Rams | Todd Gurley sheds brace in practice Tue Oct 6, 10:44 PM
St. Louis Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) practiced without a knee brace Tuesday, Oct. 6. It was the first time he has done that since offseason knee surgery.
|Footballguys view: Another positive step for a highly anticipated rookie running back. While he started a bit slow, Gurley went nuts in the final frame of the Rams' 24-22 win over Arizona on Sunday. The blocking of the offensive line was shaky, but Gurley's speed and vision helped him overcome that deficiency. We see him as a fringe RB1/RB2 prospect this weekend.|

Texans | Arian Foster limited Tuesday Tue Oct 6, 07:43 PM
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 6.
|Footballguys view: Foster played last week, but he didn't do much against the Falcons in Week 4. Now that he's back, fantasy owners should at least trust him as a RB2/flex play in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts.|

Falcons | Devonta Freeman's numbers eye-popping Tue Oct 6, 07:34 PM
Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman has seven rushing touchdowns in the last three weeks. No Falcons running back had scored more than six touchdowns in a season since 2012.
|Footballguys view: Eye-popping numbers like Toecutter in Mad Max. Freeman has been sensational over the last two games as the starting back. Earlier this year he was coming back from a hamstring injury and splitting time with rookie Tevin Coleman. When Coleman went down with a rib injury, Freeman took over and has not looked back. He's a set-it-and-forget-it RB1 for fantasy owners.|

Bengals | Andy Dalton turning a corner? Tue Oct 6, 07:31 PM
Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is 4-0 to start the year and is averaging more than 10 yards per pass attempt.
|Footballguys view: Dalton's 9.19 air yards per passing attempt ranks 9th-highest in the league. A healthy TE Tyler Eifert and WR Marvin Jones have made a huge difference for Dalton. With weapons like those two plus WR A.J. Green, WR Mohammed Sanu and RB Gio Bernard, this passing game has been quite robust over the first four games of the year.|

Chargers | Philip Rivers leads in yardage Tue Oct 6, 07:20 PM
San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers leads the league in passing yards with 1,248 through four games and owns a completion percentage of 70.7.
|Footballguys view: Rivers is getting it done with shorter passes. His 6.11 air yards per passing attempt ranks 32nd in the league. However, his 7.57 yards after the catch per completion average is 1st in the NFL. His average time before pass of 2.09 seconds ranks 2nd in the NFL behind only Tom Brady (2.04).|

Texans | No practice for Nate Washington Tue Oct 6, 07:16 PM
Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (hamstring) missed practice Tuesday, Oct. 6.
|Footballguys view: It's a short week for the Texans, so we may not see Washington on the field on Thursday night against the Colts. If he's inactive, then perhaps rookie wide receiver Jaelen Strong could be on the field for the first time this season.|

Luck is 5-1 against the Texans, including five straight wins.Andrew Luck player page
Texans | Ryan Mallett has full practice Tue Oct 6, 06:48 PM
Houston Texans QB Ryan Mallett (chest) had another full practice Tuesday, Oct. 6.
|Footballguys view: Mallett is back in the starting lineup for the Texans after getting benched for Brian Hoyer last week against the Falcons. We're expecting the team to have a quick hook for Mallett if (when?) he struggles against the Colts.|

Colts | Frank Gore returns to practice field Tue Oct 6, 06:46 PM
Indianapolis Colts RB Frank Gore (foot) practiced in full Tuesday, Oct. 6, after sitting out Monday, Oct. 5.
|Footballguys view: Gore should be ready to go against the Texans on Thursday night. After four weeks of action, the Texans' rush defense ranks 22nd in the league averaging 115.25 rushing yards allowed per game. Consider Gore a RB2 or flex play in Week 5.|

Colts | Dwayne Allen a full participant Tue Oct 6, 06:39 PM

Jaguars | Allen Robinson leads in YPC Tue Oct 6, 06:27 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson is tops in the NFL with 22.0 yards per catch through the first four weeks of the season.
|Footballguys view: Robinson has done a fine job of taking the top off the defenses he's faced in 2015. Second-year QB Blake Bortles has clearly found a favorite target, and he has no fear when throwing to Robinson deep. His air yards per target average is 17.7 (3rd-highest in the league), so you can see the type of routes he's featured on each week.|
Patriots | Tom Brady undefeated against Dallas Tue Oct 6, 06:22 PM
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is 3-0 in his career against the Dallas Cowboys and 73-for-121 (.603 completion percentage) for 889 yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions and a passer rating of 95.4. Brady and the Pats face Dallas in Week 5.
|Footballguys view: We have a feeling that streak will continue as the Patriots come out of their bye to face Dallas.|
Lions | Matthew Stafford not connecting Tue Oct 6, 06:18 PM
Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford was just 1-for-5 for 15 yards when targeting WR Calvin Johnson on passes at least 10 yards downfield in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Oct. 5. On the season he's 5-for-18 targeting Johnson on throws of that distance.
|Footballguys view: Stafford is not playing well, and the Lions offense is suffering because of it. The answer should be to use more from the short passing game to help him get into a rhythm. Then, the Lions could try some deep shots that could have a better chance of connecting. We're not confident in this offense, and thus all the fantasy assets are trending down.|

