp, don't be shocked if he is cut.|

Chargers | Melvin Gordon will be ready Wed Jun 15, 05:15 PM
San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon (knee) said he is confident in his knee and in his game. He added that when it's time to buckle up and get ready for training camp then he'll be ready.
|Footballguys view: Melvin Gordon underwent microfracture surgery on his knee in January, and it doesn't give us the warm and fuzzies that he is coming off surgery. We'd like to see him now, but camp will have to do. If he is able to go, we're predicting him to fall just shy of the 1,000 yard mark in our projections, and his ADP is RB26 in drafts right now.|

Bills | Robert Woods has had solid offseason Wed Jun 15, 04:36 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has performed well during offseason workouts, and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods has been impressive in his route running. He has been explosive off the line, quick in and out of breaks and acrobatic while going for passes in the air, according to BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown.
|Footballguys view: Aside from a fight at a recent practice, Woods has done what he needs to do to hold onto his job. That said, he needs to stay in control and he has to show consistency in an actual game. That explosion and the crisp breaks aren't there in games. Until we see they are, we're not interested in him as more than a WR6.|

Ravens | More cap space with Eugene Monroe gone Wed Jun 15, 04:35 PM
The release of free-agent OT Eugene Monroe (Ravens) gave the Baltimore Ravens $6.5 million in added salary cap space. They will also take on $2.2 million in dead money this year and $4.4 million in dead money in 2017.Link to story
Giants | Eugene Monroe a target for Giants Wed Jun 15, 04:18 PM
Free-agent OT Eugene Monroe (Ravens) is expected to receive serious interest from the New York Giants now that he is an unrestricted free agent. The Giants were interested in trading for Monroe but did not want to pick up his salary.
|Footballguys view: The Giants offensive line has been a train wreck for years, and it's nice to see GM Jerry Reese finally address it, if this is true. Rookie Erik Flowers was overmatched at left tackle and Marshall Newhouse had issues on the right. The quick-hit offense Ben McAdoo has installed helps overcome that but at some point you need a decent offensive line. Monroe would be an upgrade at either side.|
Jets | Could add quarterback Wed Jun 15, 03:54 PM
If free-agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) does not re-sign with the New York Jets then head coach Todd Bowles said they might add a veteran quarterback.
|Footballguys view: That crash you heard was Bryce Petty dropping his lunch tray in the cafeteria, probably because there was a fly in his pudding but also because if the team pulls in a veteran, Petty is likely the odd man out. Hackenberg is too valuable to risk getting snagged on the way to the practice squad, and Geno Smith would start. There's no way the Jets burn four roster spots on the position so Petty could be in trouble if he can't show improvement this summer.|

Broncos | Von Miller doesn't want to sit out Wed Jun 15, 03:49 PM
Denver Broncos LB Von Miller said he does not want to sit out the 2016 season to wait for a long-term extension. Miller said he and the Broncos still have a month to negotiate that long-term deal and he would like to remain with Denver for the rest of his career.
|Footballguys view: Fully guaranteed money seem to be the hold-up for this deal. We'll see if the two sides can find a middle ground. This defense would be hurt - though likely not devastated - if Miller sat out.|

Ravens | Eugene Monroe released Wed Jun 15, 03:37 PM
Baltimore Ravens OT Eugene Monroe was released Wednesday, June 15, after trade talks with the New York Giants fell through, according to sources. The Giants, San Diego Chargers and Seattle Seahawks could still have interest in Monroe, however.
|Footballguys view: He'll land somewhere pretty soon, as there are many OL needy teams even beyond those listed above.|
Broncos | Devontae Booker impressing Wed Jun 15, 03:30 PM
Denver Broncos rookie RB Devontae Booker has impressed running backs coach Eric Studesville from his pass protection to picking up the offensive scheme.
|Footballguys view: C.J. Anderson got paid, so we expect him to get the bulk of the carries and do think an RBBC is unlikely. That said, Booker could be a good handcuff in case Anderson gets hurt or starts to slip. Pass-protection is the bugaboo for rookie backs, and if he can lick that, he could see some time. We don't expect more than RB4 numbers as of now, but that could change this summer if this keeps up.|
Chargers| Danny Woodhead hurt, walks off Wed Jun 15, 03:19 PM
San Diego Chargers RB Danny Woodhead (leg) was injured during practice Wednesday, June 15, but walked off the field under his own power.
|Footballguys view: It doesn't seem serious, but you never know. Keep it locked here and we'll keep you up to date. Woodhead has been a versatile weapon for the Chargers and should do the same this season, though he may see less passes thrown his way if the receivers are less banged up. We could see him as a solid RB3 in a standard league or as a borderline RB2/RB3 in a PPR league.|

