Packers | Kahlil Bell signed    Tue Dec 3, 01:25 PM

Updating a previous report, the Green Bay Packers signed RB Kahlil Bell (Jets) Tuesday, Dec. 3. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Bell gives them veteran depth at the RB position. The team needed additional depth after putting Johnathan Franklin on season-ending Injured Reserve. Bell has no fantasy value unless injuries strike the depth chart above him.

Packers | Kahlil Bell to sign    Mon Dec 2, 05:09 PM

Free-agent RB Kahlil Bell (Jets) said on his Twitter page that he will sign with the Green Bay Packers.

Footballguys view: Bell is nothing more than a reserve running back at this point in his career. Johnathan Franklin was put on Injured Reserve due to a concussion so the Packers needed to add depth.

Jets | Three claimed, two cut    Sun Sep 1, 05:29 PM

The New York Jets claimed RB Alex Green (Packers), OT Ben Ijalana (Colts) and LB Scott Solomon (Titans) off waivers. RB Kahlil Bell and LB Danny Lansanah were cut. LB Josh Mauga (back) was placed on Injured Reserve.

Footballguys view: Green might be better than Bilal Powell, so we might be talking about him if (when) Chris Ivory gets hurt, but if he couldn't produce in Green Bay, Green won't be much to write home about in New York.

Jets | Two signed, one cut    Sun Aug 11, 04:58 PM

The New York Jets signed free-agent RB Kahlil Bell (Bears) and undrafted free-agent WR Rahsaan Vaughn (Oregon) to undisclosed deals. They waived-injured RB John Griffin (leg).

Footballguys view: Bell is nothing more than a camp body for the Jets. The team needs bodies at the position with Joe McKnight (head) and Chris Ivory (hamstring) banged up.

Jaguars | Scheduled to work out Kahlil Bell    Tue May 21, 05:28 PM

Free-agent RB Kahlil Bell (Bears) is scheduled to work out with the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, May 21.

Footballguys view: Bell offers little more than veteran depth if signed. The Jaguars already have a group of Justin Forsett, Denard Robinson, Jordan Todman, Keith Toston and Jonathan Grimes behind starter Maurice Jones-Drew. We don't like Bell more than anyone of those players.

Bears | Kahlil Bell could have increased role     Sat Dec 29, 02:05 PM

Chicago Bears RB Kahlil Bell could receive a bigger role in the offense in Week 17 if RB Armando Allen (knee) is not able to play.

Footballguys view: If only Michael Bush was healthy. Matt Forte isn't 100% healthy but vows to play in the team's big game in week 17. The Bears have a must win situation against the Lions on Sunday. If they win and the Packers beat the Vikings, then Chicago will go to the playoffs.

Bears | Kahlil Bell could be short-yardage back    Wed Dec 19, 06:51 PM

Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice said the team could use RB Kahlil Bell in short-yardage and goal-line situations in Week 16 in place of RB Matt Forte. RB Michael Bush (ribs) is out for the season.

Footballguys view: Forte struggles in short yardage situations. Forte has one touchdown on eight goal-to-go carries this season, giving him just 10 touchdowns on 94 such carries during his career.

Bears | Kahlil Bell returning    Tue Dec 18, 09:38 AM

The Chicago Bears intend to re-sign RB Kahlil Bell.

Jets | Braylon Edwards coming back?    Tue Dec 11, 11:26 AM

The New York Jets released RB Kahlil Bell to make room for a wide receiver. They are rumored to be pursuing free-agent WR Braylon Edwards (Seahawks).

Footballguys view: Edwards could reunite with the team and QB Mark Sanchez. Back in 2009 & 2010 Edwards showed good chemistry with QB Mark Sanchez. Edwards only has 23 receptions between the 49ers and the Seahawks since leaving the Jets.

The New York Jets are looking to sign a free-agent running back, and free-agent RBs Steve Slaton (Dolphins) and Kahlil Bell (Bears) are in town for workouts.

Footballguys view: The Jets need some help at the RB position. We think Slaton could have the edge since he played for offensive coordinator Tony Sparano in Miami.

Bears | Hopeful Matt Forte will play in Week 4     Mon Sep 24, 12:34 PM

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said the team is 'hopeful' RB Matt Forte (ankle) will play in the team's Week 4 game Monday, Oct. 1. 'He made a lot of progress last week, and we have an extra day also so that should help,' Smith said. 'We're just hopeful that he'll be able to go. If not, our running backs, not only Michael Bush, but Kahlil Bell and Armando Allen all did a good job. But we hope we'll get our stud running back back.'

Footballguys view: When Forte does return to the lineup it won't completely crush the fantasy value of Michael Bush. We'll still see the Bears use Bush as a goalline back and short-yardage runner. He goes from a RB2 option to a flex option upon the return of Forte.

Bears | Kahlil Bell waived    Thu Aug 23, 07:01 PM

The Chicago Bears have waived RB Kahlil Bell.

Footballguys view: Bell refused to take a pay cut and was shown the door. He was scheduled to make $1.26 million but the team wanted to cut it down to $700,000. Bell was productive late last year and could latch on with a zone blocking team like Washington or Houston in the near future.

Bears | Kahlil Bell could be No. 2 RB next season    Wed Jan 11, 02:54 PM

Chicago Bears RB Kahlil Bell could enter training camp as the primary backup running back next season. Bell is a restricted free agent but the team likely would match any offer he would receive.

Footballguys view: Bell proved to be a very capable RB filling in for an injured Matt Forte. The Bears could still add a RB via free agency or the draft for depth.

Bears | Kahlil Bell posts 159 total yards from scrimmage    Mon Dec 26, 12:12 AM

Chicago Bears RB Kahlil Bell got the start in Week 16 against the Green Bay Packers with RB Matt Forte (knee) and RB Marion Barber III (calf) inactive. Bell did pretty well, running for 121 yards on 23 carries, while adding 38 yards on four receptions. Bell did fumble at the Green Bay 1-yard line in the third quarter, losing a touchdown for himself, but OG Edwin Williams pouncing on the loose ball for the score.

Footballguys view: Bell was a massive success along with Evan Royster for desperate owners who had to go with a waiver wire RB for the championship week 17. He should be a great play again this week vs. the Vikings.

Chicago Bears RB Kahlil Bell rushed for 65 yards on 15 carries in Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks. He also caught five passes for 43 yards and one touchdown in the game.

Bears | Not expected to add a RB    Mon Dec 5, 09:27 AM

The Chicago Bears are not expected to make a move outside the organization at running back after RB Matt Forte (knee) suffered a knee injury in Week 13. RB Marion Barber III was strong in relief of Forte, with 40 yards on 10 carries in the first half, and RB Kahlil Bell created a scoring opportunity with a 26-yard run in the second half.

Footballguys view: Barber will be the team's starter while Forte is out, with Bell serving as the backup. The early prognosis on Forte's knee injury is that it's a grade 2 MCL sprain and he's expected to miss 2-4 weeks.