Bengals | Tyler Eifert aiming for records Tue Oct 6, 06:17 PM
Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert is on pace for the most touchdowns by a Bengals tight end in a single season.
|Footballguys view: A healthy Eifert makes a world of difference for the Bengals offense. He's also on pace for the most receiving yards and the most receptions by a Bengals tight end since 1981. So far on the year, Eifert has 16 catches for 222 yards and three scores.|
Cardinals | Arizona offensive weapons thriving Tue Oct 6, 06:13 PM
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald leads the league in touchdown catches (five) and is third in receiving yards (432) through four games this year. QB Carson Palmer is second in touchdown passes (10) to Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (11). RB Chris Johnson is ranked fifth in the NFL with 302 rushing yards, and he's averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
|Footballguys view: The Bruce Arians offense is quite kind to fantasy owners. The team is doing all this with WR Michael Floyd and RB Andre Ellington banged up. They should be even more explosive when those two are closer to full strength.|

Lions | Matthew Stafford struggles against Cards Tue Oct 6, 06:11 PM
Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford was held to just 183 passing yards when he faced the Arizona Cardinals last season. In three career starts against the Cardinals, Stafford is 66-for-106 (56.9%) for 707 yards, two touchdowns, four interceptions and a passer rating of 66.3. He faces Arizona in Week 5.
|Footballguys view: Stafford and the Lions are off to an 0-4 start, and they should find it difficult to win against the Cardinals in Week 5. Fantasy owners should be looking for other starting options until/unless Stafford shows that he's turned things around this year. The Lions have to use a more unpredictable playbook and more creative plays in order to help their struggling offense.|
Colts | Andrew Luck takes majority of snaps Tue Oct 6, 05:30 PM
Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) took the majority of snaps in practice Tuesday, Oct. 6, giving the indication that he will play in Week 5 against the Houston Texans Thursday, Oct. 8.
|Footballguys view: He should be able to go on Thursday night against the Texans. However, we have him as a low-end QB1 as he deals with this injury. Luck was technically 'limited' Tuesday, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. It was the first time that Pagano admitted that Luck threw in practice, and Luck doesn't expect to be limited if he starts.|

Jets | Devin Smith's role increasing Tue Oct 6, 05:25 PM
New York Jets WR Devin Smith played 83% of the offensive snaps in his Week 3 debut and played more snaps than WR Eric Decker (52 to 46) in Week 4 in London against the Miami Dolphins.
|Footballguys view: We'll see if this trend continues. Smith can make big plays happen downfield because of his deep speed. However, he was known in college for getting banged up often and dropping too many easy passes. We'll see if Smith can improve his game while getting more playing time as a pro.|
Devin Smith player page
Broncos | Owen Daniels looks to continue streak Tue Oct 6, 05:22 PM
Denver Broncos TE Owen Daniels is tied with Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten for the NFL's longest active streak of games with a catch by a tight end at 107.
|Footballguys view: With the Raiders coming up in Week 5, Daniels should have no problem snaring at least one more pass. In fact, the Raiders are incredibly weak against tight ends this year. Daniels makes for a sneaky play due to the matchup. Those out there looking for help at the position can consider Daniels at least a one-week filler.|
Colts | Andrew Luck improving, not 100% Tue Oct 6, 05:02 PM
Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) said he's better, improved and making gains. He did admit that he's not where he wants to be, however.
|Footballguys view: This progress report is to be expected. It looks like Luck will play in Week 5 on Thursday night against the Texans. He may not be 100 percent, but Luck should be healthy enough to be an effective passer. Due to this injury, try to find another quarterback this week. However, if you have to start Luck we still see him finishing the week as a low-end QB1 for fantasy owners.|

Falcons | Roddy White keeping his cool Tue Oct 6, 04:55 PM
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White said there's nothing to get mad about in regards to his slow start this season. White said all he can do is run the routes he's supposed to run and do his job. He added that he knows he'll get his chances because of how defenses will play against their offense. White's streak of 130 games with a catch ended in Week 4.
|Footballguys view: Keeping his cool? The last White story we commented on had him dropping a couple of "F-bombs" due to his decreased role on offense. We'll see if the team makes an emphasis on getting him the ball in Week 5 against Washington.|