Rams | Jared Goff gaining comfort Wed Jun 15, 02:32 PM
Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff looked good in drills with the first-team offense in practice Tuesday, June 14, and he has gained more of a level of comfort as he has progressed during offseason workouts. One are area in which he has improved is with the speed of the game, in which he admitted is a lot different than in college. Goff said he's been able to successfully slow the game down of late. He's also come a long way in deciphering what the defense is showing him.
|Footballguys view: Let's slow our roll before we go hog wild over a guy in shorts without pads. It's good he seems comfortable with the playbook--but expected since he was the most pro-ready of the 2016 quarterback class--but we need to see him react under pressure. As of now we still see him as a decent QB3, and that's pretty much it.|
Lions | Darius Slay seeking extension Wed Jun 15, 02:30 PM
Detroit Lions CB Darius Slay said he would like to sign an extension that will reward him for being one of the top seven cornerbacks in the league. Cowboys | Ezekiel Elliott pushed into starting role Wed Jun 15, 02:23 PM
Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott took all the first-team repetitions in practice Tuesday, June 14, with RB Darren McFadden (elbow) out with a fractured elbow for two months. Elliott will remain the starting running back for all intents and purposes. 'I think it's going to be real big for him, really beneficial, because now he's forced to go in and do it,' running backs coach Gary Brown said of Elliott getting more first-team snaps. 'He's forced to go in there to perform and perform at a high level. He can't rest on his leader maybe helping him a little bit. He has to rest on himself. So it's going to be a good thing.' Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan called Elliott 'a full-package running back.'
|Footballguys view: We expected this anyway, it was just sped along due to a millionaire not letting his cell phone hit the floor. If only McFadden had a "burner" phone like Jax Teller. Elliott will have a steep learning curve but we expect him to excel behind this offensive line. He's an RB1 easily this season.|
Jets | Darrelle Revis doing some work Wed Jun 15, 02:12 PM
New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis (wrist) is participating in positional drills Wednesday, June 15.
|Footballguys view: Revis is on the downward slide of his career but he remains very good. What might be a bigger deal is how things go with Buster Skrine on the other side of the field. Even at 50 percent optimum Revis, most teams will shy away from him, especially if Skrine falters.|

Bears | Marquess Wilson breaks foot again Wed Jun 15, 01:45 PM
Chicago Bears WR Marquess Wilson (foot) re-fractured his foot, and he'll undergo surgery next week.
|Footballguys view: He was just getting back into the swing of things, and now he has to have the second surgery on his foot in under a year. We feel the value is Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White anyway, and weren't depending on Wilson for anything but deep depth, but this is still disappointing to hear. He was already on the roster bubble.|

Dolphins | Kenyan Drake injured Wednesday Wed Jun 15, 12:22 PM
Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake (hamstring) injured his right hamstring during a special teams drill Wednesday, June 15, and is walking with a limp.
|Footballguys view: The Alabama rookie could push for the second spot behind Jay Ajayi, but not if he isn't practicing. He was slated for special teams and return work, which is why he was out there. Like many rookies, he may not quite be as well conditioned as he could be after all the draft prep.|
NFL | Nate Robinson facing tall task Wed Jun 15, 12:21 PM
Free-agent CB Nate Robinson, better known as an NBA player, faces an 'all but impossible' task to latch on to an NFL team, according to Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll.
|Footballguys view: This is a nice story, but we're betting the ending is storybook. There are few basketball players who can make the transition this late in life.|
Bills | LeSean McCoy to be limited in camp Wed Jun 15, 12:16 PM
Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) is expected to have his touches limited in training camp next month, according to running backs coach Anthony Lynn. McCoy also said not to expect McCoy in for more than one or two drives in preseason games.
|Footballguys view: They'll be careful with him. We hate that he's already banged up but he's already on the mend so we're not really worried much. We see him as a solid RB2, but we do have concerns. Limiting his load in August should help allay those fears.|

Ravens | Eugene Monroe being held out Wed Jun 15, 12:16 PM
Baltimore Ravens OT Eugene Monroe (shoulder) is being held out of practice during mandatory minicamp this week because of a potential trade for him. Head coach John Harbaugh explained Monroe's situation as a 'front-office-type situation.' Monroe hasn't practiced this offseason after he had season-ending surgery last year, but he has been medically cleared to practice.
|Footballguys view: Now it seems like he will be traded. While Monroe isn't a Hall of Famer, he has something left in the tank and there are plenty of OL-needy teams who could be calling for his services.|
Giants | Victor Cruz doing solo work again Wed Jun 15, 11:40 AM
New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (calf, knee) is doing individual drills again Wednesday, June 15.
|Footballguys view: We're cautiously excited here as that is two days in a row! The Giants had no help for Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr (who normally didn't need it anyway) in 2015, so getting Cruz back has potential. That said, he's older and a knee injury might have robbed him of some of the burst and speed. Be cautious with expectations here because he's likely not the same and, three years removed from his last big season, may be well past his prime. If anything, take him late as depth.|