Seahawks | Russell Wilson under a lot of duress Tue Oct 6, 04:22 PM
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson was under plenty of duress in the win over the Detroit Lions in Week 4 Monday, Oct. 5, and he was sacked six times in the game for the second time this season. Wilson has already been sacked 18 times this year, which is tied for the most in the NFL. He also lost two fumbles as a result Monday, and Wilson has turned the ball over nine times in his last six games.
|Footballguys view: Head coach Pete Carroll said the offensive line is a 'work in progress' and that may be an understatement. Those 18 sacks have come on 59 dropbacks where Wilson has been under pressure. He's only completed 56.3 percent of his passes under pressure, and Wilson has no touchdowns and one interception when the pressure is on. The team needs to protect him better if they want better production from their franchise quarterback.|

Raiders | OAK HC confident in Latavius Murray Tue Oct 6, 03:27 PM
Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray still has the confidence of head coach Jack Del Rio, despite a rough outing in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears. Murray accounted for two turnovers for Oakland, but Del Rio still believes in his young running back. 'I remain confident. We have some good young players. None of us are perfect. We all are capable of making mistakes,' Del Rio said. 'I think the sooner you own up to mistakes, the quicker you can put them behind you and move forward.'
|Footballguys view: Murray had a minor shoulder injury, came out of the game, then later returned. However, he was essentially benched during that game against the Bears because of the turnovers. This led to an increased role for Roy Helu. Fantasy owners need to be ahead of the curve here. Helu was getting a lot of hype earlier this year, and he could be a valuable asset with a larger role. If you've got the bench space, grab Helu off the waiver wire just in case he takes over in Oakland.|

Colts | No subluxation for Andrew Luck Tue Oct 6, 03:18 PM
Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) does not have a partial shoulder subluxation, as had been reported previously, according to a source. Head coach Chuck Pagano said he heard Luck is dealing with a sore shoulder.
|Footballguys view: That's good news for the young quarterback. The Colts won in Week 4, but the team is obviously way better with him on the field. Luck missed the game against the Jaguars, but he's considered day-to-day and is expected to play Thursday, Oct. 8, against the Houston Texans.|

Falcons | Roddy White frustrated Tue Oct 6, 02:36 PM
Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White is fifth on the team in receiving with just six catches for 92 yards on 12 targets after four games, and he was held without a catch in back-to-back games in Weeks 2 and 3. 'For me, at the end of the day, I want to catch passes,' White said. 'I'm not out here just f---ing around just to sit around to just block f---ing people all day. It's not what I want to do.'
|Footballguys view: That's not very family friendly right there. White is not the same player he used to be, but with this outburst he could get more looks going forward. Stay tuned.|

Vikings | Charles Johnson leaves early Tue Oct 6, 02:32 PM
Minnesota Vikings WR Charles Johnson (ribs) left practice after the team stretch Tuesday, Oct. 6.
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners have been disappointed by Johnson this year, and most have moved on. Johnson did not play in Week 4 against the Denver Broncos, and even when healthy this offense is all about RB Adrian Peterson and a limited passing attack...unless they need to play catch-up football.|
Charles Johnson player page
Colts | Andre Johnson has disappeared Tue Oct 6, 02:27 PM
Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson had just two targets and was held without a catch again in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars and has disappeared in the offense often this year. WR T.Y. Hilton had 11 more targets than Johnson this past week and TE Coby Fleener was targeted 10 more times. Johnson has struggled to create separation from opposing secondaries and is often the third, fourth or fifth option in the receiving game. He has mostly played out wide his entire career but has often found himself lining up in the slot this year, too. Even more perplexing is that Johnson was dominant in training camp and developed a strong rapport with QB Andrew Luck.
|Footballguys view: We'll remember a better time for Johnson, but now he looks old and slow. Fantasy owners should have moved on from the veteran receiver. He was thought of as a WR2 entering this year, and now he's not worth rostering in most leagues.|

Colts | Indy offense in a rut Tue Oct 6, 02:09 PM
The Indianapolis Colts and QB Andrew Luck are 27th in the league in offense after four games and are averaging just 18.0 points per game after averaging 28.6 points a game in 2014. 'What is our identity?' TE Dwayne Allen said. 'We have all these pieces, but what are we? Are we a running team? Are we a passing team? Who are the passing options?'
|Footballguys view: The team needs to get back on track if they want to win the weak AFC South. They could still win the division with a poor (and perhaps under .500) record. However, the Colts had designs of making a push for the Super Bowl. That doesn't look likely now with a banged up Andrew Luck, the poor offensive line and shaky defense.|

Bills | Buffalo hoping Sammy Watkins returns Tue Oct 6, 02:09 PM
Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley said WR Sammy Watkins (calf) will play in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans 'fingers crossed.'
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners should not bet on Whaley's crossed fingers. Instead, try to find different options if you have fantasy assets from the Bills offense. Without Watkins on the field, there's a trickle-down effect because defenses play QB Tyrod Taylor a lot differently. This leads to struggles on the ground and through the air.|