Dolphins | DeVante Parker returns Wed Jun 15, 10:51 AM
Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) returned to practice Wednesday, June 15.
|Footballguys view: Parker could be poised for a breakout season as he moves to the X-spot in the offense, a place that is highly productive in Adam Gase's world. We're currently seeing his ADP at 57 (WR27) overall, and think that could climb. He's tracking as a WR3 and has the upside for more in this system.|

Panthers | Brenton Bersin sits out Wed Jun 15, 09:34 AM

Panthers | Devin Funchess returns to practice Wed Jun 15, 09:33 AM
Carolina Panthers WR Devin Funchess (illness) returned to practice Wednesday, June 15.
|Footballguys view: Funchess should have an easier time of it with Kelvin Benjamin healthy, but he'll also see less targets. That's assuming he can continue to improve as he did towards the end of the 2015 NFL season. Consider him a WR5 with upside for now but watch him closely in camp.|

Ravens | Eugene Monroe on the move Wed Jun 15, 08:39 AM

Rams | Jared Goff works with first team Wed Jun 15, 02:48 AM
Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff took first-team reps during organized team activities Tuesday, June 14.
|Footballguys view: It has begun! All hail Goff, first of his name, breaker of interception records! That's our nerdy way of saying we think it will be a rough first season for the former CAL standout. A low-end group of receivers, a shaky offensive line and Todd Gurley make starting Goff a risky idea and we see him as no more than a QB3 or worse.|

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe has passed WR Dorial Green-Beckham and WR Justin Hunter on the depth chart as Sharpe worked with the first-team in practice Tuesday, June 14.
|Footballguys view: Sharpe has been--dare we say it?--SHARP so far. There's a lot of football to go before the roster is set and this could be a way to fire up Green-Beckham, but if he jumps the second-year receiver, Sharpe could end up a solid WR4 with upside.|

Bills | LeSean McCoy does limited work Wed Jun 15, 02:27 AM
Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) did not take part in team drills at practice Tuesday, June 14, he was able to take part in individual drills and beat writer Joe Buscaglia notes that it appeared McCoy was exploding through the drills quicker than he was last week. Originally the team said McCoy was dealing with a hamstring issue, but he has actually been bothered by an ankle injury.
|Footballguys view: We're a little concerned he's banged up already, but are happy he looks to be healing quickly. McCoy looks like a high-end RB2 due to the sheer number of carries he could get in the offense as well as his ability. The rest of the offense could make things tough on him, as might the shaky offensive line, which keeps him from RB1 territory.|

Bills | Tyrod Taylor impresses with accuracy Wed Jun 15, 02:25 AM
Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor was impressive with his accuracy in practice Tuesday, June 14, working the ball into the hands of his receivers with a very small window.
|Footballguys view: Taylor is working hard, which is one of the reasons why the team is starting to talk extension again. That, and the struggles of the backups. Taylor should be a low-end QB2 or a solid QB3. With the amount of running this team might do, not all the staff is terribly comfortable with Taylor's potential production.|

Bills | EJ Manuel has difficulty with deep ball Wed Jun 15, 02:24 AM
Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel continued to have problems hitting the deep targets in stride during practice Tuesday, June 14.
|Footballguys view: Manuel has to be one of the worst picks in Buffalo Bills history. Maybe Buffalo history, if you include the Sabres, a hockey team we're pretty sure would have passed on Manuel in round one of the 2013 NFL draft. If Cardale Jones figures out the playbook, Manuel could be gone.|

Bills | Cardale Jones appears hesitant in drills Wed Jun 15, 02:23 AM
Buffalo Bills QB Cardale Jones appeared to be thinking too much on the field in practice Tuesday, June 14, according to beat writer Joe Buscaglia. He isn't trusting what he is seeing yet, and is hesitant to make a decision during team drills and 7-on-7 work.
|Footballguys view: Jones appears to be as raw as we expected and the Bills are already starting to talk to Tyrod Taylor about an extension. Jones has the measurables but is too inconsistent, which is why he lost his job last season at Ohio State. We'd avoid the Buffalo quarterback situation anyway, but it looks right now that Jones is going to take some time to develop.|
